If this is true, how many votes may selling women out have cost her?

"I just heard Joanna Cherry is going to lose her seat though"

Not according to this:

sniffsneeze · 12/12/2019 22:59

Yup delighted if she's gone.

ClosdesMouches · 12/12/2019 22:59

If she does lose her seat she absolutely deserves it after her performance on Marr a couple of weeks ago. She's a disgrace.

GCAcademic · 12/12/2019 22:59

EverardDigby - where are you seeing these stats?

GCAcademic · 12/12/2019 23:00

Oops, ignore, just seen someone has posted a link.

BeardedVulture · 12/12/2019 23:03

It doesn’t look likely that Belcher will take Chippenham.

Cwenthryth · 12/12/2019 23:03

Looks like Caroline Flint, the only Labour MP to publicly stand up for women’s rights, is going to lose her seat too

DeRigueurMortis · 12/12/2019 23:04

Good - one highlight of what I expect to be a shitty night.

PermanentTemporary · 12/12/2019 23:04

I was both furious with Jo Swinson - the violent lesbians trope was hideous - and also quite interested in the misogyny obvious in that it is female leaders who are required by the TRAs to stand up publicly and declare their sex irrelevant in life. A sweet moment for the men's rights enthusiasts. Even though it was Labour who brought in the GRA and who opened All Women Shortlists to Any Man, and Tories who failed to consult with women's groups when considering gutting the GRA, it has been women in the Lib Dems including their first female leader ever who have been required to say that having a sex is of no importance or even reality, though somehow it is also so important that transitioning from one to the other is a life or death matter.

Jo has given us all an enormous and direct gift by showing all politicians what happens when you actually try and argue this policy. You look insane and you lose votes. Thank you Jo.

TiredofthisBS · 12/12/2019 23:05

Does anyone know how likely Dawn Butler is to keep her seat? I sincerely hope she loses it for throwing women under a bus.

EverardDigby · 12/12/2019 23:07

Dawn Butler Labour hold predicted I'm afraid

Ereshkigal · 12/12/2019 23:08

No I think HB would be a great leader. Truly.

Sunlight.

Agree. Bring it on. And I'm tempted to stay up late if Swinson is going to lose her seat...

Birdsfoottrefoil · 12/12/2019 23:11

SNP winning so many seats in Scotland is not good. They will insist on another referendum. But worse than that is the fact that the SNP do not represent their constituents, they represent their party and vote as a block which to me is profoundly undemocratic. Ok I know other parties use the whip but not on every vote and MPs still rebel.

slimeandfear · 12/12/2019 23:11

I recommend that we don't count chickens before they hatch in case we have to eat crow instead of tasty chickeny victory.

Verily1 · 12/12/2019 23:12

Let this be a lesson to politicians who want to trample on women’s rights.

AdaFromYorkshire · 12/12/2019 23:12

Bye Jo, good riddance.

CharlieParley · 12/12/2019 23:13

Sorry Cwenthryth was on taxi Mama duty. The projection that Jo Swinson may have lost her seat made her the second person namechecked on BBC Scotland's Election Night Special.

First was Ruth Davidson who promised to "go skinny dipping in Loch Ness if the SNP wins 50 seats". Announcer said simply that she may want to get herself down to the shores of Loch Ness.

I am in hr constituency . It is her right wing attitude, lack of political savvy and previous voting record that may have lost her her seat not selling women out. That and the fact that Scotland is voting SNP everywhere to demonstrate that we wish to remain in Europe and dont want to be associated with the current political leanings in Westminster

Poota · 12/12/2019 23:14

SNP can demand a referendum if they want, but if the Tories win a majority it won't make the slightest difference.

ItsNearlyMorning · 12/12/2019 23:14

Ah poor Jo.
Said none of us ever 🎉

BearFoxBear · 12/12/2019 23:15

Good. She doesn't deserve her position when she's so willing to fuck women over.

MarieIVanArkleStinks · 12/12/2019 23:15

The only one bright spot I can see so far.

Doobigetta · 12/12/2019 23:16

Couldn’t have happened to a nicer... oh, what’s that word?

Birdsfoottrefoil · 12/12/2019 23:18

SNP are taking it as a mandate for a referendum (though tbf they would spin losing every seat as a mandate for a referendum too) but I don’t think it is. I don’t think it reflects Brexit either. I think the fact they are not lead by Boris or Jeremy is enough.

slimeandfear · 12/12/2019 23:23

Unrelated, but BBC says Bolsover is likely to go Tory. A great shame if it does, I've always admired Skinner.
