Exit poll suggests Jo Swinson loses her seat

If this is true, how many votes may selling women out have cost her?

OP posts:
Lumene · 12/12/2019 23:23

She was utterly incoherent in her discussion about how allowing any male to say they are female and be treated as such would impact women’s single sex spaces and stats on sex equality.

Take a stand either way but be clear on why it means and defend it with coherent arguments.

DeeZastris · 12/12/2019 23:23

I’ve always liked skinner too. A good mp.

CoolCarrie · 12/12/2019 23:26

Serves her right!

NickelADimeCandy · 12/12/2019 23:27

SNP winning so many seats in Scotland is not good

It certainly isn't.

Birdsfoottrefoil Scotland voted strongly to Remain, and with a Leaver Tory govt likely, their only chance to Remain is Independence.

BeardedVulture · 12/12/2019 23:39

VanyaHargreeves · 12/12/2019 23:43

I would laugh so hard if she did

She has done nothing but embarrass herself since she became Leader

CharlieParley · 12/12/2019 23:46

Have checked reliability of the exit polling for Scotland - they only ever sample 12 seats and with so many marginal seats in Scotland this time round, the real result may well be below 50 SNP seats. If so, Jo Swinson may just hang on in there.

I am surprised at the BBC projection for the constituencies local to me as they are boldly predicting them with 99% certainty and I know they're really too marginal for that. But having stood at two polling stations for three hours today, turnout seemed up and the feedback felt encouraging.

Had only one idiot ranting and raving at me about how awful women are, culminating in him declaring that women should never have been allowed the vote before storming off. Could have shouted Bingo! before he was halfway through. Every MRA trope was there. And some I haven't heard outside of the historical records of the Suffragette movement.

The caretaker of the building the polling station was in was even more disturbed than me and walked me away from this guy right next to the entrance door. And then stayed with me until the guy left.

38% and certain regions voted leave, independence may mean Scotland asked to re-enter the EU but they will still leave if the rest of the UK does.

NickelADimeCandy · 12/12/2019 23:49

Anyone who thinks Scotland can waltz back into the EU if the separatists get their way is seriously deluded.

VanyaHargreeves · 12/12/2019 23:50

The EU pretty much stated Scotland couldn't automatically do that, didn't they?

littlbrowndog · 12/12/2019 23:56

No in Scotland sometimes we vote strategically. As we have no choice

But the in independent vote we vote on independence which is very different

Gingerkittykat · 12/12/2019 23:56

I agree, the SNP majority in my area was around 800 last time but they are predicting a 99% chance of an SNP hold with increased majority.

They have also predicted Neil Hanveys seat to be 99% chance of an SNP win when there is now no SNP candidate. Labour currently have a majority of less than 60 votes there so will be interesting to see what happens.

ZenNudist · 13/12/2019 00:00

I am a Lib Dem sympathiser I wouldn't have voted for Swinson if I was on fire. good riddance to bad rubbish. she's led an absolutely appalling campaign.

DeeZastris · 13/12/2019 00:01

Last time I relied on the BBC predictions they said we would be remaining in the EU, thought “oh good” and toddled off to bed. Nearly shat myself when I put the radio on the next morning. So I’ll take whatever they’ve said with a pinch of salt and wait for the proper results.

BiologyIsReal · 13/12/2019 00:03

Sir John Curtice himself said on Beeb a little while ago that the exit poll should be treated with more caution in Scotland because of fewer exit polls being taken there and the high number of marginals.

babynewt · 13/12/2019 00:04

Great news! hopefully the message will get broadcasted, and the twitter feed, WERE 50% OF THE ELECTORATE, don't forget it, we won't.

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 13/12/2019 00:05

When I went to vote our local LibDem councillor was there. She's elderly, very conscientious, straight as a die (which isn't true of some of her colleague) and I respect her.

I dithered for a few minutes outside and then went in again. I said I was a feminist and couldn't vote for her party because of their approach to women's rights. She rolled her eyes, said she knew and that JS's stress on the transgender issue had been very ill timed. From the look on her face I'd guess she's been hearing all about it on the doorsteps.
