Does MN have a problem with trans people? **MNHQ edited title as OP has apologised for 'accusatory' tone**

Seem to be threads constantly on the issue of trans.

Why?

Is it because it conflicts with the idea of sex as a construct?

Is it an age thing?

There must be mums on here with trans kids - do you just stay out of it?

Why the obsession with the idea of being attacked by trans women? Is it not the modern equivalent of homophobic blokes all thinking gay men want to rape them?

Well! That was fun Grin

Datun · 28/11/2019 10:22

By all means attack the argument, but allowing your members to treat me this way and have over 10 pages dedicated to mocking me is simply cyber bullying.

And can I just point out, that expressing fairly mild scepticism over short haired women, who sound like men because they smoke '30 fags a day' (honestly, don't give up the day job, Eyez), doesn't constitute, um '10 pages of cyber bullying.'

Neither do the guidelines say, you have to believe everything you read, or else.

TinselAngel · 28/11/2019 10:27

Can anybody afford to smoke 30 fags a day these days?

littlbrowndog · 28/11/2019 10:28

Cripes 😂😂

@MNHQ are we able to get this post onto Mumsnet Classics?

I've not laughed this much since Alex Sharpe's Spifire analogy.

ClosdesMouches · 28/11/2019 10:41

I've just caught up on the thread, no surprise how it developed.
I also hope that post is allowed to stand.

CaptainKirksSpikeyGhost · 28/11/2019 10:44

They come to Mumsnet like they would to twitter, seriously under-estimating what they will find. It all goes tits up, and they end up resorting to desperate measures, revealing the bare bones of their own hatred, bigotry and prejudice. The continual references to 'white' and 'middle class feminism' exposes their own deep lack of understanding of what racism entails too. It is just one of those 'get out of jail' cards that they think they can pull - because it works for them elsewhere.

I think so too, they come expecting to teach bigots the right way to think, only to find intelligence and women who know more about the subject than they do.

HandsOffMyRights · 28/11/2019 10:49

Sorry to digress, but here's that Alex Sharpe quote for the newcomers.
Eyez you are definitely a contender though...

A couple of well know phrases spring instantly to mind:

Men are afraid that women will laugh at them. Women are afraid that men will kill them.

4th rule of misogyny: Women's opinions are violence against men thus male violence against women is justified.

Also laughing at the idea of all the women of mumsnet being bitter old hags, who are all married, to men, and we get no offers of sex ever even from these husbands, which would of course be the worst thing ever in someone's life, and by the way rape happens only to hot young women so the bitter old hags don't even deserve rape as the ultimate male compliment. And by the way the hairdresser hopes we all get attacked by men because we deserve it for not being 100% respectful of the hairdresser. Awesome.

Please don't delete anything MNHQ. Let it stand.

Kantastic · 28/11/2019 11:21

they are poorly read, and ill informed of the actual substance of the issues being discussed, and are unable, therefore, to string together any sustained argument or worthwhile discussion.

Bears repeating.

I keep noticing how all their appeals to science are based on cargo-cult thinking. As this thread demonstrates, in their world you are not allowed to actually analyse scientific findings, you have to bow to what the people in "authority" say. This was also the lament about Maitlis questioning the Tavistock doctor- they wanted a "scientist" to have done it. In their minds a "scientist" wouldn't question the orthodoxy! And throwing around long sciency-sounding words ("the whole genome is intertwined") is the same in their minds as actual scientific reasoning.

I'm wondering if the influence of queer theory somehow hollows out people's ability to actually do empirical reasoning. Like the two modes of thinking trade off against each other.

But maybe it's just a Dunning-Kruger thing about the type of person who shows up here wanting to "educate" Mumsnet.

NotBadConsidering · 28/11/2019 11:28

I steered clear of this thread because it seemed entirely predictable but then

long live the penis

came along and I’m 🤣🤣🤣

PurpleCrowbar · 28/11/2019 11:34

Just RTWT.

That. Was. Epic.

Even the alpacas. Grin

OldCrone · 28/11/2019 11:45

Eyez must be male. Men are sometimes violent towards effeminate or cross-dressing men. Eyez has assumed that women behave in a similar way towards women in their spaces who look masculine, accuse them of being men and physically attack them.

If we actually thought they were men, we wouldn't say anything, because of this:
Men are afraid that women will laugh at them. Women are afraid that men will kill them.

And if we think they're women, we wouldn't say anything because they're women, and have a right to be there however they present.

GirlDownUnder · 28/11/2019 11:46

Penises for all occasions...

Yves Saint Laurent jewellery for those work Christmas do’s
A nice cozy sweatshirt - unisex of course
And because it’s Christmas tree time soon, a nice penis angel.

Nobody understands, nor can make head nor tail of queer theory, and it would seem as if its wilful density was designed exactly for that outcome. It then permits the author to be the total authority.

Kantastic · 28/11/2019 12:03

There are some underlying comprehensible (albeit very stupid) ideas though.

"Oppression isn't oppression if you don't call it oppression."

"Rape isn't rape if you don't call it rape."

"Men aren't men if you don't call them men."

"Boundaries are the only true oppression that exists"

"Boundaries can be destroyed by redefining and farting around with words to the point where nobody ever knows what the fuck you're talking about."

Okay, so only two or three actual ideas. And unfortunately that last idea seems to be genuinely correct.

ScrimshawTheSecond · 28/11/2019 12:08

Wow. That is truly stunning, Eyez. Thank you. Have you thought about going into politics? :)

GetbusywiththeFizzee · 28/11/2019 12:12

You’re right Kantastic and there’s another to add on - women should always stfu unless they’re supporting men.

2BthatUnnoticed · 28/11/2019 12:13

Weird - on that HCP thread, women recounted intense personal trauma to the complete indifference of certain posters.

No one abused those posters.

In this one, our failure to sympathise with the alleged butch cousin prompted a ranty, abusive post... it is almost like some feel entitled to empathy

While others are socialised to get by without it

2BthatUnnoticed · 28/11/2019 12:15

girl that’s my Chrissy shopping sorted then Grin

littlbrowndog · 28/11/2019 12:17

Oh ffs dick earrings.

Melroses · 28/11/2019 12:18

Long live the penis

So Eyez is just the usual Mens Rights Activist poster.
