There are some underlying comprehensible (albeit very stupid) ideas though
Just came across these comments under an article about Queer Theory
"As someone who's been reading and arguing this stuff for 30 years plus, I'd say queer theory is harmful, which is something I certainly wouldn't have said at the beginning. Postmodernism is a dead end, just to start; it's based on ideas and emotions and thinks that will re-make our world, which is historically dumb. People who learn it in college now seem to have adopted it as a cult, attacking those who think differently and I mean think, not the obviously anti-queers and have made life HELL for women who, as radical and socialist feminists, came up with a different theory. ON a far more minor note, it's taken root in English departments and lost any connection it once had to reality (full disclosure: my MA and MFA are in English, before I fled to cultural critical studies). So it's also become terribly prescriptive and dull, and impervious to criticism except through threats of violence. Marginalizing material thought and remaking daily life over into postmodernism, which is a combination of art and deconstructing, simply doesn't work in changing the real world -- ie for those over 30, especially those with children, lack of access to resources, and jobs without flexibility. The organized attacks on women ("radical feminists") through intimidation and physical threat, are misogynistic and unforgivable. No matter how oppressed one group is, horizontal hostility shouldn't even be an issue once you've been studying oppression theory of any kind, let alone the most obvious manifestation of the "movement" primarily funded by pharmaceutical corporations".
"This is postmodern nonsense at it's most ludicrous. These people make up words and 'theories' so that they can sound like the hard sciences, when really they're just inventing an epistemology to justify their own warped moral beliefs. They publish non-peer reviewed papers in journals that are never cited. They rise to tenure in their universities and then teach this nonsense as fact to impressionable undergrads. Thus SJW's that espouse this nonsense on Tumblr are the byproduct of these postmodern professors.
Not every postmodern idea is unjustifiable, and some of the arguments can be backed up rationally. The problem is that reason has no place in postmodern thought, and it's all about feelings and how you as an oppressed group perceive injustices" : www.critical-theory.com/what-the-fuck-is-queer-theory/
