Thread 2!

OP posts:
theflushedzebra · 20/11/2019 23:00

Yeah - posie was before rubberman - it was purely when nspcc were refusing mumsnetter's questions on the transing of children.

Marz is sorely missed. She was a voice of wisdom for me on these boards long before the trans thing kicked off.

ShesDressedInBlackAgain · 20/11/2019 23:08

Yes. Slightly spikey wisdom at times. She was great. Sad

Creepster · 20/11/2019 23:13

I miss Dittany. She is the reason I came here the first time.

theflushedzebra · 20/11/2019 23:31

Yes Dittany was the original radfem on here - responsible for FWR existing at all, I believe. Sorely missed, but not banned - chased off by "you feminists are meanies" posters Hmm

theflushedzebra · 20/11/2019 23:32

So many wonderful feminists have been and gone from this place - taught me so much - I miss them all.

stealthsquirrelnutkin · 21/11/2019 09:55

Seems we need a Mumsnet Feminist Day of Remembrance. A day set aside for reminiscing about our lost warrior women. The brave leaders who fell victim to enemy sniping, having dared to muster the troops and lead gallantly, from the front.

Except, on the gloriously bright side (wouldn't it be wonderful if this was an option on other remembrance days), we don't have to grieve very deeply, because they really do live on in glory. They are still out there, putting their talents to good use in other places and bringing hope in dark and dismal times.

There's even a possibility that some of them might be persuaded to return, given the right kind of apology and assurances.

Ameanstreakamilewide · 21/11/2019 10:36

How many complaints must a post receive from AWAs, before it's deleted by the mods?

Surely not just one??

LangCleg · 21/11/2019 10:39

Maya on Twitter:

At my tribunal the Judge welcomed live tweeting as a means of #openjustice . It was brilliantly done by @wwwritingclub. Someone didn't like something she reported and complained to @Twitter. Her account was suspended for 12 hrs. She wasn't able to live tweet from #FairCopJR

Someone also did not like that the women of Mumsnet were talking openly about the case and the individuals involved. They received ominous warnings about "reporting restrictions" and decided to take all the names out if the posts to be on the safe side

twitter.com/mforstater/status/1197449811236130816?s=21

But you know: the reporting system isn't being weaponised hereabouts at all, is it?

myfavouriterain · 21/11/2019 10:40

her "sarcasm created a hostile work environment" for the mods

Are there any happenings with Maya's case today?

Again, for Maya and her team Flowers

GetbusywiththeFizzee · 21/11/2019 10:48

MF's views are incompatible with human dignity because they suggest trans people with a GRC are living a deception

How can anyone say that with a straight face?
Are they honestly saying they truly believe a piece of paper changes your biological truth? Hormones, surgery, clothing are substitutes to appease dysphoric minds, nothing more.
Why is the concept of dignity always a one street stripping women of dignity, our sex based rights. I despair of the times we live in- absolute madness.

Thinkingabout1t · 21/11/2019 12:43

I don't use social media much. Joining Mumsnet was a big step for me! (Glad to have found Mumsnet, though.)

I've been hugely impressed by Mumsnet's live coverage, via supporters tweeting from the courtroom, of the Maya Forstater case. The news media I usually read are pretty much ignoring it.

Does anyone here use Spinster, which I think is a feminist version of Twitter?

PurpleHoodie · 21/11/2019 12:45

Welcome Thinking

Many people here use Spinster it seems.

Akire · 21/11/2019 13:23

I spent half night reading this case and Harry the Owl. You really couldn’t make it up! Who’d have thought using the word Man or woman in the sense we know would become a crime.

LangCleg · 21/11/2019 13:48

I do. I quite enjoy it but not got the time to be on there too much.

Thinkingabout1t · 21/11/2019 14:07

Thanks, Purple and Lang.

PurpleHoodie · 21/11/2019 16:57

Any news or updates?

Revisited a few old threads recently and miss so many postersSad

The judge confirmed terf is a derogatory term. Which has been handy for this twitter comment.

I think it's protected now , I can't see anything - want to give us the gist of it?

ThePurported · 22/11/2019 10:00

Stunning, isn't it? Meanwhile there's an election going on and all the political parties seem to be on the side of the witch hunt. Halloween Confused

Angryresister · 22/11/2019 10:13

purported except for the party that believes that they can support women’s rights and strengthening self ID at the same time!

theflushedzebra · 22/11/2019 10:19

Oh I saw James Baker's twitter feed last night - he was calling women "terfs" and ding the usual "libdems are trans-inclusive" and TWAW, and must be allowed to access women's services.

A huge number of people enlightened him on the Judge's words in Harry's Judicial Review Grin and Joanna Cherry's select committee panel with Twitter Executive who admitted that "Terf" was a term of abuse".

James started spluttering that he didn't mean any offence blah bah blah, and was utterly ratioed.

These lefty liberal MEN in our political parties, - who just happily sling about terms of abuse towards women, with no thought, or realisation, that they are contributing to the misogynistic silencing of women - fair takes your breath away.
