Oh for fuck sake

ShesDressedInBlackAgain · 15/11/2019 18:17

Right. I spend fucking thousands with those muthafuckas. Fucking thousands. Furniture, curtains, carpets, clothes, weekly shopping.

And we're doing some work on the house and I need all of the above plus new beds and a fucking shitload of overpriced biscuits for the builders.

Off to find out who to complain to.

SarahTancredi · 15/11/2019 18:18

Yeah Saturday girl its your problem. You have to take one look at a man and decide whether hes genuine enough to enter or not when they can even hide it from.spouses for decades Hmm

Once again its minimum wage/working class people having to take the brunt of the impact.

Floisme · 15/11/2019 18:18

Thanks for this. I think that's even worse than M&S in the way they put the onus on their poor beleaguered 'partners' to make the call.

The nearest branch to here has curtained cubicles only.

JoeGargery · 15/11/2019 18:19

Oh no.
I’m rapidly running out of places to shop. Angry

UnrelentingFruitScoffer · 15/11/2019 18:20

A bit shocked by this. I mean, I understand the activists in this area are very aggressive and self-righteous so companies give in to them but this idea that anyone can just barge into the ladies changing rooms is nuts.

OhWellThatsJustGreat · 15/11/2019 18:21

This has been common practice in John Lewis for many many years. I worked there for 10 years up until 3 years ago and it was standard practice if an individual was presenting as female, then they could use the female fittingroom.

JellySlice · 15/11/2019 18:21

I think it can be read either way.

One one hand: Yes, use whatever fitting room you fancy.

OTOH: If we think you're taking the piss, we won't let you.

But then they swerve responsibility: who are they empowering to make this decision? Shop floor staff. Hmm

OhWellThatsJustGreat · 15/11/2019 18:21

Visa versa with male.

ShesDressedInBlackAgain · 15/11/2019 18:22

Stable fucking door fucking horse fucking bolted.

JellySlice · 15/11/2019 18:22

John Lewis, this is not a situation in which you can remain neutral. You cannot please both sides.

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 15/11/2019 18:23

Regardless of policy, if any customer were to act inappropriately, the necessary action would be taken
Oh, that’s nice of them. See, nothing to worry about. Hmm

MadnessInMethod · 15/11/2019 18:23

I was in the Liverpool store on Saturday 2nd November and there was a very obviously male bodied person heading into the women's changing rooms - the ones just off the lingerie section.

So sadly, this does not surprise me.

OldCrone · 15/11/2019 18:25

"I am a woman who doesn't feel comfortable sharing a fitting room with men, however they identify. Do you have fitting rooms in your stores in which I would feel comfortable?"

Can someone ask them this?

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 15/11/2019 18:26

I haven’t been in a Johnny Lou Lou’s for years, sadly, because of two instances of their appalling customer service, but do they actually have changing rooms titled ‘Men’ and ‘Women’? If so, why bother, considering they say anyone can use any changing room they want?

ShesDressedInBlackAgain · 15/11/2019 18:26

What does inappropriately look like? What if I'm on my way to my changing room and someone comes out of theirs and stands just a bit too close to me and asks me my opinion on what they are wearing? What if they haven't quite done it up properly?

I know what predatory men are like. Seems JL don't.

Still It's ok because we can all do the magic 'tut' as recommended by Jolyon Hoity-Toity-Priviledge-Person Hmm

Scarscar · 15/11/2019 18:30

Boycotting John Lewis as well then. I'm gonna have to go back to making my own clothes, might start up a new line for GC women!
Is Waitrose the same company, do I need to kick them to the kerb too?

Fantina · 15/11/2019 18:32

Oh now this boycott will hurt. I spend SO much money there. I'll just love my spending to the internet and these decisions by retailers will only serve to hasten their already sad decline.

CeridwenTheWitch · 15/11/2019 18:36

Since many of these large stores are selling out women's rights, we could combine this boycott with a supporting local independent stores thing, since we'll need to find new places to shop anyway?

FemininPluriel · 15/11/2019 18:39

Can we shop anywhere? This is chilling, actually.

thatwouldbeanecumenicalmatter · 15/11/2019 18:40

Customers are welcome to use whichever fitting room makes them feel most comfortable with.

And when there's a conflict of customers' comfort - which customer's comfort gets to trump the other customer's?

I couldn't possibly guess...

Answers on a postcard.

FemininPluriel · 15/11/2019 18:40

@CeridwenTheWitch I like that idea very much

ShesDressedInBlackAgain · 15/11/2019 18:42

Yeah right. I might be comfy on your sofa but I guarantee if I came round and settled in it'd make you much less comfy.

Michelleoftheresistance · 15/11/2019 18:43

Ceridwen that's a positive I'll get behind. Rather like Always pushing me into re usable sanpro. Every cloud!

jamrollyolly · 15/11/2019 18:45

Great idea Ceridwen! Ican't afford John Lewis anyway, so an easy boycott!!
