@SorryAuntyLydia try Snag tights. I'm hearing amazing things.

SirVixofVixHall · 15/11/2019 19:37

Dhalandchips. I would go in and ask them their policy, very loudy. I would really want other customers to know that they would allow a man in with a child getting a first bra.
Although you probably won’t get a chance to do that without your dd, if it is tomorrow.

MoltoAgitato · 15/11/2019 19:38

Oh for FUCKS SAKE! Are they complete idiots and completely unaware as to who makes the majority of purchasing decision in households? If Captain Birds Eye can tell the trans lobby to fuck off, surely JL and M&S can too?
Snag look woker than woke, but also don’t have changing rooms really.
(Birds eye did back MN, didn’t it?)

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 15/11/2019 19:39

Who decided this - and I mean what is the name of the creature who decided to do this to women?

CeridwenTheWitch · 15/11/2019 19:39

Ceridwen that's a positive I'll get behind. Rather like Always pushing me into re usable sanpro. Every cloud!

Yes! We could use it as an opportunity to create a woman friendly database of independent shops or something, or just do it word of mouth so that small businesses don't get targeted.

HermioneWeasley · 15/11/2019 19:40

@SorryAuntLydia another recommendation for snag tights - I’m utterly converted

PassingIntoTheWest · 15/11/2019 19:46

Does anyone have an email address for John Lewis? I can only find a web contact form, and I don't trust those.

MoltoAgitato · 15/11/2019 19:46

I take it someone has drawn the attention of M&S and John Lewis to these threads?

slipperywhensparticus · 15/11/2019 19:53

How do we draw there attention they clearly dont give a

Can you buy and return bras online?

WaningGibbous · 15/11/2019 19:54

I am the biggest JLP customer. Waitrose was our corner shop, all our food came from there and my parents bought all our furniture from John Lewis. Every time we went into town we went to JL. My first bra fitting was at Heelas and my first job was at Waitrose. My DC's nursery furniture came from JLP and their school uniform does now. I'm in Waitrose twice a week and we buy £250 JLP vouchers a month via a salary scheme.

No more, John Lewis, no more. I "feel the most comfortable" not spending my money in your stores.

Akire · 15/11/2019 19:55

They did yes, in fact it seems worse than M&S because they are allowing people to choose the room they feel most comfortable in, but also will let staff on the ground make judgements on a case to case basis. What can possible go wrong?

Soon as poor sales assistant asks a question or refuses someone there will be uproar. Can’t see their legal team supporting them can you.

BingBongSong · 15/11/2019 19:55

I don't really shop at JL that much but I do quite a bit at Waitrose. Luckily we have great local traders whom I can (and do, when I can) buy from.

If you're in the north west, can I recommend Northern Harvest (harvest.co.uk), who are a distributer for local farms, bakeries, dairies etc. They deliver to your door for £3.50 and you can return their packaging with your next order. I always do my Christmas shop with them, as it saves me the horror of having to go to the shops.

BingBongSong · 15/11/2019 19:57

www.northernharvest.co.uk.

Try again!

Michelleoftheresistance · 15/11/2019 19:58

just do it word of mouth so that small businesses don't get targeted

Quite. Just as we have underground secret lesbian groups and underground secret women's groups, we can now have secret underground bra fitters and an underground railroad of small businesses selling clothes with male free changing rooms.

Someone has to meet the needs of females being excluded by all women's provision now forcibly revolving around the needs of people born male.

SirVixofVixHall · 15/11/2019 19:58

Why the almost identical little speech to M&S, have they links ? There was that tacky little twitter exchange between them re “having the horn” for Christmas Hmm

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 15/11/2019 19:58

I’m not seeing any comments on their twitter account.

SirVixofVixHall · 15/11/2019 19:59

Has anyone asked Bravissimo ? Or other lingerie only retailers ?

GrinitchSpinach · 15/11/2019 19:59

Dhalandchips maybe measure her yourself and order a few styles to try at home from Figleaves or similar? And do write to M&S and JL to let them know why they’ve lost your family’s custom.

Dangerfloof · 15/11/2019 20:01

Can you buy and return bras online?
Yes from many retailers. I'm buying a black light shortly to check all the clothing that I will now buy online.
I like the idea of independent stores database or the like. Theres a nice looking one near me. I've been put off cos it looks too posh for me. But think I'm gonna have a look soon.

SirVixofVixHall · 15/11/2019 20:01

I will be taking my dd into a local lingerie shop instead of M&S or JL.

SorryAuntLydia · 15/11/2019 20:05

Right thanks Hermione and Kelsoooo I’ve just ordered some Snag tights to try

Fuck you Woke Stores and your wanky dragon friends - Merry Fucking Christmas (Yes I’m angry)

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 15/11/2019 20:05

So the argument is that no man would every pretend anything to just to get their jollies?

If you haven’t had your dinner yet, you may wish to wait:

Rutledge Deas IV reportedly sucked on a pacifier and became aroused after being changed by a carer who thought he was disabled

Catmaiden · 15/11/2019 20:28

Leave a message on one of their many Twitter clothes adverts for Christmas, asking if they can guarantee you a women only changing space,

Uncompromisingwoman · 15/11/2019 20:31

This really is a wake up call isn't it? Companies who rely on their women customers (food and clothing) throwing women under a bus - even when they specialise in selling underwear and offering specialist services like bra fitting.

I've spent a lot of time recently looking at sustainability and the importance of small businesses on our local High Street. This is the push that I need to finally dump these self centred, self important , women hating businesses in favour of small businesses struggling to survive. None of us need to buy into their "values" if they do not include the welfare and safety of women and children.

We don't get government funding, we can't bribe companies with awards but we can spend our money ethically - and John Lewis & M & S are evidently no longer ethical businesses. The M & S accounts are already cancelled / transferred and the John Lewis account will be cancelled tomorrow.

jamrollyolly · 15/11/2019 20:32

Ok I've skipped a bit of the thread, but can I ask, if you were able to afford JL/MS before and want to boycott, please look at plastic free shops locally as an alternative. I'll try to link to my amazing local mobile plastic free shop, because she inspires me and I'm sure she'll do the same for you, if I can link it!!
