Fresh thread in case part 2 fills up overnight.
I am yet to receive a reply to my third email, have been furiously tweeting, and as am now pursuing the options available to me as a shareholder.
Still crossing fingers for John Lewis!

Can someone just explain to me about the gusset thing? Not sure I understand.

And yes, those reviews are vomit inducing.

And completely unnecessary. Is Marks & Spencer is so damn naive that they don't realise this is a fetish?

These men are all on websites comparing notes and wanking. The reviews on Marks & Spencer's are nothing more than wank fodder. They are not really to alert other men as to how good the bras are. These men are all on the same websites.

I read recently that sociopathy relies on inducing pity. So it's very interesting that many of these men say how nervous they are to go into the actual store. Trying to prick people's pity trigger by being pathetic.

If I say I'm scared, they'll feel sorry for me, and let me continue to exploit them.

TimeLady · 13/11/2019 11:07

Maybe we need an obliging male to try on a pair and see if things do indeed 'tuck in'.

Datun · 13/11/2019 11:09

Maybe we need an obliging male to try on a pair and see if things do indeed 'tuck in'.

Oh, is that it?

I thought the unsewn bit was at the front, so it would be getting tucked in backwards, if you see what I mean.

No wonder I didn't get it!

It still seems rather an inadequate method, to be honest.

Strong control pants would seem, to me, to be much more effective.

Gertrudesgarden · 13/11/2019 11:09

Just when I think I've seen how deep and dark men's minds can go...their subterranean world turns out to be way deeper and way darker than I ever could have imagined. What the fuck is wrong with some men? I've naively assumed that this is a 0.001% thing, but there's just too many incidents for that to be true. I honestly thought the man I married was normal. It appears that he's unusual (normal needs, wants and desires, as opposed to fetishes and 'philias) and therefore horrendously abnormal. I will never look at men the same way again. It's like they've all had two heads all along and I've only just noticed. Jeeeeze.

I think it's being suggested that some of the scantier designs might not be able to contain the contents without them being held securely in place, Datun Wink

The opposite of 'let it all hang out'

Just sent my fourth email to M&S, this time to thank them.

Well, if it had not been for their changing rooms policy and their open contempt for the safety and comfort of girls and women, I would not have been pushed into shopping elsewhere. New favourites would still be unknowns to me. Truly, M&S has enriched my shopping experience.

I also asked them why they were stonewalling this longstanding customer's emails, questions and genuine concerns. Pun intended, although I'm not laughing.

Datun · 13/11/2019 11:18

Thanks TimeLady Grin

theflushedzebra · 13/11/2019 11:21

I want to thank M&S for drawing my attention to the fact that there are some pervy men around, who try on their knickers in changing rooms - possibly deliberately leaving the door open, because they want to be seen - and then put them back on the rack.

No more knickers off the rack for me!!

HelloYouTwo · 13/11/2019 11:25

I once had a review refused by the M&S automated moderator which I deduced was because I included the word “crotch”.

It was in relation to a pair of trousers which were very bizarrely proportioned and was a perfectly justifiable and non-sexual use of the word. But it wouldn’t post.

Yet men can write this stuff and get all the thumbs up they like.

I am starting to wonder if a good proportion of the men on the boards of these companies are into knicker-wearing and AGP themselves. It might explain their reluctance to act.

SingingLily · 13/11/2019 11:50

Yet men can write this stuff and get all the thumbs up they like.

I don't want to sound all conspiracy theorist - although it's increasingly hard to resist the thought that there is some organisational approach to all this - but on the Transwidows threads, their former spouses or partners often worked in IT.

Site moderators, data analysts, data-driven purchasing and policies. Even just one IT expert would be enough to have a disproportionate influence on it all.

Redshoeblueshoe · 13/11/2019 11:52

I wonder how the poor staff feel about handling the used knickers Envy

drspouse · 13/11/2019 11:55

I sew pants, and when I'm being lazy, I don't sew the gusset down. It's definitely a profit margin thing.

PocketDictionary · 13/11/2019 12:05

Datun Not putting a link but tucked in backwards 'technique'.
"Sweetheart this is going to take some practise on your part and in the beginning it may hurt a bit. You will have to have to take your penis and testes and fold them back between your legs toward your rear. In the beginning its going to hurt like a bitch if you get a hard on. But if this is something you really want you can do it."

TimeLady · 13/11/2019 12:16

"The things a girl has to do to prevent a VPL."

ChickenNuggetsChipsAndBeans · 13/11/2019 12:34

I am still not sure I get the gusseted thing and if I don't know what I will get if I google it.

Is the assertion that M&S knickers are designed to stretch in places where women don't need stretch?

And that this may be deliberate in order to facilitate some Men / some Trans women wearing them?

It does seem like a bit of a rabbit hole to me and I am not convinced. But, I am equally pleased that I have been buying multi-pack cotton Bridget Jones style underwear for years.

happydappy2 · 13/11/2019 12:42

Is a real eye opener how many of the reviews of many different styles of knickers are written by men, describing how they love the feel & fit of their new panties. I have started reporting as inappropriate but there are just TOO MANY.

TimeLady · 13/11/2019 12:44

Think of it as a little pocket, Chicken.

Or a finger in a glove....

HepzibahGreen · 13/11/2019 12:50

It's good if Debenhams have single sex dressing rooms as I buy bras from them. Their Gorgeous range T Shirt bras are good. They really need the custom too.

Sexnotgender · 13/11/2019 13:01

I’m not sure about Debenhams, I’m sure there was something in the paper about them a few months ago.

MamaToTheBabyBears · 13/11/2019 13:10

Part of the email Debenhams head office below, Debenhams have my custom! Leading the way with single sex changing rooms (although this feels ridiculous to say leading the way, they should always be single sex!)

I can confirm that our changing rooms are single sex, with private cubicles, some have doors with locks others have curtains.
......

We do not discriminate on gender nor religion, if a customer is uncomfortable with our policy they can request access to our separate disabled changing room, or try on at home and return unwanted items within our returns policy.

littlecabbage · 13/11/2019 13:46

Or for knickers "Had to order online because it was the only way to be sure that the items hadn't been tried on and potentially masturbated into" with links to reviews from men.

But ordering online does not keep you safe either - how do you know your online purchases weren't ordered and then returned by another customer?

I am cautiously pleased about Debenhams, but I thought I had previously heard differently, so will email them to check when I have time.

Akire · 13/11/2019 13:54

Yes single sex could well mean I am a women regardless. Why would you need to use Disabled changing room “if anyone is uncomfortable with our policy”. Unless it’s man who wants use ladies and being told no men’s or Disabled.

YourOpinionIsNoted · 13/11/2019 14:06

My (optimistic) reading of that is that a transwoman who didn't want to use the men's changing rooms wouldn't have to, they could use the separate disabled changing room, buy they wouldn't be able to use the women's.

I haven't been in a Debenhams for years. Time to change that I think.

MamaToTheBabyBears · 13/11/2019 14:06

Officially, isn't sex biology and gender being self declared fulfilment of sexist gender stereotypes? If that's not the case I will send a follow-up email.
