Fresh thread in case part 2 fills up overnight.
I am yet to receive a reply to my third email, have been furiously tweeting, and as am now pursuing the options available to me as a shareholder.
Still crossing fingers for John Lewis!

I still don’t get why Marks are happy have these online where a goodnight percentage of people buy and will see. IF they had them enlarged and put in store people would be horrified! Ifs not suitable for shop display it’s not suitable for online either. But hey I don’t have a business degree.

Coatandhat · 06/12/2019 16:10

Nor me Akire. My comments to M&S in the text boxes when reporting them are getting ever more irate. I am so angry with them for not reacting to the complaints - unless, of course, no one is monitoring the feedback anyway. I hope that it hasn't been a mistake to draw attention to them and that these male reviewers aren't getting a kick out of the number of thumbs down on the reviews.

NumbersStation · 06/12/2019 16:27

If mark’s suspenders want to be all inclusive then they really should be doing 10ft adverts of these reviews. Only fair.

WrathofFaeKlop · 06/12/2019 16:47

I was in M&S yesterday, just to observe of course, the lingerie section was unusually quiet.

They've really done a Ratners haven't they?

I just have to mention that those old fashioned dresses that most women don't wear are unlikely to be sold any time soon.

Chrestomanci3 · 06/12/2019 16:56

I've not been into M&S or their Simply Food store since this story broke. I had a reply from them to my first email, but not even an acknowledgment for my second. My family are all aware of this, presents have been bought elsewhere and food will be sourced elsewhere.

Akire · 06/12/2019 17:01

They have indeed. All they have to do is make a third space. I’m Quite happy to be the one to use the third space and leave the women’s up for grabs!

GetbusywiththeFizzee · 06/12/2019 17:25

Still waiting for M&Sleaze to add women’s lingerie to their men’s section - since so many of them are continuing to buy and leave reviews online.
Also waiting for M&Sleaze to use their target market to model women’s underwear. It is rather hateful of them to only use women to sell lingerie to biological males who have no idea what it actually looks like on them - visual rather than literal violence.

IsadoraQuagmire · 06/12/2019 17:28

I haven't set foot in there since this broke, I delete all their promotional emails without reading too.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 06/12/2019 17:55

I was thinking of buying some stuff from family from my den of noncompliant woman evil overseas and having it shipped directly within the UK to save myself the extra postage, but since I'd rather not inadvertently send my auntie soiled knickers I'm happy to pay the extra to avoid that. Was even thinking of treating a broke relative to some of their food for the holidays, will have to come up with an alternate plan.

SeaRabbit · 07/12/2019 04:46

It's easier than I would have thought to boycott M&S. So much of what I do is on autopilot because I am busy so it's refreshing to be forced to look for new places, and I'm making interesting discoveries. And spending less.

Coatandhat · 07/12/2019 22:52

Holy shit!! Unless it's just my computer, the reviews on M&S have changed format. Now they come up on a sidebar without male or female labels! I can't believe it Grin

Coatandhat · 08/12/2019 09:17

Scrap that. On my phone the reviews show male and female Angry.

WrathofFaeKlop · 08/12/2019 09:31

Yup
The reviews are still there.

Obviously they have had a meeting or two about the concerns.
They decided to do nothing.

A senior person in any other business would have quietly remove the offending reviews and change the format ever so slightly, at the very least.

But in light of all this criticism.

They have decided to do nothing.

MitziK · 16/07/2020 22:06

At risk of raising a Zombie, I've looked on their website a couple of times recently - on one occasion, I was asked to complete a survey about the site and what was thought of various factors, including how useful the reviews were and space to add comments about the reviews.

Anyhow, I'm middleaged and not the size range or shape for most shops (lockdown food is such a welcome distraction from being stuck inside isn't it?), so I had a look again.

I didn't see the creepy reviews; so perhaps they've noticed it's quite offputting to their main market to hear your clothing discussed in terms of how it caresses the undercarriage whilst leaving plenty of room or how sexy 'Brian57' feels wearing something designed for post mastectomy surgery?

Still didn't buy anything. But it was interesting that hundreds of reviews seemed to have disappeared in favour of ones that actually sound as though they're written by women.

ScrimpshawTheSecond · 16/07/2020 22:09

I hope they've not been literally erasing people.

Roseburn · 16/07/2020 22:13

Nope. Still there.

MitziK · 16/07/2020 22:14

@ScrimpshawTheSecond

I hope they've not been literally erasing people.
I think they'd need a pretty big pencil to go around literally rubbing them out, rather than just removing reviews that were posted for the purpose of rubbing one out.
womanaf · 16/07/2020 22:16

men ladies
Is that a new word?
‘Men ladies are women!’

MitziK · 16/07/2020 22:17

@Roseburn

Nope. Still there.
Oh, well, my mistake - the ones I had noticed before weren't there, though.

Never mind, eh. I'm sure they can afford to run on the income generated by them instead of their traditional customer base.

OhHolyJesus · 16/07/2020 22:45

I've been emailing and calling to ask if their changing room policy isn't one reconsidered seeing as the GRA isn't changing (based ok the Sunday Times leak), I might have a better chance once the announcement is actually officially announced, but thought it was worth a try.

Has anyone else heard anything on the changing rooms front?

NotAGirl · 16/07/2020 22:53

I've emailed twice asking about their changing room policy at my local store and not got a reply. Shame I need new clothes after. It replacing any for months.

Wondersense · 16/07/2020 23:20

@HumberHellraiser Exactly.

EndoplasmicReticulum · 16/07/2020 23:29

Are any changing rooms anywhere open at the moment? How are the reviewers to try on their (oh I can't even type this without cringing) "panties" in the changing room of their choice if all is shut for the corona?

undergroundoverit · 16/07/2020 23:32

Nice username on this review Hmm

Until a year ago M&S was my go-to store, I also used their credit card. I was their core customer type - middle aged woman, comfortable disposable income.

I cancelled the card when this story broke and have unexpectedly enjoyed discovering new places to spend my money (often online).

It’s taken me just a couple of minutes today to find these reviews on their website, they are still openly facilitating perverts....... and no, Dougie, you don’t speak for “all us ladies”.
