I suspect you will think twice now! And boil/bleach all items before wearing.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 12/11/2019 08:49

I see that I'm not the only one who went through and downvoted the vomitworthy reviews!

WrathofSIxFootSixElf · 12/11/2019 09:01

... And most of my pants have the gusset pocket thingy

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 12/11/2019 09:01

On that...well, "article" would be a bit generous from The Tab.

A 12-year-old girl then came into the changing rooms, she says, prompting Hatchet to go off on one, asking: "Is it ok for that little girl to try on her first bra next to a man shouting about himself and his body in the next cubicle?”

Oh, the professionalism! I'm definitely convinced that we should burn the witch now.

Rachelsfatarse · 12/11/2019 09:02

@Elodie2019 if the shop floor staff complain to their managers that they are being put into an impossible position by their policy then it’s more pressure on management to review the policy.

Lamahaha · 12/11/2019 09:19

If I’m trying on a bra, which I’d have to do as they all fit slightly differently & I like the pants I want to know what size. Same for bikinis

I've tried on bras and swimsuits; the latter do have protection in the gusset, and you are supposed to leave your knickers on when trying, which I do. But knickers you might actually buy? No thank you. I just but size 12 or 14 and they always fit. Nice comfy ones, not lacy thongs. Now I know I'm right! Disgusting. I didn't think it was allowed. It shouldn't be. We need to send screenshots of those reviews to top management and also publicize everywhere. When the public knows that male fetishists are doing this the protest will get serious.

Datun · 12/11/2019 09:21

We need to send screenshots of those reviews to top management and also publicize everywhere.

And leave them inside the changing rooms.

SarahTancredi · 12/11/2019 09:29

Trouble is there are probably members of top management who do the same. How else do these things get put in place so easily.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 12/11/2019 09:34

Whenever I see unusually dodgy behavior enabling policies I assume that there's someone high up in the organization who's prone to that particularly form of dodgy behavior themselves and thus has decided to help out their mates.

WrathofSIxFootSixElf · 12/11/2019 09:42

Messages and cards left everywhere, in changing rooms, doctors waiting rooms then mention the one name who epitomises it all.

JIMMY SAVILE

TimeLady · 12/11/2019 09:45

Whenever I see unusually dodgy behavior enabling policies I assume that there's someone high up in the organization who's prone to that particularly form of dodgy behavior themselves and thus has decided to help out their mates.

Yep, that's my take on it now too.

And Jimmy Savile was the name that comes to mind over on the Samaritans thread.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 12/11/2019 09:56

This is actually good PR for men of a certain disposition... I can’t see many women getting their jollies in y-fronts and a strong vest (but you never know).

WrathofSIxFootSixElf · 12/11/2019 10:00

JimM&Savile

Dontcha just love a meme.

WrathofSIxFootSixElf · 12/11/2019 10:06

JimM&Savile would have used the women's changing rooms given the chance.

JimM&Savile would have used gender neutral toilets.

New meme..
JimM&Savile was 'ere

Mummyoflittledragon · 12/11/2019 10:11

My everyday M&S big knickers have the gusset fully sewn. Not sexy enough.

I used to wear sexier ones and did wonder why they suddenly appeared unsewn maybe a little less than 15 years ago, and yes, I’m also talking about M&S knickers. Now I know. I don’t buy the easier to sew bs.

What this would suggest is that they knew men were wearing them 15 years ago and this pocket was quietly added.

As for hygiene stickers. It is all very well that swimsuits have the hygiene sticker in the gusset, but actually I’m now questioning if it is now in the wrong place.

Mind blown. 15 + years too late. Sad

WrathofSIxFootSixElf · 12/11/2019 10:18

The origin of the gusset pocket really intrigues me.
Is it sinister or not? This is going to bother me all day now.

What, when, why and Who?

theflushedzebra · 12/11/2019 10:29

I think the central tenet of safeguarding should begin with:

"Would Jimmy Saville like this?" If yes, then more safeguarding steps need to be taken.

Well, Jimmy Saville got off on abusing women & children in plain sight, he loved to embarrass and intimate them. So YES - Jimmy Saville would LOVE the idea of abusive or pervy men being able to go into women's changing rooms.

The PP who mentioned her experience of a man sexually aroused by women being embarrassed in public - bloody nora. Explains an awful lot.

SirVixofVixHall · 12/11/2019 10:35

I have tried on pants, bras, shapewear, swimwear etc in shops. How else can you tell if it fits well ? I always try on pants or swimwear over my own underwear and tights though. Don’t try on bog standard pants as I can usually tell by looking if they will fit, only if they have tummy control or are very expensive do I try them, I just swiftly hoik them on over whatever I am wearing to check they fit .
If I order a Bravissimo swimsuit say, and try it on at home, I always try it on over sturdy pants in case it doesn’t fit.
I also wash everything before wearing, after an allergic reaction to a bra ( I assume the dye) , now I am very glad to have done that....

SirVixofVixHall · 12/11/2019 10:38

theflushedzebra Was that me ? I still feel sickened , decades later, about the man in the changing room. Uggggh.

theflushedzebra · 12/11/2019 10:53

SirVix - I was specifically referring to a post from this morning, which I've just realised was posted on the Samaritans thread - but also fits here very well.

"I remember one guy I was chatting to online when online dating who turned out to be furiously wanking when I was telling him a very banal story about a dress malfunction I'd had. It seemed that a woman experiencing even very mild public embarrassment really really turned him on. hmm That contributed to my feelings about men in women's spaces. He also was absolutely nuts about opaque tights. The really thick sensible type. Not frilly sexy things. I learned a lot about male sexuality from that conversation..."

But yes, I do remember your changing room experience! All of these experiences just show why women need their privacy away from men.

SirVixofVixHall · 12/11/2019 11:04

Good grief that post ! I had somehow missed that. Vile. The man I had to deal with clearly pushed things further because I was calm and not shocked initially (having been told by my boss that he came in sometimes, and was “harmless”). He hadn’t gone so far before, and I feel that was either because he’d had a reaction earlier on, or his need to shock was getting stronger.

theflushedzebra · 12/11/2019 11:11

Right - I no longer believe these people are harmless.

Also, I'm beginning to think that this exhibitionism escalates - with the boundaries pushed further and further.

All this stuff - this & the Samaritans stuff - and even the NSPCC & CBBC stuff - if we join the dots, it's all a massive escalation in male predatory behaviour against women and children.

Meanwhile M&S, and it seems just about everyone else, are welcoming these men into our changing rooms, toilets, everywhere. We'll have no space away from them.

Betterversionofme · 12/11/2019 11:12

Or kind like you have in some hospital where you don't have toilets area but directly from hall you enter a toilet, a single toilet with a sink, without any men/women designation.
