Agree with a previous poster.. Asda pants are comfy. Can't say how long lasting they are though as they are newish.

Another lost sale to M and S.

refusetobeasheep · 10/11/2019 19:09

It was ridiculously hard not to shop in M&S today, but managed it. Think giving up alcohol Monday - Wednesdays was easier!

PurpleCrowbar · 10/11/2019 19:11

Yep, I don't want to stop shopping their either - dd1 really likes their very plain bras, they are good for station food etc, we are expats who use them both here for good quality basics & in the uk for a Big Uniform Shop twice a year because they're much cheaper there (import mark up to the ME is a killer).

I've got a family member who works for them.

I'd really like to carry on spending my usual, ooh, maybe £1k a year there? But nope, not until they change this policy.

refusetobeasheep · 10/11/2019 19:49

Just lost my Twitter virginity and posted my first ever tweet on the M&S ad link! So when Mr Rowe asks what was the twitter response to the new ad, by my reckoning it's 5 per cent liked it, 5 per cent didn't and 90 per cent want the changing room policy changed .....

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 10/11/2019 19:57

They will still ignore it though!

I see Vodafone is having an ‘always’ twitter moment regarding advertising in the spectator. Tantrums and the Twit response ‘shhhh shhhhh shhhhhhhh, now there, wipe your eyes, blow your nose and we won’t talk to the bad people ever again’.

Akire · 10/11/2019 20:03

No, when asked they will be told
All amazing things by the 5% and then carry on thinking well wasn’t that a good idea. In the same why Government consultation cherry pic few comments on their side and ignore rest.

CeridwenTheWitch · 10/11/2019 20:05

Uniqlo do really good basics for anyone avoiding Marks and Spencer now. They are only in London but you can order them online.

Lostinthedesert · 10/11/2019 20:17

Uniqlo are in Market Street, Manchester now.

youllhavehadyourtea · 10/11/2019 20:18

I like Sainsbury's full briefs. Very comfy.

MrsSnippyPants · 10/11/2019 20:19

Another vote for Uniqlo. They do have stores outside London, I like the Oxford one.

SirVixofVixHall · 10/11/2019 20:33

I like Uniqlo for jumpers. They don’t do any of the other things that I buy in Marks though. There will be things I will simply have to forego...
Goodbye tasty Gluten Free Chocolate Twist pastries....it was lovely eating you, and I hope that one day I will eat you again.

ShesDressedInBlackAgain · 10/11/2019 21:25

I like Sainsbury's full briefs. Very comfy.

I too am a recent convert.

SunsetBeetch · 10/11/2019 21:39

Twitter thread from Jean Hatchet:

"Today @SamCSheff and I visited Sheffield @marksandspencer and @jlandpartners to see if they allow men in women’s changing rooms and what their staff think of that. #BoycottMarksAndSpencer t.co/RI1oGX6uFW "

Catsfriend · 10/11/2019 21:42

I never got a mail back from M&S. Perhaps because I enquired how this would affect staff of different faiths... I asked whether they had the right to refuse being on the shop floor or measuring a male-bodied person in lingerie. I assume they’re still drafting a q&a.

youllhavehadyourtea · 10/11/2019 21:53

Twitter thread from Jean Hatchet:
quite superb!

TheChampagneGalop · 10/11/2019 22:00

No. we had a few incidents in a store with this kind of thing with men and now we have said no - we have had enough. We are changing it.
From the JL manager she spoke to. Good news - just sad there has to be incidents before the policy is changed.

Macareaux · 10/11/2019 22:33

Well done Jean.

That M&S Christmas ad tweet has been ratioed.

Letting men indulge their fetishes in women's changing rooms. Lingerie provided. What could go wrong?

SirVixofVixHall · 10/11/2019 22:36

I really hope John Lewis are sorting it out. At least then I can shop there instead.

ShesDressedInBlackAgain · 10/11/2019 22:46

I am going to basically buy Christmas at JL once they confirm this. I would normally do food at Waitrose and lots of gifts/decorations/extras at M and S. But I'm going JL all the way.

Just waiting for confirmation.

artisanparsnips · 10/11/2019 22:53

Also uniqlo heattech thermals are the best thing ever.

We use M&S like the corner shop because it’s the closest. Not any more...

HumberHellraiser · 10/11/2019 22:59

Another one waiting for JL confirmation that legal sex based exemptions will used to keep all males out of female changing rooms. If they do it will be a bumper JL Xmas in this house.

If any John Lewis PR are scanning these threads, now would be a good time to mobilise your Comm’s team!

SirVixofVixHall · 10/11/2019 23:05

I want to start my Christmas shopping. I hope JL will lead the way and provide women only spaces.

littlbrowndog · 10/11/2019 23:09

Go jean. Owning marks. 💪💪💪💪

SarahTancredi · 10/11/2019 23:20

Wow that twitter thread...

Incredible!!

Unsung heroes....

What a shocker that they had incidents Hmm

It's not complicated is it. Penisis in one. Vaginas in.another. job done.

Datun · 10/11/2019 23:47

Why can't people simply think about a policy that admits men based on wigs?

Apart from the total logic fail, what on earth will they say to a non binary male? Here take this wig with you and you can enter?

It's utter nonsense. And is just begging for a macho, male dressed transwoman to shit all over it.
