That sums it up very well, and where all the unfairness is settled. It’s not just about tiny number of people being comfortable in previous ladies room. It’s like Always changing design for tiny Number of people and ignoring millions women who have complained pads are physically hurting them. Zero response it’s all for your own good and you wanted it. It’s like when women goes doctor for pain and is ignored and man goes and immediately gets given pain killers.

Also on non binary issue which is more prevalent compared to Trans numbers. If you are non binary you have choose a room. Do you go where majority of women or expose yourself to males in majority male space. Given gender identity still dosnt out sex you with regards to risk of sexuality assault or secret filming there isn’t a lot of choice. So it’s be previous ladies that’s still ends up being the default space.

HumberHellraiser · 10/11/2019 10:37

Men’s sexual rights movement is exactly it.

Given that the arguments for = feeling comfy, more choice, including some people who want it because feelings.

Given that the arguments against = females’ basic safety, dignity, privacy, being able to participate in public life without harassment.

And corporations reject the latter in favour of the former.

I have some great M&S pants, but I am not buying any more.
I buy underwear for the dds from M&S too, although I mainly buy Petit Bateau for dd2 as she is not in bras yet.
I don’t know where to shop now ! Maybe I will buy more expensive knickers, just fewer pairs.
Anyone know the Bravissimo policy on fitting rooms ?

boatyardblues · 10/11/2019 10:44

What are the main supermarkets’ undercrackers like quality-wise?

Akire · 10/11/2019 10:46

Guess we are going have find out! Though I don’t have any large supermarkets near me (urban area lots of mini Tesco’s etc) so would have be online but then can’t send them back unless “faulty” so makes it hard.

SirVixofVixHall · 10/11/2019 10:55

I have never bought underwear from a supermarket, the ones local to me are not large enough to stock it. I buy most of my pants from Marks, and the rest from places like Bravissimo.
Knickers and gluten free twisty things (like a Danish pastry twist) are going to be the things I miss most.

SarahTancredi · 10/11/2019 11:16

We also need to know where we can get our dds fitted ( and ourselves) where theres a good range of bras preferably where they arent 25 pound plus each....

SirVixofVixHall · 10/11/2019 11:50

Yes. My dd had her first fitting in M&S. No way would she go in there now. I feel furious thinking of that. In the supposedly less progressive times when I was first trying on bras, any man trying to use the fitting room would have been thrown out , and security called.
As women, we all now what kind of men will want to use the women’s lingerie department fitting rooms.

MrsSnippyPants · 10/11/2019 11:57

I will be leaving these leaflets in any changing rooms I visit

My first bra fitting involved being measured on the shop floor in front of everyone. ( in m&s)

Was lovely when things improved so much as to be done in a changing room in private and away from men.

And now....

SirVixofVixHall · 10/11/2019 12:11

MrsSnippy where can I get those leaflets ? Also stickers would be good.

SirVixofVixHall · 10/11/2019 12:12

Have realised I can just print that out...sorry, have only recently had a colour printer.

Akire · 10/11/2019 12:19

If you click on leaflet and then save image. You should be able to then print it from phone or PC

SunsetBeetch · 10/11/2019 13:45

Spot the men's sexual rights movement.

I called it a men's sexual entitlement movement here a few months ago, as all the workplace rubber wankery was blowing up, and OJ saw fit to quote it on Twitter as a prime example of all the nasty Mumsnet phobias...

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 10/11/2019 15:47

I would have just assumed he was agreeing with you proudly?

GrinitchSpinach · 10/11/2019 16:35

Lol, Fekko, no, sadly it was in the context of calling Mumsnet a “cesspit of transphobia,” making (as far as I know baseless) accusations that we’d organized to get him fired, and claiming that we were homophobic for objecting to child protection charity workers wanking at work and posting the videos on their LinkedIn pages...

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 10/11/2019 16:37

I still assume he is a performance art characters - like Dennis Pennis.

stayingaliveisawayoflife · 10/11/2019 16:48

Do you still fill in a receipt when you return something at M and S ? Maybe a week of action where people buy a small item then return it and on the receipt write something like Boycotting M and S due to unsafe changing rooms.

Don't know if this would work? Could get publicity and a public acknowledgement if enough people do it.

SonicVersusGynaephobia · 10/11/2019 17:36

Late to this thread, but I have also emailed, got a standard response back from Gary, emailed him back, which he ignored, and then emailed again, copying the CEO.

Uncompromisingwoman · 10/11/2019 17:59

How depressing all this is.
I can't make M & S respect women's safety
I can't force them to understand that Stonewall's advice is in defiance of the Equality Act
I can't make them see the nature of some trans advocates using this to pursue their own fetishes, porn addictions hiding behind the cloak of "trans equality".
But I can and have cancelled all accounts and stopped shopping there. On Friday instead of shopping in one of their large food halls for a family weekend, we went across the road to a large Sainsbury's and bought everything - much cheaper and nobody complained about the quality of the food. If many many thousands of women are doing this - especially coming up to Christmas - maybe? they'll get the message. Even if they don't, I feel better for not supporting what has turned out to be a surprisingly women unfriendly business.

bigkidsdidit · 10/11/2019 18:12

Asda do quite good pants.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 10/11/2019 18:14

Well - on an average week I’d spend maybe £60-80 in there (lunch, groceries) and extra for any wine/sandwiches etc for office lunches or events (I have a couple seminars coming up for around 80 people in total, so that’s a lot of wine and canapés). It all adds up and the more people are aware the more business they will see slipping away.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 10/11/2019 18:15

It’s a shame because the sparks card donates to charity doesn’t it?

SirVixofVixHall · 10/11/2019 18:34

Yes it does. I have a Sparks card.
The whole thing is sad, I don’t want to stop shopping there, nor do I want them to go under. I can’t shop somewhere that treats me so badly though.
