I know we have 'known' this for a while, but this is now their official response. How many 'inappropriate' incidents will be necessary before they see sense?

Oh bless cheezy, it’s a big thing these days 🙄

WotchaTalkinBoutWillis · 31/10/2019 15:38

I do not want to ever have those kind of experiences with some bloke in the next cubicle listening

Next time I try something on at M&S I'm going in the men's. See how they like them apples

Well, that's a bit of a contradiction.

whatsthecomingoverthehill · 31/10/2019 15:38

That's fine for you cheezy. Can you appreciate that other people might be bothered by it?

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 31/10/2019 15:39

Gardai what you said.

Question to the "doesn't bother me " brigade ...

Why can't the men we're concerned about just get over it and stay in the lockable cubicles provided for their sex? Why should concerned women try shit on at home because we're not comfortable undressing inches away from an undressing man in the ladies changing rooms? Confused

Staffy1 · 31/10/2019 15:40

Who wants the bother of taking items home to try them on? Then if they don't fit, you're back and forth to the shops all day.

Gardai · 31/10/2019 15:40

I’ve emailed Steve Rowe ceo, for the sheer hell of it to ask him his version of events but I won’t hold my breath.
But by fuck I’ll save a fortune now with M&S off my shopping list. Overpriced salty food and shit clothes imo (huffing here).

BeMoreMagdalen · 31/10/2019 15:41

cheezy, so you think that lockable doors solve this, and suggested in your first post that it's not openly 'mixed sex' so no worries. The point is that it is mixed sex if a male who identifies as female enters.

And why would locks help in a single sex changing room, but not be ok in a mixed sex one?

And now you've said it wouldn't bother you, seemingly oblivious to the fact that you are not the only woman who uses changing rooms.

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 31/10/2019 15:41

Have you listened to why some women are concerned cheezy?

Can you help reassure them?

littlbrowndog · 31/10/2019 15:44

They don’t have to identify as women at all

Any man can go into the women’s changing room

Any man

SuitedandBooted · 31/10/2019 15:46

Cheezy - that's so nice and woke of you. Have extra brownie points.

What about the rest of us who are bothered? Not to mention women from more traditional cutures who really can't be in close quarters with men?
I quess we just need to get over ourselves and stay at home. Validating a man's right to be in the womens changing rooms is SOOOO much more important...

IsadoraQuagmire · 31/10/2019 15:46

You not bothered about LGBT women then? Or is it only man who can be pervs?

No, we're not bothered by other biological women, whatever their sexuality.
Just men. Of any description. In women's spaces.

HTH

Gardai · 31/10/2019 15:46

Is cheezy a man tho ?

really don't get the problem? shut the door, lock it if you don't feel comfortable take it back after trying it on in another stores changing room if you don't want to make another trip

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 31/10/2019 15:48

This has been a policy for a while now though hasn't it, but just more under the radar.

In practice, I'm not sure how widely it happens - but I know that one 'bad' experience is one too many. I am more concerned about the teeny bopper shops like TopShop, Primark and DottyPs.

SchadenfiendeUnmortified · 31/10/2019 15:49

Changing rooms have to be designated by sex?

When will these places realise that SEX IS NOT GENDER?

They have lockable cubicles

Not all of them lock.

There are large gaps at the bottoms of the doors.

As another poster has mentioned - if trying bras many of us just lean out of the cubicles and ask the assistant for a different size/ style etc

And as another poster also said - Why does the comfort of one or two individuals get precedence over the comfort of MANY others who don't want to get changed in cubicles next to men?

littlbrowndog · 31/10/2019 15:49

Fekko 💗💗💗

IfNot · 31/10/2019 15:50

Well, that's a bit of a contradiction.
It really isn't. I'm not going to be having a bra fitting am I. I still don't think that Mr 60 something wants me steaming into the men's changing room to try on work skirts .

havingtochangeusernameagain · 31/10/2019 15:50

if I was a biological man presenting as a woman and, inspired by the brave and stunning Yaniv, wanted a fitting for a bra in the lovely inclusive M & S changing rooms, could a female fitter refuse this intimate act

I don't know if there have been any cases here, but in Canada there was, very recently, a female beauty therapist did not have to wax a man's genitals. Anyway why would a biological man need a bra? Because he'd had implants? I guess that goes beyond pure self-ID.

Furiosa · 31/10/2019 15:50

Why the fuck was my post deleted!!!!!!??????

havingtochangeusernameagain · 31/10/2019 15:51

I still don't think that Mr 60 something wants me steaming into the men's changing room to try on work skirts

Maybe we need more women "invading" the mens' loos and changing rooms so that they start to get it a bit more.

Was it my description of being postnatal?

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 31/10/2019 15:55

Roaaaaaarrrrrrrr!

Phew, that's been a long week. However, I have discovered some rather good tampon brands, so not a complete loss.

TheChampagneGalop · 31/10/2019 15:55

That's really weird Furiosa
What the hell.
