Exactly! And you’re not going to find us standing outside, wearing masks, acting in an oppressive manner and screaming at you. I’m sure you’ll spend lots and lots of money, along with all the woke youngsters, to make up or the older grownups who will spend elsewhere.

I'm going into my local M&S tomorrow and will be checking whether what they say about the lockable cubicle doors is true - if not, I'll be taking pictures to share here and on Twitter.

They won't be getting any money out of me from now on and I'll be passing this on to anyone in my life who will listen. My Mum will DEFINITELY not spend there when she hears about it - she's in her 60s and sees through all the bullshit. She's going to be livid.

Crack on. But I would say rolling back the rights and safety of one group in favour of the comfort of another is not good progress.

Support has been shown here for lots of alternative solutions that would be progress and would work for everyone.

They are losing swathes of their core customers and the teenage daughters they introduce to the store.

Early on in this thread someone asked if any of us here knew any trans people. Yes , throughout my life encountered many men who like the idea of getting up close to women who might feel sorry for them, notably in female changing rooms. But only this week a waiter who I believe identified as a waitress managed to grab my arm and squeeze it, touch me twice more in the course of my curtailed meal. Afterwards I tackled this person about their behaviour who again lunged at me while trying to reassure me that it was just their way of being. When I told them it was completely unacceptable , and they weren’t respecting my way of being, and that they clearly didn’t really want to apologise, we got the flounce into the kitchen. These are the people we do not feel comfortable with in our spaces. I have no doubt it was a test for this lesbian ( me) to see if they were validated in their identity. Not having it, no.

I have emailed John Lewis to ask if they have female only changing facilities, particularly in lingerie departments. I received a very nice answer advising that the store from which she worked has a female fitting room on one floor. I’ve pointed out my query was about the John Lewis policy nationwide.

Customer Service has punted it to Head Office.

There is absolutely nothing progressive about repealing the rights of women, in order to make space for men. Nothing progressive whatsoever. What would be progressive, however, is for trans people to campaign for their own spaces. Put in the work and the labour that women have put in, and still continue to do.

What would also be progressive, is to ditch the idea that there is something called an innate gender. There isn't! We have men & women, and within those two groups are multiple of variation of expression, personality and style.
