Has anyone heard from her?

The last I saw she had lost her login and had made a new account.

I miss her. I hope the confusion hasn't seen her suspended.

Good to see you Fekko

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 02/11/2019 17:26

Aw shucks, 🥰. Being a good girl 😒

BarbaraStrozzi · 02/11/2019 17:29

Was that one of those Goldsmiths' tours to Gulag Archipelago, Fekko? Good to see you back.

FannyCann · 02/11/2019 18:24

Ooh noes BarbaraStrozzi
They might have re-educated her.
Tell us it's not true Fekko

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 02/11/2019 20:21

it is arguable whether it is the best decision for the cat or the young child

It's most definitely not the best decision for the cat, as the cat is an obligate carnivore. I would argue that children also need and are entitled to a childhood without any unnecessary medical interventions and without having stupid gender roles quite literally imposed on their bodies when they are too young to give medical consent.

zebrasdontwearbras · 02/11/2019 21:10

Agree absolutely, kittens.

Tyrotoxicity · 02/11/2019 21:48

It's a beautiful analogy. I've known too many cats that don't identify as obligate carnivores. I still have a responsibility to keep them away from the crisps despite their protestations.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 02/11/2019 22:16

I have a photo somewhere of my old cat with his head stuck in an empty crisp packet. He was very determined!

GrinitchSpinach · 02/11/2019 22:22

Glad to see you back, Fekko. Was the gulag all it’s cracked up to be?

GirlDownUnder · 02/11/2019 22:28

Hey fekko Brew

Can someone get Orchid back now?

What is it with the mod’ing decisions at weekends?

Tyrotoxicity · 02/11/2019 22:36

I was at a barbecue during the summer and the cat had my coleslaw. Licked the mayonnaise off then crunched the vegetation with every sign of enjoyment. I think that particular cat identified as a dog, or possibly a hoover.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 02/11/2019 23:00

🍷 🍷 🍷 well it’s odd - especially when you suspect that some members are scrutinising certain boards, and aren’t really reporting in good faith but to cause ‘mischief’ with their mock horror and outrage. The site is merely protecting itself from hassle.

When did the others get their passports stamped? Mid last week was it?

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 02/11/2019 23:11

Should we start a bring back Orchid thread? Because banning longtime members because people who hate you and want your entire site shut down told you to really is a bit silly.

Tyrotoxicity · 02/11/2019 23:49

I approve while wryly noting that eventually we will be debating the need for one rolling thread or the first page of the board will be 99% plugged with appeal threads.

Mind, if we could have a weekly amnesty thread - every week we get to nominate a fallen sister to be reinstated without questions - they could probably monetise it somehow.

BernardBlacksWineIceLolly · 03/11/2019 10:06

had a polite reply to my query regarding my strike

We felt it was breaking our guidelines on civil debate and not making derogatory generalisations about trans people

unfortunately it still leaves me Confused. it appears to be saying that expressing the view that young children cannot be trans - in that they do not have the capacity to give informed consent to taking drugs, or even to 'social transition' is a derogatory generalisation

of course MNHQ do love a bit of middle class waffle, so I suspect that if i'd put the long winded version as above i would have remained unstricken

i suspect that it's really effective analogies that are banned. it'll make the site a bit dull if it catches on

Wine nice to see you back fekko

LangCleg · 03/11/2019 10:15

On a parenting website with, supposedly, a brand built on awareness of child protection issues, no less. Minors are embarking upon radical medical interventions and only one side of the argument about this is allowed to be expressed in anything but the most timid terms? Shocking.

As to allowing a 16-year-old caught up in this to post unrestricted (and get adult women sanctioned or banned) - WHERE IS THE DUTY OF CARE? Not to adult members (although that would be nice) - but to the minor person?

It's very upsetting to see this. Some upper management intervention is desperately required.

yes, I feel this very strongly. I reported that person's second thread pointing out that

  1. they had already trolled the site by lying about their identity
  2. if they really were a 16 year old child then MNHQ should act in their interests and pull the thread

i got a reply stating that MNHQ were 'closely monitoring' the thread

if that individual really was a vulnerable child (by definition a child doing to themselves what that person said they were doing is vulnerable) then there was no way that thread was going to be any good for them. i didn't post on it for that reason. and for that reason MNHQ should have pulled it.

HandsOffMyRights · 03/11/2019 10:28

Agree. I posted on that thread, expressing welfare concerns for a CHILD and reported it to MN using those same words 'duty of care'. Nothing came back and the thread stood.

Adults are supposed to protect children.

LangCleg · 03/11/2019 10:47

Regardless of the rights and wrongs of child transition, I really think this has been deeply irresponsible and unprofessional behaviour by MNHQ. It's both worrying and disappointing. Perhaps training is required on dealing with minors posting on the site?

OP posts:
BernardBlacksWineIceLolly · 03/11/2019 11:10

yes, it was an astonishing decision. and actually quite uncharacteristic of MNHQ. While I disagree with them frequently, they do normally get things like this right

very disappointing.

Ereshkigal · 03/11/2019 12:21

Which thread is this?

Matereality · 03/11/2019 12:35

I hope that the child's mother notices that thread and asks for it to be pulled.

HandsOffMyRights · 03/11/2019 12:38

In the first thread the OP (having just joined MN) poses as something they are not.
They are 16 but posing as the mother of a child (themselves) who is seeking to undergo transition. That thread was put on hold by MN. Orchid was deleted because she expressed concern.

In the follow up thread the same OP admits that they are in fact the child referred to in the original thread and that they pretended to be the parent.

Several.posters reported this thread and asked MN to intervene, given that this is a child talking about a double mastectomy and lots of adult issues. We called on MN's duty of care to protect a vulnerable child.

Ereshkigal · 03/11/2019 12:39

Thank you, appreciated
