Police treat a trans woman's rejection for a porn role as a hate crime

Ria Cooper received a text message saying they would be paid to have sex on camera, and Ria agreed to the offer.

The pornographer then said the offer had been cancelled because he found out that Ria has male reproductive organs.

Humberside Police is investigating the incident as a hate crime.

in glad the police have solved crime and have the time to investigate hurt feelings.

TinselAngel · 18/10/2019 13:35

How can it be a hate crime? There isn't a crime?

Ria would be better taking action for discrimination via employment law. That would be a fascinating case.

This was my favourite part:

Ria Cooper says she's speaking out to help other transgender people suffering abuse

What, to help other trans people who are excluded from heterosexual porn? Grin

WhittlingIhopMonkey · 18/10/2019 13:36

Shes responding to WhatsApps from strangers agreeing to be in their pornos? Sounds like a very messed up individual if nothing else.

PJsatMidday · 18/10/2019 13:37

Interesting. Will hetero men now be corralled into having sex with other male bodied people and shamed about their genital preferences, as lesbian women are?

DontBuyANewMumCashmere · 18/10/2019 13:40

Hang on, it doesn't say police are treating it as a hate crime, it says:
A spokeswoman for Humberside Police said: "We received a report of a hate incident yesterday, on Wednesday, October 16. The report has been logged and will be investigated."

They will investigate to see if the incident is in fact a crime that requires recording.
At this stage it remains an incident only, solely because someone has reported it.

Furthermore we don't know what element has been complained about, it could be a load of abuse on FB that he mentioned, not just the fact that he was turned down.
I can't believe a porn actor wouldn't accept that sometimes certain bodies aren't required in a particular porn shoot.

TheChampagneGalop · 18/10/2019 13:44

What if the police investigated the porn industry for all their misogynist hate crimes and rapes instead.

aliasundercover · 18/10/2019 13:46

I think I’m siding with the pornographer - how is this happening?

MockersthefeMANist · 18/10/2019 13:49

A hate crime is any crime motivated in whole or in part by the offender's discriminatory actions against the victim on account of their race/sex/whatever.

A hate incident is anything, absolutely anything any timewaster reports to the police as such. There is no investigation and no requirement for any evidence. I'll say that again: There is no requirement for any evidence. It just needs to be reported.

  • But that's mad Mockers, like talking to yourself!

I know. It's worse that that. It's as mad as answering yourself back.

BeyondAvoidant · 18/10/2019 13:57

Contract law and discrimination surely, rather than criminal?
A contract would (I assume) specify vaginal intercourse for instance, so Cooper would be in breach of that to sign it, and the pornographer would have legitimate recourse to end it. Or if the contract wasn't that specific then Cooper could sue for discrimination?

Either way, it's not criminal.

BlodwynBludd · 18/10/2019 14:02

Not criminal because no crime but would be a fascinating employment tribunal.

EndoplasmicReticulum · 18/10/2019 14:02

I agree with Whittling. Who responds to randoms asking them to be in porn via social media with a "yes"?

skql · 18/10/2019 14:03

cake waxing sex

Tyrotoxicity · 18/10/2019 14:06

Just came on to post this article.

Changing your mind about sex isn't a hate crime, ffs. It's not even a hate incident. There's no hatred involved in not being into dick!

Jaxhog · 18/10/2019 14:07

How can she have 'transitioned' if she still has all her male organs?? Or is wearing make-up and a dress enough these days.

Maybe the photographer should have just said he didn't want to have sex with her because he didn't fancy her. I think (hope!) you are still allowed to choose who you have sex with.

OrchidInTheRain · 18/10/2019 14:12

@Jaxhog - I'm sure I read the other day that 98% of men who identify as trans retain their male organs.

DanaPhoenix · 18/10/2019 14:13

Good grief 🙄

Tyrotoxicity · 18/10/2019 14:18

"It says on my social media profile that I am a ladyboy, I didn't ever say that I wasn't and I thought he knew."

Not sure why HDM are calling this person a woman, as it would seem that's not how they identify...

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 18/10/2019 14:19

wouldn't a job description sort this out?

"people with cock and balls need not apply"

GooseFeather · 18/10/2019 14:21

Jazhog you'd be surprised at just how many of the woke would consider what you have just written to be transphobic. Apparently, having a 'genital preference' and saying no to sex with someone once you discover the contents of their underwear is not as expected, is transphobic.

Tyrotoxicity · 18/10/2019 14:21

Digging through old articles.

www.hulldailymail.co.uk/news/hull-east-yorkshire-news/hull-woman-ria-cooper-change-287001

Transitioned aged 15. Detransitioned aged 18. Retransitioned aged 23. Make your bloody mind up, mate!

KennDodd · 18/10/2019 14:22

So if she/he wins is a Male 'actor' going to be required by law to have sex with him/her?

Or let me guess, it's lesbian porn?

Tyrotoxicity · 18/10/2019 14:25

KennDodd in between transitions one and two, this person identified as a gay man. So I'm guessing "lesbian" porn is off the menu.

GlitterToast · 18/10/2019 14:28

I feel really bad for this person. They seem very confused.

Tyrotoxicity · 18/10/2019 14:32

The earlier article I posted upthread tells a pretty miserable story, doesn't it?

Detransitioned because pretty well zero chance of finding love; used for sex by men so decided might as well charge for it; dreams of being a mum.

Miserable, yet also misogynistic.

I feel for that effeminate little boy on a council estate, who could never be comfortable just being himself because the world wouldn't let him.
