Police treat a trans woman's rejection for a porn role as a hate crime

Ria Cooper received a text message saying they would be paid to have sex on camera, and Ria agreed to the offer.

The pornographer then said the offer had been cancelled because he found out that Ria has male reproductive organs.

Humberside Police is investigating the incident as a hate crime.

Just a reminder that Harry has a hole that could do with some digging (in this context I would rather we had a different metaphor)

I hope the porn wannabee reads about this poor woman in same town and gets a sense of perspective.

Surely actors are turned down for roles all the time as being ‘not right for the part’. This isn’t hate crime nor discrimination?

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 20/10/2019 09:38

I’d suppose in that line of work ‘boobs/willy not huge enough’ would also be a reason to be turned down.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 20/10/2019 10:03

I'm pretty sure that in the entertainment industry (being a bit generous here) appearance is always considered a bone fide occupational qualification. For the millionth bloody time, why do the normal rules of engagement not apply to trans people?

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 20/10/2019 10:05

Just because ... innit?

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 20/10/2019 10:10

From the times :

“Police forces are recording suspected and convicted rapists as female if they no longer wish to identify with their male birth sex.

Six forces, including South Yorkshire and Thames Valley, disclosed under freedom of information laws that if someone is arrested for or convicted of rape, the official record will state the gender they chose to identify themselves as.“

For the love of god - what does gender have to do with anything? It’s sex. Sex. It’s your body.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 20/10/2019 10:12

Thing is, you can't be convicted of rape in the UK without having a penis, correct? So everyone will still know that anyone whose "gender" is anything other than "man" is male, because if not they couldn't have been convicted of rape. So what's the bloody point, other than to confuse people who don't know the definition of rape and give MRAs ammunition?

testing987654321 · 20/10/2019 10:39

It's not just rape though, is it? It's whatever crime they have committed. They get the chance to skew the figures by pretending they are women.

In the UK approximately 80,000 men are in prison and approx. 4000 women. If 1% of men identify as women that's equivalent to 20% of the women prisoners.

It's vital that we record the sex of criminals and house them accordingly.

This tide of utterly shite police news is coming in at the right time. In just over 5 weeks, I'll be facing down the entire fucking establishment, from the source (College of Policing) to the local (Humberside Police).

Can I be honest? I'm shitting it. The number of times I've wanted to chuck in the towel is in double figures. On Tuesday, under an onslaught of our and out lies in PC Gul's witness statement I even wrote to my lawyer and said, Fuck it. I'm out.

Good, calm advice from a Mumsnet Fair Cop colleague got me back on the horse. But, fuck me, it's scary. Rant over.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 20/10/2019 11:01

Rant away. Don’t ever forget why you are doing this.

I just want to know why this movement has such power.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 20/10/2019 11:08

It has to happen, though. Are we legally required to pretend that we think the emperor is wearing clothes? Yes or no? The majority of the public are clear on the fact that there are no clothes. Can we all be compelled to lie?

CottonHeadedNinyMuggins · 20/10/2019 11:14

Most likely complaining and making it public in an effort to get their name out there to get other offers of similar work imo 🤔

TwatticusFinch · 20/10/2019 11:20

Thing is, you can't be convicted of rape in the UK without having a penis, correct?

Technically you can be charged with rape if you don't have a penis if you did something like hold the victim down whilst someone else with a penis raped them @TheProdigalKittensReturn. I imagine that's quite rare though, whereas the number of penises-havers who want to identify as female after being arrested for rape seems to be on the increase.

HazzaTheOwl · 20/10/2019 12:08

We are increasingly being threatened with sanction if we don't subscribe to the she-bollocks. Judges, police, politicians, woke HR nutters.... but it's NOT law. They just act like it is and expect us to be terrified into playing along.

LoveGrowsWhere · 20/10/2019 12:43

It's compelled speech & dishonest. No pillars I want our justice system based upon.
