Poor Aimee did not get loving support from Twitter:

Why does everyone complain about MN not Twitter?

LoveGrowsWhere · 14/10/2019 21:37

Seriously? Not minimising hate crime (and how tight a definition are they using?) but more of an impact than other types of crime?

I’m blocked from Aimee’s account @Needmoresleep Grin so I can’t see it.

Needmoresleep · 14/10/2019 21:51

I use DH's account. He mainly follows Rugby League which does not seems to activate terfblocker.

Aimee and her dad are supposed to have written the first terfblocker. The problem apparently was the algorithms meant that some senior greens found themselves blocked.

JoxerGoesToStuttgart · 14/10/2019 21:53

Dammit I knew there was a reason i should’ve married by now! Grin

"Why does everyone complain about MN not Twitter?"
Because we're mostly women who should be nice.

Needmoresleep · 14/10/2019 21:59

Be assured you aren't missing much. Aimme thinks she can take on the big boys. However few of Piers' followers are convinced. Indeed they are being quite mean in a way that mums of MN would not be allowed to be mean. That does not alter the equation Hate = transphobia = MN.

From the prism website: "Prism was represented by some of our mentors; Duncan, Chris, Barbara, Simon, and Aimee. They were on hand to answer any questions about Prism or the LGBTQ+ Community in General. The team at Lush were lovely and helped us to raise £283 this money will go to help us support our Young People engage in further activities with our partners both during Prism sessions and across regional events.

Also secret locations, nobody listed on the website , no link to safeguarding info, FFS.

Sophia2222 · 15/10/2019 11:39

This was the 2nd version, the 1st one said something about the inability of Aimee to understand safeguarding issues.

SunsetBeetch · 15/10/2019 17:26

@PhilHealyWMP

Can I ask: did you say this?

If so, can you cite the evidence you are referring to?

I find it difficult to believe that name-calling (potentially) is more upsetting than being punched in the face (for example). t.co/6BpegiYB4Q

Hate crime has more impact than say rape or sexual assault or burglary?

Nice story bro

Does anyone think that this focus on hate crime is because it's trendy and an easy win in terms of reporting and solving and WYP don't do so well on rape?

The rainbow creates a nice distraction too...

SarahTancredi · 15/10/2019 17:49

Its probably cos its mens hurt feelings so they care about that.

Women are used to being yelled at in the streets and called slag from school age.

But cant have mens feelings hurt can we.

JoxerGoesToStuttgart · 15/10/2019 17:57

All of this^

For a force that is struggling to meet targets on other crimes this is one they can whip out and say “we’ve tackled hate crime here are our amazing figures” and they can even pull it out when asked about their work on sexual harassment against women etc because “hate crime” is so broad an idea they can say harassment falls under it so it’s sorted. Even if all the hate crime they’ve tackled is T related.

SarahTancredi · 15/10/2019 17:59

Except sex isnt a protected characteristic when it comes to hate crime so they could not put sexual harassment under hate crime.

So its clearly an acceptable thing to have shit rape track records Angry

JoxerGoesToStuttgart · 15/10/2019 18:01

Shhhh. Don’t point out the truth! Wink

AnyOldPrion · 16/10/2019 09:32

My personal theory is that some of these very damaged TRAs give people the total creeps. And those people then double down because they don't want to expose what they perceive as their own internalised transphobia.

Wow! Lightbulb moment for me. Half realised, but not fully put those pieces together.

And Kittens is right. No wonder the creepiness thread was under fire.

Love you women.

Well done to the Mirror for covering it.

ScrimshawTheSecond · 26/10/2019 21:48

Wow, I don't think I've seen any media outlet lay out the facts quite so baldly before. It is very, very unsettling to see it laid out like that - and that is even without mention of Aimee's fiance.

Highly disturbing.

teawamutu · 27/10/2019 08:55

Yes, shocking as it is it rather pulled its punches. Wonder if the comments will be open?

To be fair to Aimee, Aimee is quite right that the Veritas report talked about a lack of understanding of safeguarding and a need for training and support rather than a blanket 'shouldn't work with children'.

But given all that, why not give the role to one of the many, many people who DOES understand safeguarding and does have judgement?

Also wonder if the lack of mentioning of trans status plus photo are deliberate.

KatvonHostileExtremist · 27/10/2019 09:40

Also wonder if the lack of mentioning of trans status plus photo are deliberate.

I thought that, can't be accused of transphobia, that way.

AC wasn't booted from the Greens either, they flounced. But given the accusations of pedophilia against the fiancee weren't mentioned, I think AC got off lightly.

NotTerfNorCis · 27/10/2019 14:45

Oo I was just about to post that Mirror link. Annoying that they say woman rather than transwoman. It's misleading people.

GirlDownUnder · 27/10/2019 14:50

Aimee is getting married in 5 weeks, and will probably move to the States.

How lucky will the US be to benefit from all this experience.

Bon voyage!

ShesDressedInBlackAgain · 27/10/2019 15:31

Yes I'm unhappy with the elephant in the room in that article. Of course a person's natal sex is important when discussing safeguarding Hmm

OhHolyJesus · 27/10/2019 16:41

AC might not secure a spousal VISA so easily, NK might end up in the UK.
