Upfield (manufacturers of Flora marg, and Proactiv) don't want Mumsnet to buy their products any more

They've made the decision to 'no longer work with Mumsnet' because they want to 'treat everyone equally' because of their 'values'.

By this I'm sure they mean any woman who uses this site should definitely NOT buy their products. That would be an unpleasant association between mumsnet and their values that would be too much to bear.

Here is a helpful list of their products that they don't want in any way associated with Mumsnet:

Country rock
Flora
Rama
BlueBand
Lätta
Flora Proactiv
Becel
I can't believe it's not butter

Please don't sully their brands with any association from you, you horrid mumsnetters. Your money is tainted with unacceptable values.

They make Stork?
Does anyone else remember Bruce Forsythe on Have I Got News For You having a reminisce about advertising Stork? He then confessed he hated the stuff!
All the varieties of "spread" are nasty. They're just so fake. Give me real butter any day, I can always tell the real thing.
Funny, I can see a parallel here....

createadifference · 11/10/2019 16:20

They actually just pulled their advertising because this platform is a breeding ground for hate. Get over yourselves .

createadifference · 11/10/2019 16:20

nothing to do with feminism

youllhavehadyourtea · 11/10/2019 16:20

And this one

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/mumsnet_product_tests/3602515-Find-out-what-MNers-think-of-the-new-Flora-Original-recipe

This product test was open to all UK MNers with at least one child aged 0-12.

ifIwerenotanandroid · 11/10/2019 16:21

We've gradually been switching from Flora to butter anyway: it just tastes so much better. This stupidity is the final nail in the coffin. No more Flora in this house!

RoyalCorgi · 11/10/2019 16:21

is Mimmymum Suzie Green or someone else?

Mimmymum is called Helen something or other - she's the one who unsuccessfully sued transwoman Miranda Yardley for supposedly making transphobic remarks about Mimmymum's child.

TheAlternativeTentacle · 11/10/2019 16:21

I'd never heard of Upfield.

Now I know, but only to make sure never to purchase their products again.

Not that I had for years, I prefer the real thing to a fake imitation identifying as butter.

You can't make this shit up.

BrEeeeDign grouNd for hatE?

Er, ok.

Cantstopgrazing · 11/10/2019 16:24

I sometimes buy it, when it's on offer or for baking, but now I will make sure that I stay away from all of their products.

Ereshkigal · 11/10/2019 16:24

Maybe they are looking to rebrand “I can’t believe it’s not butter”? Can’t wait to see the adverts for “I identify as butter, and if you don’t believe that I am then you are a MERB (margarine exclusionary radical butterist)”

JustTurtlesAllTheWayDown · 11/10/2019 16:24

I'm vegan and just bought a bunch of Flora over other plant-based margarine because I saw the Mumsnet logo and wanted to support them.
Bloody irritated now.
Certainly wont buy any more and will be writing to them. Bloody disgraceful.

Trewser · 11/10/2019 16:25

It really isn't. Don't be over dramatic.

TiredofthisBS · 11/10/2019 16:25

As Flora doesn't want my money? Fine. I think they'll find they've shot themselves in the foot.
Just chuck my tub of Stork in the bin.

Trewser · 11/10/2019 16:26

That was to createadifference

AlwaysTawnyOwl · 11/10/2019 16:26

Never buy 'em anyway

Pam2419 · 11/10/2019 16:26

I hope Mumsnet stands firm against this attack of freedom of speech and thought.

Really chilling that it is Mumsnet that they are attacking rather than those organisations like Stonewall seeking to dismantle women's hard earned rights.

Pandaintheporridge · 11/10/2019 16:27

I've just baked a cake using Flora vegan stuff. Given how rarely I bake I suspect I can live without buying any more!
How rude of them.

CigarsofthePharoahs · 11/10/2019 16:28

This site isn't a breeding ground for anything, not thanks to the sheer amount of zoflora everyone claims to use.
I hope they don't go too woke.

Chaotica · 11/10/2019 16:28

Devastated that I'll no longer be able to buy their margarine which identifies as butter.

I'm not sure how anything in their action shows their commitment to treating everyone equally. Do they?

JustTurtlesAllTheWayDown · 11/10/2019 16:28

They actually just pulled their advertising because this platform is a breeding ground for hate. Get over yourselves

Supporting womens rights is not hate and it's incredibly telling that you think it is.
Women are not going to stop standing up for their rights. Get over that.

zen1 · 11/10/2019 16:29

I reckon it’s more the case that they’ve realised that there is little value in advertising on Mumsnet as their sales haven’t increased by doing so, but they wanted to give a woke reason for pulling the plug.
I haven’t had Flora since 1988 and remember being disappointed in it as a teen.

Ereshkigal · 11/10/2019 16:29

Trans fats 're real fats

Indeed! No contest Grin

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 11/10/2019 16:30

Is there a list of products and manufacturers who don’t want our custom? It’s hard to keep up...
Marmite
Dove
Lush
Ocado
Samsung
Lloyd’s can bugger off too...

CaptainKirksSpikeyGhost · 11/10/2019 16:31

They actually just pulled their advertising because this platform is a breeding ground for hate. Get over yourselves .

And yet there are millions of tubs out their right now advertising the site.
Mumsnet clearly already have their paycheck.
