Upfield (manufacturers of Flora marg, and Proactiv) don't want Mumsnet to buy their products any more

They've made the decision to 'no longer work with Mumsnet' because they want to 'treat everyone equally' because of their 'values'.

By this I'm sure they mean any woman who uses this site should definitely NOT buy their products. That would be an unpleasant association between mumsnet and their values that would be too much to bear.

Here is a helpful list of their products that they don't want in any way associated with Mumsnet:

Country rock
Flora
Rama
BlueBand
Lätta
Flora Proactiv
Becel
I can't believe it's not butter

Please don't sully their brands with any association from you, you horrid mumsnetters. Your money is tainted with unacceptable values.

They'll have to change 'Blue Band' to 'Blue & Pink Band'.

Stuff 'em. I boycotted South African products back in the day, I can boycott Leftfield's (or whatever they are called) products now.

CaptainKirksSpikeyGhost · 11/10/2019 15:58

youllhavehadyourtea

It's a shame they only researched after they paid to do this. Imagine if they did it before, they wouldn't have given MN any money.

SarahTancredi · 11/10/2019 15:59

Well it's no great loss to flora is it.i mean women are only responsible for the majority of the household budgeting /shopping etc.

And theres only a few million of us on here.

Wont make a dent in their profits at all....

Saucery · 11/10/2019 16:00

They all taste rank anyway. Pretending unsuccessfully to be something they are not, amusingly, given the circumstances

corlan · 11/10/2019 16:03

I did buy Flora but I won't anymore now they don't want my filthy money - fuck 'em!

happydappy2 · 11/10/2019 16:05

More details pls on using mayo to make cakes-anyone?

Trewser · 11/10/2019 16:06

Maybe they are looking to rebrand “I can’t believe it’s not butter”? Can’t wait to see the adverts for “I identify as butter, and if you don’t believe that I am then you are a MERB (margarine exclusionary radical butterist)”

All the lols

Thanks for the heads up. Those products will go on the naughty list.

ScrimshawTheSecond · 11/10/2019 16:08

Indeed. Does Flora even still exist? I thought it died in the 90s.

HumberElla · 11/10/2019 16:10

Flora and Stork join Strava and Ocado on the naughty step.

Special extra helpings to Birdseye, who stand up to bullies with amusing tweets.

misscockerspaniel · 11/10/2019 16:13

Dangerfloof

No, we are definitely not boycotting Hellmans. Well, not unless they change the name to Hellnon-binary or something similar. In fact, this may be a good time to invest in their shares, seeing that MNetters will now be baking with it.

Mummyoflittledragon · 11/10/2019 16:13

Does this apply to all Unilever brands?

Don’t care about any of the products above. But some Unilever, yes.

Mummyoflittledragon · 11/10/2019 16:14

Cross post misscocker

Qcng · 11/10/2019 16:16

Thank God I only buy Bertolli already. Never could stand that other crap.

SarahTancredi · 11/10/2019 16:16

Can someone recommend an alternative. I mean I dont like the new flora I liked the old one I dont really like butter but there must be a salted butter that will change my mind?

Cuntysnark · 11/10/2019 16:16

I once had the pleasure of emptying a fully loaded fridge that had been left with no electricity for over a year. It was rank, slime practically crawled out, and the smell! Even our ‘hard as nails’ builder mate wore a mask and continuously gagged. The Flora, however, looked like it had been purchased just the day before. Odd that.

Am intrigued by mayo as an alternative - I suppose a little like a yoghurt cake it should work very well. I will have to give it a go.

A friend of mine was using it in quiche pastry. We have a local producer who makes virgin rapeseed oil mayonnaise with garlic which is wonderful stuff.

starlingsintheslipstream · 11/10/2019 16:17

I have Stork in the fridge for baking if I want to whip up a quick sponge for the kids to have with custard - though I'm a bit ashamed now someone has said it's chock full of palm oil. Anyway I'll use up what I've got and then find a substitute. Same as with Ocado. Fools!

Qcng · 11/10/2019 16:17

I mean is Mimmymum Suzie Green or someone else?

AnneLovesGilbert · 11/10/2019 16:17

I’m a butter fan but DH has to have fake cholesterol reducing stuff. Benecol okay?

Somerville · 11/10/2019 16:17

They manufacture artificial butter, pack it in wholly unnecessary plastic tubs, and market it as a healthy option, but are dismissive of women who acknowledge biological reality? Grin Grin

Qcng · 11/10/2019 16:18

Benecol good
Bertolli good
