Upfield (manufacturers of Flora marg, and Proactiv) don't want Mumsnet to buy their products any more

They've made the decision to 'no longer work with Mumsnet' because they want to 'treat everyone equally' because of their 'values'.

By this I'm sure they mean any woman who uses this site should definitely NOT buy their products. That would be an unpleasant association between mumsnet and their values that would be too much to bear.

Here is a helpful list of their products that they don't want in any way associated with Mumsnet:

Country rock
Flora
Rama
BlueBand
Lätta
Flora Proactiv
Becel
I can't believe it's not butter

Please don't sully their brands with any association from you, you horrid mumsnetters. Your money is tainted with unacceptable values.

Hey upfield. Why do you hate women so much?

MrsSnippyPants · 11/10/2019 15:11

Butter only here too, but I will be telling my friends and family that this company have no respect for women and girls and their rights.

CaptainKirksSpikeyGhost · 11/10/2019 15:11

Isn't MN far to middle class for their spreads?

I don't know I buy the cheapest spread at the one stop shop, which right now is Kerrymaid buttery..... Or if i want some real butter Lurpack.
Flora is never the cheapest and it's never the nicest, it really doesn't seem to be marketed towards anybody.

HeadintheiClouds · 11/10/2019 15:12

Who the fuck do they think buys (or should I say bought...) their bloody products?! 😂 Halfwits.

All those products are DISGUSTING processed slime so no loss. Their attitude stinks too. Equality For Everyone .. except women with these particular views? No thanks.

WeBuiltCisCityOnSexistRoles · 11/10/2019 15:17

Well #FuckYouFlora basically.

Own goal there, methinks!

RadicalStitch · 11/10/2019 15:18

Well this will be the easiest boycott ever.

misscockerspaniel · 11/10/2019 15:18

Just want to flag up that they also make Stork.

thirdfiddle · 11/10/2019 15:20

I think DH does eat one of those - sure he won't mind changing brand.

ErrolTheDragon · 11/10/2019 15:21

Butter or olive oil.

Or home-rendered beef dripping for roasties and Yorkshire puds.

Flora contains palm oil, I've just read - that's enough to put many of us off it.

Apparently Stork is one of their brands too (I didn't know it still existed), and that's mainly palm oil.

CaptainKirksSpikeyGhost · 11/10/2019 15:21

They also make Stork.

You mean the Spread made from about 70% Palm Oil?

ShesDressedInBlackAgain · 11/10/2019 15:22

That's insane! Who does their SM? Total own goal!

CaptainKirksSpikeyGhost · 11/10/2019 15:22

x post.

VickyEadieofThigh · 11/10/2019 15:22

The branding of women being concerned about losing our rights as "hate" has been (probably) the cleverest bit of propaganda by the TRAs.

It's enabled them to persuade the keen-to-be-seen-as-woke that anything any woman says which is remotely different from chanting 'TWAW' over and over again is not to be heard, let alone considered.

It's how we get to the astonishing position of Cathy Brennan calling Linda Bellos "homophobic".

Never mind. We rise again. Fuck their appalling products. Flora is a misogynist company.

RufusthebewiIderedreindeer · 11/10/2019 15:23

Well this will be the easiest boycott ever

Agreed

TemporaryPermanent · 11/10/2019 15:23

Feeling upset. I dont want to lose Mumsnet because it becomes commercially unviable. Dont want it to be under attack. I know not everyone here agrees with the GC viewpoint, it's not fair on them either.

HeadintheiClouds · 11/10/2019 15:24

There’ll probably be a hurried retraction when they realise what the office junior has tweeted. This can’t possibly be a considered business decision made by someone who has half a clue what their remit is.

ReggaetonLente · 11/10/2019 15:24

Sweet, I'll stick with Vitalite. It's nicer anyway. (Vegans here)

Barracker · 11/10/2019 15:25

In surprise twist, it seems mumsnetters CAN believe it's not butter.
Turns out they can distinguish between the real thing and an imposter extremely well, even if the imposter uses a prefix.

Who could have predicted.

"Don't buy any of those products anyway so happy to join the boycott."

Yup, me too, happy to continue to not buy their stuff with my terfy cash Grin

terryleather · 11/10/2019 15:26

Just want to flag up that they also make Stork.

Many bakers favour marg , St. Mary Berry included, as it gives a lighter sponge...sorry but I still prefer butter and I prefer it even more now over woman-hating Stork!

OrchidInTheSun · 11/10/2019 15:27

93% of all grocery shopping is done by women. Mumsnet users are A,B,C1 consumers with higher than average disposable incomes and a high proportion of homeowners.

Obviously we are the perfect group to piss off.

I hope Helen makes sure she sticks to marg for ever more.

PlasticPatty · 11/10/2019 15:27

Fabulous. If I ever bought their products, I'd stop.

CaptainKirksSpikeyGhost · 11/10/2019 15:28

Put it this way do you ever remember Upfield products ever being advertised on here, ever?
