Upfield (manufacturers of Flora marg, and Proactiv) don't want Mumsnet to buy their products any more

They've made the decision to 'no longer work with Mumsnet' because they want to 'treat everyone equally' because of their 'values'.

By this I'm sure they mean any woman who uses this site should definitely NOT buy their products. That would be an unpleasant association between mumsnet and their values that would be too much to bear.

Here is a helpful list of their products that they don't want in any way associated with Mumsnet:

Country rock
Flora
Rama
BlueBand
Lätta
Flora Proactiv
Becel
I can't believe it's not butter

Please don't sully their brands with any association from you, you horrid mumsnetters. Your money is tainted with unacceptable values.

Flube!

(I'm not letting that stuff anywhere near my fanjo.)

TheAlternativeTentacle · 14/10/2019 16:21

Sorry to be the one to lower the tone, but suppose you’re a woke, right on, sex positive sort of company who can’t sell their questionably-food grease product to baking mums and nannas any more. Why not rebrand as a personal lubricant? They're one cosmetic safety certificate from a brave new market

I thought that thought last week, then I thought it was a bad thought and so I stopped myself from putting that thought in writing.

Someone had to go there though at some point.

TheAlternativeTentacle · 14/10/2019 16:22

Flube!

Shock Smile Envy

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 14/10/2019 16:22

And now I'm imagine the scenarios in which a right on person might buy a jumbo tub.

LangCleg · 14/10/2019 16:27

Bit scared, as a newbie, to post again on this thread.

Besides, I've got a mouth full of sick due to mention of Flube.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 14/10/2019 16:29

Jumbo Flube, for all your special occasion needs.

(If ever the tone needs lowering you can count on me!)

ErrolTheDragon · 14/10/2019 16:29

Sure it's not just WBH?

LangCleg · 14/10/2019 16:30

Errol! Stop giving away my newbie cover identity!

TirisfalPumpkin · 14/10/2019 16:31

It was a bad thought, but we’re living in bad times.

Also, someone in the Flora social media team no doubt has to monitor developments on the thread and report back to management.

More from Rosa Prince of the Telegraph

Apropos of nothing, I've just remembered how as a milk-refusing child I would sometimes have a weetabix thickly spread with butter for brekkie.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 14/10/2019 16:35

Rosa 👏

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 14/10/2019 16:37

It's pinkwashing, basically - come over all woke in social media where you think doing so will be a pure win and not cost you any money, and continue to do business with the regimes that give not a single fuck about the wellbeing of gay people behind the scenes.

Perhaps Flora could be invited in to be guest moderators for a day.

It would be interesting, though I doubt it would do Justine's business much good. They don't seem to understand the concept of a core market.

Juells · 14/10/2019 16:42

From the Telegraph article
And talking of homosexuality, it is striking to note that on Thursday, the day before the withdrawal of Flora from Mumsnet, 4,000 miles away in Uganda, the government announced the reinstatement of a law known colloquially as “Kill the Gays” because it introduces the death penalty for homosexual acts. That’s at the very least a breach of Articles Two, Three and Seven of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

It is unclear whether Uganda is among the 96 countries in which Upfield operates; however the firm recently advertised on LinkedIn for a “territory manager” for Uganda, based in the capital, Kampala. The company did not respond to a request to clarify this. In a way, it doesn’t matter.

It's a good article, though she's being very careful what she says about puberty-blockers - "The NHS says the effects are fully reversible, so treatment can be stopped at any time."

Juells · 14/10/2019 16:45

I love the way ridiculous virtue-signalling sends journalists on the hunt for the inevitable feet of clay. There are always feet of clay.

HumberElla · 14/10/2019 16:45

Very astute of Rosa Prince! The press are bloody loving it.

That statement on the complaints page though. ‘We support mummies but hey, Human rights policy’ my arse.

Hey Flora! I totes support you, but I must adhere to our policy of preventing fluffy baby orangutans being massacred to extinction for your profit-mongering directors to buy bigger yachts. (sad regret face)

Qcng · 14/10/2019 16:46

^Oops!
Re Rachel Rooney I was thinking of Coleen Rooney! Haha Rachel Rooney is a random teacher/poet. But still... She's on side!

SorryAuntLydia · 14/10/2019 16:48

Is anyone else confused by Upfield’s claim to be ‘supportive of women and mums’? Surely mums are a subset of women?

Juells · 14/10/2019 16:52

‘supportive of women and mums’

I didn't think it through as well as you did, but it made my hackles rise. So patronising. "Quick, quick, tell the little women that we like them really"

KatvonHostileExtremist · 14/10/2019 17:02

They're not going to like being called fascists. Nopey nope.

That's there special word to devalue.

KatvonHostileExtremist · 14/10/2019 17:03

*their

Ereshkigal · 14/10/2019 17:08

I mean, we all know that what they mean is that MN should shut down the feminist forum. But even Upfield realize that saying that wouldn't exactly scream "we totally support women we do".

Yes exactly.

Ereshkigal · 14/10/2019 17:10

If anyone wants to eat frankenspread just to stick it to those nasty disobedient women then hey, on their own bad cholesterol levels and heart health be it.

Do enjoy, Pink News fans! Wine
