Upfield (manufacturers of Flora marg, and Proactiv) don't want Mumsnet to buy their products any more

They've made the decision to 'no longer work with Mumsnet' because they want to 'treat everyone equally' because of their 'values'.

By this I'm sure they mean any woman who uses this site should definitely NOT buy their products. That would be an unpleasant association between mumsnet and their values that would be too much to bear.

Here is a helpful list of their products that they don't want in any way associated with Mumsnet:

Country rock
Flora
Rama
BlueBand
Lätta
Flora Proactiv
Becel
I can't believe it's not butter

Please don't sully their brands with any association from you, you horrid mumsnetters. Your money is tainted with unacceptable values.

@ Needmoresleep - what did trainline do?

TiredofthisBS · 14/10/2019 15:39

I get the impression that it's not going well for Upfields. 🤔 Good. Misogynistic condescending woke morons.

Needmoresleep · 14/10/2019 15:40

It’s upthread. (Somewhere!) Upfield in turn are owned by a large American holding company who also own Trainline.

Will do a search when I am back at PC.

"We told them to stop but they are still doing it"
"Did they understand what you told them"
"I think so, but they said no"

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 14/10/2019 15:42

I do feel a bit sorry for whichever person came in today to an urgent message in their email saying "RE Twitter policy announcement - We're being boycotted by mothers".

Needmoresleep · 14/10/2019 15:45

I don’t. There is something quite wrong with their corporate culture but prioritises woke signalling over common sense. They did an ‘investigation’ before making their decision.

Why, if they used their brain it wouldn't have happened.

CaptainKirksSpikeyGhost · 14/10/2019 15:46

I bet you a fiver they've had diversity training from mermaids.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 14/10/2019 15:48

Was this an actual corporate decision involving the people who will now be dealing with the fallout? The reason I'm not sure is the speed with which the decision was made and the fact that it was announced on Twitter. It all seems a bit young person who turns the corporate Twitter account going off piste.

Young twitter interns do not have the power to terminate contracts. They were looking for any kind of excuse.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 14/10/2019 15:51

That's the thing - a one day investigation prompted by one comment on Twitter? Really? This is not how large organizations typically work.

So either this was already planned and they're just spinning it as an investigation prompted by Mimmymum's tweet or something else non standard and distinctly dodgy is going on.

KatvonHostileExtremist · 14/10/2019 15:52

Oh My GOD

The comments - they, they ARE GOING TO START TO BUY FLORA 😂😂😂😂😂😂

YOU TOTALLY DESERVE IT YOU BUNCH OF ✊🍆💦

ErrolTheDragon · 14/10/2019 15:52

Too little, too late.

Their 'investigation' prompted my investigation of their ingredients (which I'd not done before). DH doesn't want to eat even 'sustainable' palm oil so that's that.

Juells · 14/10/2019 15:56

It's so patronising. Not tangling with Kiwi Farms, but turning their marg-fuelled brains onto the thorny subject of how to make sure women act nice.

Women. Not doing what they're told! What are they like?

Faulty Stepford mummy bots, having opinions of their own. Quick, send them back to the factory, they're malfunctioning.

BernardBlacksWineIceLolly · 14/10/2019 15:56

New go to insult

YOU DESERVE TO BUY FLORA

now get out of my sight

ErrolTheDragon · 14/10/2019 15:58

Though if they unequivocally commit to supporting the right of women to discuss matters which impinge on women's rights and for parents to air concerns about children's well-being, I suppose I might consider their sunflower oil ... if I ever feel the need for anything other than olive (light for cooking, extra virgin for salads etc)

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 14/10/2019 16:04

"Sustainable" palm oil is bollocks.

If anyone wants to eat frankenspread just to stick it to those nasty disobedient women then hey, on their own bad cholesterol levels and heart health be it.

lottiegarbanzo · 14/10/2019 16:07

What I'd really like the marg manufacturer to explain, is what human rights is anybody denying anybody else, or trying to?

Everyone has the same human rights.

Needmoresleep · 14/10/2019 16:08

I wonder if there are potential reactions between artificial hormones/puberty blockers and the various ingredients in Flora?

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 14/10/2019 16:09

Again, looking at those ingredients just makes me go, there is no food in this food, nobody should be eating this.

TirisfalPumpkin · 14/10/2019 16:13

Sorry to be the one to lower the tone, but suppose you’re a woke, right on, sex positive sort of company who can’t sell their questionably-food grease product to baking mums and nannas any more. Why not rebrand as a personal lubricant? They're one cosmetic safety certificate from a brave new market.

WeBuiltCisCityOnSexistRoles · 14/10/2019 16:15

Flora lube.

Flube.

And loving this headline in the Telegraph

www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2019/10/14/mumsnet-users-quite-right-boycott-flora-margarine-stance-trans/

The curious case of Mumsnet, Flora margarine, and the spread of fascism in the trans-gender debate

spread of facism!
