Upfield (manufacturers of Flora marg, and Proactiv) don't want Mumsnet to buy their products any more

They've made the decision to 'no longer work with Mumsnet' because they want to 'treat everyone equally' because of their 'values'.

By this I'm sure they mean any woman who uses this site should definitely NOT buy their products. That would be an unpleasant association between mumsnet and their values that would be too much to bear.

Here is a helpful list of their products that they don't want in any way associated with Mumsnet:

Country rock
Flora
Rama
BlueBand
Lätta
Flora Proactiv
Becel
I can't believe it's not butter

Please don't sully their brands with any association from you, you horrid mumsnetters. Your money is tainted with unacceptable values.

Ummmm I’m hoping that is someone going for a screenshot ‘told ya so!’. Reported.

SunsetBeetch · 13/10/2019 16:57

Yeah nice trolling Novo. Reported.

AyeRobot · 13/10/2019 17:00

Novocastrian did you forget to name change? I saw you berating FWR for being transphobic on another thread Confused

SarahTancredi · 13/10/2019 17:01

Busted

DuMondeB · 13/10/2019 17:01

Yeah. We don’t agree with that, Novo
Male transsexuals have different health, social and political needs to those of women. Doesn’t mean they should be judged as anything but individuals.

MonkeyToesOfDoom · 13/10/2019 17:01

I'd wager most, if not all, screen shots of the proof of transphobia on MN is actually trolls posting it purely to screen shot it and share it on twitter amongst the various echo chambers.

CaptainKirksSpikeyGhost · 13/10/2019 17:03

Yes, a screenshot is all that's needed after all "I've never been on the site, but it's horrible!!!"

TheChampagneGalop · 13/10/2019 17:04

It's difficult to smear MN when MN isn't transphobic enough, so anti-MN trolls have to make their own transphobic posts to screenshot. Pathetic.

Dyrne · 13/10/2019 17:05

Wow, less than 10 mins until a fake transphobic comments was deleted. Tell me again how MN are clearly cultivating a hotbed of hate???

RiotAndAlarum · 13/10/2019 17:06

Also reported. If it wasn't trolling, it's just dumb as a rock to try to persuade Mumsnetters like that. For one thing, our swearing is articulate, measured and often witty. Your swearing is more like, "blah-fuck, blah-fuck, shitey-ho, gibber gibber badthing wank."

MonkeyToesOfDoom · 13/10/2019 17:06

It's one of the reasons i think MN should employ mods 24/7 and not rely on voluntary night shifts.
Not that the night watch folk do a bad job, bit I reckon they'll be inundated by the TRA / MRAs fraternities.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 13/10/2019 17:09

Mods are busy. Not enough eyes. Make lots of reports and then drop a toxic comment.

Ineedacupofteadesperately · 13/10/2019 17:14

Why is it that now when I see any company say they want to "treat everyone equally" I just assume this means throwing the half of the population that has the capacity to bear children under the bus?

My boycott list is getting every longer. Still, as I do all shopping and spending around here it is an addition to my mental load that gives me enormous satisfaction.

I also now eat far too much Birds Eye produce (yum potato waffles).

Agree. If you see a rainbow, avoid. Because all you'll find is a pot of gold. Lamé.

VickyEadieofThigh · 13/10/2019 18:01

Twitter is awash with horrendous stuff: homophobic, racist, paedophilia. Facebook: similarly.

Mumsnet: deals with such things by deleting and banning where necessary.

STILL we have people fetching up on here insisting that transphobia is permitted, yet when asked for receipts, either huffily claim "there's no point" or (more honestly but very ironically) say "Well, you know perfectly well I can't because they've been deleted..."

Is it because we is women that we're not permitted to discuss issues which can and will dramatically affect us?

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 13/10/2019 18:02

And when they can’t don’t one they post it themselves and take a screenshot PDQ.

Lamahaha · 13/10/2019 18:18

@Juells After months of dreadful self-indulgence I repented and went for a cholesterol test, dreading the results, and my bad cholesterol levels had reduced by over 10% and the good had gone way up 😲 I don't eat meat, but that hadn't helped the cholesterol levels in the past.

The whole "butter is bad for you, cholesterol etc etc etc* was a huge con. It was propagated back in the 50's 60's by the manufacturers of fake oils and fats, ie, margarine and co. They came out with this whole saturated fats scare, and none of it is true. I won't post any links here but there's a lot of info on the web about what happened, and how we all, including doctors, were conned into shunning butter and animal fats in general. Good for you, you found out on your own!
The testimonies of 99% on MNers on this thread, that Flora tastes vile, is actually proof enough.
I wouldn't know, though; I never touch margarine, not even with a barge pole.
(I also have a thing about butter; I don't eat it on bread. Something to do with butter being kept in a jar at home when I was small, half melted and greasy, and it turned my stomach. I do use it to cook with, though, and in cakes etc.)

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 13/10/2019 18:51

Got high cholesterol? Eat porridge for brekkie and go for a run a couple of times a week.

StrangeLookingParasite · 13/10/2019 21:32

A prominent person in the GC debate said to me elsewhere yesterday, that they had heard it might be hatred of the trans widows thread by the TRA's that had caused the targeting of Flora.

My god, how much of an utter narcissist would you need to be to object to our transwidows?

(Rhetorical question, obviously).

Juells · 13/10/2019 21:39

People may have recognised their own behaviour, and be annoyed that it wasn't being acknowledged as being brave and stunning.

MN has also been targeted by Fathers 4 Justice for being "manhating"

It wouldn't surprise me if among the activists there are abusive ex-partners who are angry that MN has helped their now ex-wives. Both then and now.

socialworker222 · 13/10/2019 22:21

I'm one of the widows, and am so heartened by all your support. And totally, I imagine many an ex is outraged at some home truths being exposed and described by us. It can't be dismissed as opinion or bigotry. We live and lived it. And we know it isn't the rainbow la-la land we are meant to uphold. We know what we and our kids went and go through, and MN is a rare place where we have been heard and offered shelter. I've no idea if we are particularly important in this lobbying but so be it. I hope the late transitioning fathers and partners lurking around our space recognize themselves and feel some uncomfortable shame and scrutiny. MN has offered a space for women in oppressed situations before and should be proud of itself and its stunning and brave contributors. The irony of transactivists trying to harass, intimidate, threaten and erase critics is not lost on any of us.

Creepster · 13/10/2019 22:56

The transwidows have provided essential consciousness raising for the rest of us and I am grateful to them for it.
