Sheffield strip club keeps licence despite opposition by feminist coalition

stumbledin · 18/09/2019 16:13

From the way the Guardian reports it (but does anyone think their reporting is unbiased) the undercover filming that campaigners organised has worked against them.

I think the licence will be reviewer again in a year. Have a horrible feeling that if it hadn't been "feminists" campaigning but "local" people the council would have acted differently. The patriarchy likes to be seen to slapping down uppity women.

They didn't even value the opinion of the local Rape Crisis Centre which works nearby. Sad

They pay £480 an hour to sit and chat shock why do you charge them that much if all they are doing is chatting?!

Correct. That's the price of one hour of my time in the club. I don't get to set the prices. £120 for 15 mins. Although if someone wanted all night we were allowed to to a deal to some degree at our discretion...say three hours for £1200.

And to make (what is hopefully an interesting point) I haven't got a clue why. I mean, believe me when I say, there's not a thing I don't know about this job. It's not from lack of experience, or ignorance, but I genuinely don't know what the hell made people spend that on a regular basis. It can only be that I was that good at making the time enjoyable, and I don't say that to blow smoke up myself, I say it because:

If you're lonely, you can pay an escort £200 an hour. That's far cheaper than me.

If you're troubled, and need to talk to someone, see a therapist, £200-300 an hour. They're qualified professionals and far cheaper than me.

If you're looking for sexual fulfillment, see a prostitute, where you go from just touching to full sex for £200 an hour. Far cheaper and you actually get "something" instead of my daft ass twirling about in plastic shoes and sparkly pants.

I could never quite figure why. I never really cared as both parties were happy.

RosesAndRaindrops · 19/09/2019 20:29

Oh look, another one - crossing out astroturfers as an insult doesn't mean it's magically not there.
Just proves the point I was just making about accusations if nothing else.
BeMoreMagdalen?
OK - I'll keep on not giving a shit if I'm not being womanly enough, and realise I have my own voice and so do others.

LangCleg · 19/09/2019 20:29

I still don't support workplace CCTV and never have, including on this thread. Please acknowledge, Roses.

RufusthebewiIderedreindeer · 19/09/2019 20:30

Yeah you did, with your "Canada I believe and what are you talking about she lives in Britain" nonsense

No i havent

You’ve misunderstood

Again

RufusthebewiIderedreindeer · 19/09/2019 20:32

Ive not made any comments about any poster on this thread being in a different time zone

I would be grateful if you could stop making stuff up about me

RosesAndRaindrops · 19/09/2019 20:33

No i havent

You’ve misunderstood

Again

Well maybe there wouldn't be so many confusions if people didn't drag across other threads, insinuate things towards others for disagreeing, and then do the wide eyed "didn't mean that silly".
Just a thought.

RufusthebewiIderedreindeer · 19/09/2019 20:35

Well maybe there wouldn't be so many confusions if people didn't drag across other threads, insinuate things towards others for disagreeing, and then do the wide eyed "didn't mean that silly

Again for any lurkers

I haven’t done any of that

Or, you could, you know...read.

General you.
As there's been lots of it.
Then you came along and added to it all by Canada/Britain nonsense.
It's fucking ridiculous.

RufusthebewiIderedreindeer · 19/09/2019 20:37

Then you came along and added to it all by Canada/Britain nonsense

It wasn’t nonsense

You just misunderstood

RufusthebewiIderedreindeer · 19/09/2019 20:38

Its ok to misunderstand stuff

Its not right to attack another poster because you’ve misunderstood something

RosesAndRaindrops · 19/09/2019 20:38

General you, Rufus,
GENERAL.
Seems I'm not the only one not reading properly as there seems to be others who aren't either (general)

BeMoreMagdalen · 19/09/2019 20:38

Roses, it's not an insult. You're being played by pro sex industry posters who are here to promote the happy hooker myth to distract from any discussion about the evils of the sex industry. Astroturfing is what it's called when the industry wants to spin 'grassroots' stories so the gullible will support the cock centred industry.

Sure, you being gullible enough to fall for it so spectacularly is fairly unpleasant for you, and I don't doubt that you really think you are freely choosing to stick up for women, but just like every other thread you've tiresomely filibustered during your time on FWR, you've picked the Anti-Woman side. That's not an insult. You really are that daft.

RufusthebewiIderedreindeer · 19/09/2019 20:40

General you obviously includes me

Thats why its general

TinselAngel · 19/09/2019 20:42

drag across other threads,

Is there an etiquette that people's posts on other threads shouldn't be referred to that I'm not aware of?

RosesAndRaindrops · 19/09/2019 20:43

You're being played by pro sex industry posters who are here to promote the happy hooker myth to distract from any discussion about the evils of the sex industry.

And you're happy to think you speak for all women and that's not OK.
They must automatically be told to promote it and can't possibly be posting as an individual in good faith or know their own mind.
Fine.
Good for you.
You don't speak for everyone though.
Belittling views to silence other women isn't an OK way to act, and if you agree it is, well fine.
Says a lot about you if so.
And before someone says "oh the irony" - I've never belittled, patronised or resorted to personal attacks on any thread, just disagreed with people.

RufusthebewiIderedreindeer · 19/09/2019 20:44

tinsel

Dunno...i dont do it because I rarely remember other threads Grin

PennysPocket · 19/09/2019 20:46

Any woman that supports or promotes an industry that for God knows how many years has kept women oppressed is not a feminist.
It does not matter that 1 woman out of 20 does it cos they love it. NINETEEN women are being abused because men want sex.
We fight our oppression. Not the apologists.

BeMoreMagdalen · 19/09/2019 20:49

It's a convention to not follow someone round bringing up other stuff. But it's a forum and if someone does something significant, memorable and relevant, there's no rule that says it must never be mentioned, because that's not how conversation works.

Though obviously some people here don't readily grasp clear communication and that sort of thing, so I can understand there is confusion.

RosesAndRaindrops · 19/09/2019 20:49

That's the radical stance though. We're not all radical.
What on earth is unfeminist about thinking women are capable of independent thought just like men?
Either women know their own mind or they don't and they need to be told what to do.
Which one is it to be?

RosesAndRaindrops · 19/09/2019 20:50

That was to Penny (why can't we have a quote button on MN, would make things a lot easier!)

Courtney555 · 19/09/2019 20:56

@RosesAndRaindrops

You're being played by pro sex industry posters who are here to promote the happy hooker myth

And here they go with their name calling like something out of a playground, and also, just to clarify, I'm a merely a "myth" Grin ...but it's you and I Roses, who are anti-woman Grin

to distract from any discussion about the evils of the sex industry. Astroturfing is what it's called when the industry wants to spin 'grassroots' stories so the gullible will support the cock centred industry.

Oh my dear, you see until you can understand that women in this industry are happy, until you can get your head around that painfully simple concept, until you accept that sure, there will be odd exceptions, but they categorically do not represent the rule, you call anyone who does accept that actual, real life experience, gullible.

Because again, that's all they do. Name call. And have no experience but every unfounded opinion because you've been on Google. But don't forget Roses, we're the anti-woman ones Grin

Sure, you being gullible enough to fall for it so spectacularly is fairly unpleasant for you, and I don't doubt that you really think you are freely choosing to stick up for women, but just like every other thread you've tiresomely filibustered during your time on FWR, you've picked the Anti-Woman side.

Dear Roses. Just to spell it out, you are indeed stupid. Grin

That's not an insult. You really are that daft.

And the worst bit is, they believe that.

Honestly, we love women like you Roses. And you're growing in numbers as people realise what a massive hypocrisy this bullshit "Captain-Save-A-Ho" movement is.

You're not gullible any more than I'm a myth. You're just capable of understanding.

PennysPocket · 19/09/2019 20:58

What on earth is unfeminist about thinking women are capable of independent thought just like men?
Either women know their own mind or they don't and they need to be told what to do.
Which one is it to be?

In civilised society we all follow rules. They are rules of law or rules of morality.

Women since the dawn of time are td our point in life is to procreate and serve men.
Sadly despite changes in law men still rule the world. The only thing they need us for is sex.
98% of the sex industry is based on Male wants. We strip dance and fuck because males demand it.
If women rely had a say the porn industry would not be as profitable as it is.

Don't be stupid.
We have been raped and pilladged for a thousand years. The reasons are still the fucking same. Men's wants.

RosesAndRaindrops · 19/09/2019 20:58

It's a convention to not follow someone round bringing up other stuff

So you agree with my point but automatically follow it up with an insult.
Right.
OK

But it's a forum and if someone does something significant, memorable and relevant, there's no rule that says it must never be mentioned, because that's not how conversation works
It is a problem when it was done on this thread though, as it was originally done to insinuate wrongdoing.
Don't you understand that it's not a reading comprehension fail just because I don't agree with you?!
I read it perfectly fine. I just don't agree with you. As it's not OK to do that even if you missed it or don't want to see it, who knows.
