Sand dancer 💪

littlbrowndog · 15/09/2019 22:38

But is this just total corruption by Erhc?
Are they corrupt ?

littlbrowndog · 15/09/2019 22:41

Why are they doing this. Who is pushing them to do this

Where is the corruption being driven by

Is there money in this ?

GColdtimer · 15/09/2019 22:47

@Sanddancer99 I have sent you a PM.

TimeLady · 15/09/2019 23:02

I noted the mention of David Isaac upthread. I didn't realise the significance until I spotted this amongst The Times comments

The chair of the Equality and Human Rights Commission is David Issac, ex Chair of Stonewall.

and indeed he is:

www.equalityhumanrights.com/en/who-we-are/our-commissioners-committees-and-governance/about-our-commissioners

David Isaac CBE (Chair)

David is a partner at law firm Pinsent Masons and was previously Chair of Stonewall from 2003 to 2012.

Ereshkigal · 15/09/2019 23:59

All very cosy, isn't it?

TimeLady · 16/09/2019 05:16

I swear that gravy train has been fitted with revolving doors.

I think we can start to see where his priorities might lie:

www.pinsentmasons.com/about-us/announcements/pinsent-masons-partner-ranked-among-lgbt-pioneers

He's also been a director/trustee of the Big Lottery Fund since 2014. H'mm, wasn't that where Mermaids got that huge chunk of funding from?

And talking of Mermaids...…..

www.equalityhumanrights.com/en/our-work/news/transgender-children-failed-system-warns-equality-chair

Clearly one to watch.

TimeLady · 16/09/2019 07:50

David Isaac was also (briefly, it seems) a trustee of the Human Dignity Trust which is

an international organisation using the law to defend the human rights of LGBT people.

Formed in 2011, the Human Dignity Trust is the only organisation working globally to use strategic litigation to defend the human rights of LGBT people. Based in London, our team of lawyers, researchers, activists and communications specialists work with activists and lawyers across the world.

Hardly impartial in any trans vs women's rights debate, I would suggest.

RoyalCorgi · 16/09/2019 08:04

The only reassuring thing is that if you look at the Times and Mail articles, both have comments sections overwhelmingly opposed to the EHRC guidance.

Apart from which, the EHRC guidance, as I understand it, is illegal. I'm not a lawyer, obviously, but I wonder if there is an opportunity to fight this in the courts.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD
You asked up thread if school girls were still bolshy and in my experience, yes they are.
I think the 'be kind' is strong in them, but many of them have been raised by feminists so are able to think for themselves.
My DD is 12. She is a bolshy independent thinker and is not a people pleaser. She says her friends are pretty similar!
Only this week she came home having had a conversation with a couple of boys in her class. Apparently said boys had just realised what unisex (gender neutral) toilets were and frankly were perving at the prospect of being able to get into the same toilet as the girls. Charming. DD is adamant that boys should not be allowed in the girls spaces - I've suggested if her school tries to change the facilities then the pupils should let their feelings about that be heard. There's no objection to having a third option, but even at 12 years old they can see the need for single sex provision for dignity and privacy.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 16/09/2019 08:40

@Beamur - that’s brilliant! I was worried that the new gen feminists had lost the plot slightly, forgotten why this is necessary and unquestioningly embraced the rainbow. That’s cheered me up on a grey Monday morning.

TimeLady · 16/09/2019 08:43

The only reassuring thing is that if you look at the Times and Mail articles, both have comments sections overwhelmingly opposed to the EHRC guidance.

Without The Times and the Mail, we'd be fighting a lost cause by this stage. Thanks to them, at least the other side of the argument is now being heard.

Beamur · 16/09/2019 08:55

Even at this age they are aware (some of them anyway) about self ID and it's ramifications.
Dd and I talked about this and I could feel her bristling slightly (the be kind/be fair reflex) she went off and talked to her peers. Later she came back and talked to me again. They can see self ID can be abused. They can also see that the trans narrative of if you want to dress/have long/short hair etc, that makes you a different gender is reinforcing negative gender stereotypes and they don't like it. They want to be strong girls with short hair (or long hair) wear trousers (or skirts) and enjoy maths (or English) and know that they are still girls - and be happy with that.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 16/09/2019 08:57

😁

AlwaysTawnyOwl · 16/09/2019 09:11

Sanddancer/GColdtimer thank you for your helpful posts. I’ve already written to my MP yesterday will do the rest today.

Sunkisses · 16/09/2019 12:47

@twelvecolourfulbirds is absolutely right that only civil disobedience will stop this transcult juggernaught from bulldozing over the rights of women and girls. All of us need to step up. Get offline, and start acting in the real world. Be braver.

  1. Write to your head of PSHE and RSE at your kid's school and ask to see the content of the PSHE and RSE curriculums. If contains trans ideology, say you do not believe in this ideology, regard it as extremely harmful and want to be notified of any lessons containing this ideology so you can withdraw your child. Encourage other parents to do the same. CC all correspondence to the Head.
  2. Write to your MP, send them links to key articles about safeguarding of children. Ask them to forward your correspondence to Liz Truss, the new Women & Equalities Minister
  3. Write to the EHRC and ask them not to sacrifice the rights of girls to privacy, dignity and safety. Ask them to rewrite the guidance having regard to the rights, safety, privacy and dignity of girls.
www.equalityhumanrights.com/en/contact-us/general-enquiries-and-information
  1. Campaign against mixed sex loos. If they've already been fitted in your school, campaign anyway to get them reversed, ask to see the Equality Impact Assessment (they probably didn't do one, as they should have done)
  2. Use all the resources from the Safe Schools Alliance: safeschoolsallianceuk.net
LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 16/09/2019 13:21

I just have a boy at school - but he says that there is one male who ids as female (no one bats an eyelid apparently - and they just get on with their studies and doesn't make a Huge Deal out of it).

I asked him what the girls thought about it but he didn't know (girls are there for A level and he is younger). Some students board, so I assume there is safeguarding in place if this child boards.

truthisarevolutionaryact · 16/09/2019 20:48

Just written to my MP.
One quick suggestion that might be worth mentioning:
These EHRC guidelines are direct conflict with the new DfE statutory guidelines for Sex & Relationships education which wants children to understand “ boundaries and privacy - ensuring young people understand that they have rights over their own bodies”. The EHRC actively removes the ability of children to consent by insisting that they must undress in front of the opposite sex, even if they don't consent. Add to this the coercive control aspect of threatening exclusion from a changing room for any child who objects. This contravenes core guidance about children's emotional, social wellbeing, removes their ability to consent and breaches basic safeguarding guidance.

it's been hard to write a coherent letter as I'm so bloody furious. Angry

Yesterdaysleftovers · 16/09/2019 20:56

Hi - a long-time lurker here - this is the issue which has finally spurred me to post! (I have a legal and government background and this is just so wrong.) I have emailed Liz Truss and I was trying to work out how to approach EHRC, but unfortunately their complaints procedure redirects “general” queries elsewhere and I worry that they will deflect any FOI requests on the basis that “it’s just a draft”. The concern then is that the guidance will be slipped out in October during the Brexit mayhem. I therefore wanted to stand up now and say that when this rubbish is finally issued, I am happy to contribute both financially and in whatever other way I can to the fight back. To the barricades!

GColdtimer · 16/09/2019 22:09

This is the SSAUK call to action. @truthisarevolutionaryact I have shared your post with some groups. Its a great one.

URGENT ACTION REQUIRED
We need to show EHRC that parents mean business.
Please could everyone write to EHRC expressing concern about the leaked draft guidance and asking them carry out a public consultation on this matter. Reference the Times article and say they need to consider the privacy, safety and dignity of girls in schools. Share the FPFW article here: fairplayforwomen.com/draft_ehrc_schools/
www.thetimes.co.uk/…/girls-must-bow-to-trans-rights…
EHRC contact details: www.equalityhumanrights.com/…/general-enquiries-and…
Pease also write to your MP about your concerns about the EHRC and ask them to forward your email to Liz Truss and Gavin Williams. Reference The Sunday Times article, the FPFP piece and Safe Schools Alliance website
www.theyworkforyou.com
Please could you share this in any GC groups you are in. We have a small window. We need to exploit it.

Birdsfoottrefoil · 16/09/2019 22:14

Can I add to GColdtimer’s request and say if in Scotland write to your six MSPs too

truthisarevolutionaryact · 16/09/2019 23:09

Excellent links and advice GColdtimer .
Is this on Chat or Aibu yet?? I know some will object but the SSAUK materials are so good and clear and with the Times article as a start - I actually think many many parents would write if they knew what was happening?

AlwaysTawnyOwl · 17/09/2019 14:22

Two letters sent, two to go!

truthisarevolutionaryact · 17/09/2019 16:46

Letters sent.

Just wondering if anyone has done any FOIs re these guidelines to establish who was consulted, ask to see the equality impact assessments that will have been done etc??
