(At one point it says it is for Labour Party Conference delegates and later on it says it is a public meeting.)

A Woman’s Place is at Conference
Public Meeting in Brighton
Monday 23 September 2019 (Venue to be announced)
Doors open at 6:30pm, for 7.00pm start.

Woman's Place UK (WPUK) invites Labour Party Conference delegates to hear speakers discuss the WPUK Manifesto, focusing on women's issues. Half the tickets are available for FREE to Labour Party members.

Speaker biographies:
Dani Ahrens Founding member of Brighton Pride, a lifelong Labour activist, tweets as @rebelyarns
Onjali Rauf Founder and CEO of 'Making Herstory'
Kay Green "Socialist policy must always be based on reality." Kay Green is a socialist activist, supporting gender-critical voices on the political left.
Kiri Tunks Woman's Place UK founder (Chair)

Woman’s Place UK was founded in September 2017 to ensure women’s voices would be heard in the consultation on proposals to change the Gender Recognition Act. We had 5 demands and we didn’t expect the campaign to last more than 3-4 months.

Thanks to the support and actions of thousands of people all over the UK we had a big collective impact on the debate and, while we don’t expect to hear the results of the consultation yet, we know that the government has heard the voices of thousands of women.

At the same time, the debate has exposed the poor state of women’s rights in the UK. We have decided therefore to develop a broader campaign on the foundations we have built.

We will keep up the pressure on the government around the GRA and on councils and organisations to uphold equality law.

But there are other battles we need to fight too.

So we have made some New Year Resolutions to help us broaden the campaign in 2019:

Jeez. I've been holidaying on Style & Beauty and completely missed this.
I just wish I was still a party member so I could resign.
I'll be contacting my MP, even though he never replied lasting time.

Thanks to everyone who went and who put it on the record.

teawamutu · 25/09/2019 07:59

Chatty, great list. The one thing I question is linking it to police cuts when it's a deliberate decision to police women's rights, not protect them.

There were plenty of police officers there, they just chose not to do a fucking thing.

Three lesbians with a placard outside a TRA meeting and we'd all be crowdfunding for their legal fees. Fucking disgrace.

ChattyLion · 25/09/2019 08:11

Teawamutu I totally agree that it is a choice not act- and the complaints side of this would absolutely be to raise that point.

But I think for the future and sustaining change around this, when we know one of the first things to go in budget and resource cuts is staff training, I think this is such a fundamental problem of misogyny that proper resources will be needed to tackle it. I also think that resource constraints builds a fight fires kind of culture in institutions that justifies focusing on what’s important to the institution and ignoring what isn’t important to them.

ChattyLion · 25/09/2019 08:12

^ When I say ‘complaints’ I don’t mean just police complaints process but raising this with Ministers, MPs and Peers

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 25/09/2019 08:13

What’s this I saw about our bestest ‘womans’’officer getting re-elected or something? Twitter can be so enigmatic!

teawamutu · 25/09/2019 08:25

That's a fair point, Chatty - I wonder how much the police spend on Mermaids and Stonewall trainin?

ChattyLion · 25/09/2019 08:33

Teawamutu I absolutely dread to think.

RoyalCorgi · 25/09/2019 08:35

Interesting to see this from Susanna Rustin of the Guardian:

ChattyLion · 25/09/2019 08:50

Thank you Susanna. Needs more than supportive tweets though, as welcome as that is. Can you speak to your editor, raise it among your profession more broadly? This needs a very very thorough look through in the mainstream media.

SunsetBeetch · 25/09/2019 09:39

Labour seem to have missed out a couple of protected characteristics here. I bet you can guess one of them at least:

"Whatever your background, race, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, class or age - you have a voice. Register to vote today and make sure your voice is heard 👉 t.co/xxsKKbc7X1 t.co/OnyTahwqhh "

Gone2far · 25/09/2019 09:57

I saw that Corbyn, outlining Labour's new menopause-related policy, referred to people in the workforce who have the menopause. Not women. There really is no hope for them.

SunsetBeetch · 25/09/2019 13:19

Another video tweeted by Julie Bindel. Silly brats chanting "Shame on you!" with no irony whatsoever:

"Another vid from the misogynistic protest of @WomansPlaceUK event. It was easier getting out of the venue than it was getting in, especially for disabled attendees. Shame on those obstructing and harassing women attending a meeting about protecting their hard won rights!"

SunsetBeetch · 25/09/2019 13:29

Another new video. The mob that was aloud to bang on windows throughout the meeting are shouting "Police protect the transphobes".

"This is the video I did before I helped my disabled friend out. I wanted to do a reccy to show her to see if she felt brave enough to go past mob for direct 5 min route home . She didn’t. Note attempt to snatch phone from me." t.co/AJYsIT9No7

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 25/09/2019 13:34

Well, they were right huh?
Shame we can't see many faces.

SunsetBeetch · 25/09/2019 13:36

"One of the Labour Party conference events, sponsored by Momentum, the Communication Workers Union and the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation (Rosa was a critic of liberal feminism) featured a sex work 'variety show' hosted by the 2018 'Stripper of the Year' "

Defenestrator · 25/09/2019 13:42

I just find it heartbreaking that women are intimidating other women! I really was shocked to hear majority female voices when I watched the first video. What the ACTUAL fuck?

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 25/09/2019 13:43

"It's our turn to talk and your turn to listen, as Sex Workers and their allies take to the stage to entertain and thematically explore the ins and outs of their industry, the things they are fighting and the things they celebrate. Come and watch a Variety show charged with current sex worker politics hosted by stripper of the year 2018 and her friends."

Come for the naked ladies, stay for the chat...

SunsetBeetch · 25/09/2019 13:58

I don't think I saw this posted? From Stephanie Davies Arai:

"Talking about the @WomansPlaceUK meeting in #Brighton on Monday night and the inaction of @sussex_police, with Neil Pringle at @BBCSussex. Listen here from 1:40:00. #WPUKLab19 "https://t.co/2NkQlTeh1n

Sorry, messed up the link:

That video.
Flipping Red Guards.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 25/09/2019 14:26

“I supposed the Red Guards had enjoyed themselves. Is it not true that we all possess some destructive tendencies in our nature? The veneer of civilization is very thin. Underneath lurks the animal in each of us. If I were young and had had a working class background, if I had been brought up to worship Mao and taught to believe him infalliable, would I not have behaved exactly as the Red Guards had done?

Charlotte's speech contains the lie that the evil terfs threw water over the protestors.

"I was terrified but very proud for calling out transphobes at #Lab19 and stand in solidarity with my trans siblings ✊🌹🏳️‍🌈 t.co/BmTzMitWUI

Great speech Charlotte !
Here’s what I was able to video from the balcony

#transphobia kills
#transphobia is bigotry
#TransRightsAreHumanRights
No to #TERF fascists"
🌹✊🏼🌈

More videos and photos from Jane Claire Jones. Sorry to spam the thread, I just think it's important to show the extent of this, and Labour's involvement in it.

"This is one of the protestors trying to take pictures of the women attending the meeting. t.co/Q25agkQD8x "

"This is a video of the way we had to try and cover/barricade the windows at the entrance to stop them taking photos. t.co/FGwurVBOpc "

"The front of the protest by the entrance. This is what we had to walk through to get in. There was a narrow passage with protestors on both sides screaming at us. t.co/8rNvxnaXz0 "

"As we were walking through to get into the venue and they were shouting I got angry, and shouted back 'You are protesting a bunch of feminist women."

The response was they all started chanting "You're not real feminists, we are!" over and over."

"At this point I stopped and turned to the crowd, with my gf standing beside me, and just stared at them over the barrier, for several minutes, while they continued chanting "You're not real feminists" and "scum" at us."

"My adrenalin went through the roof.

But I just wanted to make them scream it into a human face, looking back at them, and to try and force them to confront, for a moment, that the people they have decided are the root of all evil are middle-aged, feminist, and lesbian women."

Where do they get off lying like that and do blatantly too! There is VIDEO evidence of their disgusting behaviour. Do these clowns live in such a bubble that they think no one is going to notice? FFS.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 25/09/2019 16:21

So nouveau feminists done even know what a woman is. Yup that’s about the level of education these days...
