(At one point it says it is for Labour Party Conference delegates and later on it says it is a public meeting.)

A Woman’s Place is at Conference
Public Meeting in Brighton
Monday 23 September 2019 (Venue to be announced)
Doors open at 6:30pm, for 7.00pm start.

Woman's Place UK (WPUK) invites Labour Party Conference delegates to hear speakers discuss the WPUK Manifesto, focusing on women's issues. Half the tickets are available for FREE to Labour Party members.

Speaker biographies:
Dani Ahrens Founding member of Brighton Pride, a lifelong Labour activist, tweets as @rebelyarns
Onjali Rauf Founder and CEO of 'Making Herstory'
Kay Green "Socialist policy must always be based on reality." Kay Green is a socialist activist, supporting gender-critical voices on the political left.
Kiri Tunks Woman's Place UK founder (Chair)

Woman’s Place UK was founded in September 2017 to ensure women’s voices would be heard in the consultation on proposals to change the Gender Recognition Act. We had 5 demands and we didn’t expect the campaign to last more than 3-4 months.

Thanks to the support and actions of thousands of people all over the UK we had a big collective impact on the debate and, while we don’t expect to hear the results of the consultation yet, we know that the government has heard the voices of thousands of women.

At the same time, the debate has exposed the poor state of women’s rights in the UK. We have decided therefore to develop a broader campaign on the foundations we have built.

We will keep up the pressure on the government around the GRA and on councils and organisations to uphold equality law.

But there are other battles we need to fight too.

So we have made some New Year Resolutions to help us broaden the campaign in 2019:

The response was they all started chanting "You're not real feminists, we are!" over and over."

No, I don't think so Grin

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 25/09/2019 16:34

I’d counter with ‘you cannae even spell it, we can, we can’

KatvonHostileExtremist · 25/09/2019 16:58

So have I got that right? The person who complained Madigan has been inappropriate towards her, was also the person leading the chanting at the WP meeting? Goldsmiths students eh?
I wonder if she feels the need to establish her woke credentials after being bad mouthed by Madigan?

As for the angry beard up on the podium of the conference slagging off a woman's place. The applause, I thought, was muted. Grown ups might decide they can think for themselves rather than be bullied by kiddie twats.

No one wants to "hang trans people out to die" or whatever hyperbole the beard was shrieking. We just want to discuss how we make sure women are safe too. Anyone who's been to a woman's place meeting can attest to this.

Oldstyle · 25/09/2019 17:28

Didn't sound muted to me Katvon - and the jeers for the man who suggested respectful discussion told their own story.
The grownups might be thinking for themselves but they are doing so in silence. I am so distressed by this. Don't think we should underplay what happened, either outside the WPUK meeting venue or in the conference hall.

SunsetBeetch · 25/09/2019 18:16

Let's face it: Labour are a lost cause.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 25/09/2019 18:17

They seem to be tanking the election. Is that it?

SunsetBeetch · 25/09/2019 18:21

On purpose, you mean?

Michelleoftheresistance · 25/09/2019 18:23

Interesting limits on woke enactment there. Personal boundaries, but a whole lot of hammering on other women's.

Michelleoftheresistance · 25/09/2019 18:24

(And yes cryptic as fuck but if I spoke in plain English I'd get deleted.)

So I'll make a left at Bakerloo and play a St Raphael's gold as demonstrated by Lady Barbara Fazakerly against the Bishop in 1612, meaning I believe that it's a London Bridge.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 25/09/2019 18:51

Yes on purpose. It’s the only explanation?

TheMostBeautifulDogInTheWorld · 25/09/2019 20:13

"there isn't a category for hate crime against women"

Indeed. I imagine that that is one of the points the letter is making.

TheMostBeautifulDogInTheWorld · 25/09/2019 20:21

(Sorry - hadn't realised I wasn't at the end of the thread and discussion had moved on)

Now one of the terrorists is sending women notes from their boner!
Criminy!

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 25/09/2019 23:31

They do realise that electronic communications can be traced don’t they? They won’t be Teflon for ever.

WomanBornNotWorn · 25/09/2019 23:37

I noticed the Women's Equality Party have not tweeted anything at all about the incidents at the meeting. Anyone seen anything from them?

Socrates11 · 25/09/2019 23:47

Phew that Fair Cop letter goes for the jugular SunsetBeetch. I would be interested to see the plod's response, especially to this bit,

"Fair Cop is deeply concerned by Sussex Police’s failure to act against an aggressive and intimidating mob who were targeting a protected group meeting to discuss their rights. We believe that any reasonable observer would view this as extremely partisan policing; furthermore, we suggest that the lack of intervention is the direct result of Sussex Police’s extremely close relationship with Stonewall, an organisation that has consistently demeaned and abused women for daring to meet and discuss their sex-based rights. At the very least, this gives the impression of a political interest aligned with the demonstrators at the WPUK event last night. At worst, it suggests collusion. Either way, it is a clear breach of Schedule 1 Restrictions"

I'm glad there has been a move to set up a LGB Alliance with people extremely disillusioned with the T capture of Stonewall. Very sad it is so necessary.

Big up to all the WPUK attendees, thank you for persevering in the face of all that intimidation Flowers

WomanBornNotWorn · 26/09/2019 00:07

This is interesting - there's a men's movement dedicated to supporting women's rights and here's a link to their next meeting. Kiri Tunks of WPUK is their guest speaker. This is a brilliant development. I'll do a separate thread starter post too.

There is a new report in the local paper which seems to somehow confuse the meeting as being the protest and saying the police are asking for incidents of possible hate crime Shock

And the group Queer AF that organised the protest have written on their facebook page about how the police didn't defend them from threatening "terfs".

They have also set up a petition asking Corbyn to condem WPUK as a hate group. www.change.org/p/jeremy-corbyn-mp-get-jeremy-corbyn-to-denounce-wpuk-as-a-transphobic-hate-group

They have also set up a petition asking Corbyn to condem WPUK as a hate group.

There is very strict criteria for a group to be considered a hate group. It can't just be an opinion that some people don't like.

It will be yet another own goal if the premise and meeting content of WPUK is forensically and publicly examined.

Honestly. There needs to be something similar to the Darwin Awards for this kind of self sabotage.

womanontheedgeoftime · 26/09/2019 01:12

This lot of TRAs aren't very bright I don't think.

Here's a comment from that petition from someone who I think is one of the young Queer AF supporters.

They can't even centre women (or acknowledge our existence!) when talking about sexism against women, specifically. WTF is this nonsense?!

Because trans woman are women, trans men are men, nonbinary people are valid and real and sexisim against women effects every one of us regardless of gender. Sexisim against women is why men feel they can't cry or express emotions other tha anger for fear of being seen as femenine, sexisim against women is why men are afraid to wear dresses or skirts even if they might be more comfortable, sexisim against women is why some straight men consider in demeaning for someone to be penertrated sexually but empowering to be the one penetrating, and sexisim against women effects trans women in many of the same ways it does cis women. Science backs up trans existence, philosophy backs us up, biology and neurology all these experts agree we are real and valid in our experiences of gender or lack there of, so why doesn't politics?

Defenestrator · 26/09/2019 02:00

What's "sexisim"? Sexy Sim? Grin

DancelikeEmmaGoldman · 26/09/2019 03:28

Ah yes, sexisim against women is the root cause of all social ills.

I believe this is the first rule of misogyny.

Women are responsible for what men do.

Also, I find the (lack of) sense and bizarre spelling in that paragraph literal violence against language and logic.

OrchidInTheSun · 26/09/2019 06:04

That woman Charlotte is not the woman who LM harassed. Well, she might have also been harassed but the woman who called out the behaviour publicly is called India.
