(At one point it says it is for Labour Party Conference delegates and later on it says it is a public meeting.)

A Woman’s Place is at Conference
Public Meeting in Brighton
Monday 23 September 2019 (Venue to be announced)
Doors open at 6:30pm, for 7.00pm start.

Woman's Place UK (WPUK) invites Labour Party Conference delegates to hear speakers discuss the WPUK Manifesto, focusing on women's issues. Half the tickets are available for FREE to Labour Party members.

Speaker biographies:
Dani Ahrens Founding member of Brighton Pride, a lifelong Labour activist, tweets as @rebelyarns
Onjali Rauf Founder and CEO of 'Making Herstory'
Kay Green "Socialist policy must always be based on reality." Kay Green is a socialist activist, supporting gender-critical voices on the political left.
Kiri Tunks Woman's Place UK founder (Chair)

Woman’s Place UK was founded in September 2017 to ensure women’s voices would be heard in the consultation on proposals to change the Gender Recognition Act. We had 5 demands and we didn’t expect the campaign to last more than 3-4 months.

Thanks to the support and actions of thousands of people all over the UK we had a big collective impact on the debate and, while we don’t expect to hear the results of the consultation yet, we know that the government has heard the voices of thousands of women.

At the same time, the debate has exposed the poor state of women’s rights in the UK. We have decided therefore to develop a broader campaign on the foundations we have built.

We will keep up the pressure on the government around the GRA and on councils and organisations to uphold equality law.

But there are other battles we need to fight too.

So we have made some New Year Resolutions to help us broaden the campaign in 2019:

Oh and is there footage of the police not doing their job?

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 23/09/2019 20:12

And do we think that protestors - should there be any - would be allowed here (counter demo)?

Fuckwits.

stumbledin · 23/09/2019 20:15

Hope everyone is safe - and I am sure the meeting will be worthwhile.

Seems like some Labour members who wouldn't normal bother to attend a WPUK meeting have attended and been shocked by behaviour of transactivists. (who forced a venue change?)

Follow the hashtag on twitter and ask the police why they aren't protecting women from meeting each other in safety. @sussex_police

Sounds absolute chaos there. Solidarity to those inside. I hope the police are more use when it comes time to leave. Can't believe the venue owners/management will be happy that the police stood back and watched what must have been breach of the police at a minimum and possibly criminal damage if the windows had given way. Absolutely disgraceful behaviour from the police and beyond shameful from the so called activists. Thugs would be a better label from the sound of it.

Unbelievable mob outside the
@WomansPlaceUK
meeting in Brighton tonight, banging and
pounding the windows, the din inside is deafening. Coming in we ran the gauntlet of hostile aggression, this is hate-filled public disorder and the police are not stopping it. #WPUKLab19

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 23/09/2019 20:20

Peace! Not police.

MacaroonMama · 23/09/2019 20:26

Good grief - have just looked at the Twitter stuff - it sounds scary. Hope you who are there are all ok, and that the police up their game and do a bit of actual policing when you leave...

WomanBornNotWorn · 23/09/2019 20:29

I'm actually frightened about what it's going to be like when we finish and leave. I'm not wearing my running shoes ...

NeurotrashWarrior · 23/09/2019 20:37

I found a police managed peaceful though noisy protest outside and then on the opposite side of the road extraordinarily scary, so huge respect and sympathies to those inside.

I'm retweeting the incidents to the police and also #Lab19. With safe space rants.

NeurotrashWarrior · 23/09/2019 20:38

Woman is there an alternative exit?

Ask staff at the venue.

StroppyWoman · 23/09/2019 20:42

Jeez. It never ends, does it

Yeahnahyeah · 23/09/2019 20:44

I hope someone gets excellent video footage of both the protesters and the police.

stumbledin · 23/09/2019 20:45

WomanBornNotWorn

It does sound really scary but dont forget you are not on your own. There are others there. Some will have experience of dealing with situations like this. ie making sure you dont leave on your own. and so on.

So many people are asking Sussex police via social media to start doing their job that they will not let anything happen to you. As they say the whole world is watching.

I know I am not there but if possible try and get the best out of the meeting.

Dont let the fuckers get you down!

Solidarity sisters Flowers

Oldstyle · 23/09/2019 20:56

Solidarity to all of you facing this misogynistic abuse. They have certainly shown their true colours. Aided and encouraged by politicians of all flavours, Stonewall, EHRC, Liberty, Amnesty, UN Women... and facilitated by the police.
I hope you are able to stay safe. I'm beyond horrified at what's happening.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 23/09/2019 20:57

Apparently you naughty lot were throwing buckets of waters over the poor wee folx who were minding their own business, having a perfectly peaceful protest.

If you were tut tut tut.

ArnoldWhatshisknickers · 23/09/2019 21:00

Jesus, just read about this elsewhere.

WTF is wrong with these clowns?

Hope everyone is safe.

youkiddingme · 23/09/2019 21:06

Oh goodness just dropped on this via another tweeter who retweeted it. Hope you are all ok. Lots of people are aware of this. xx

Somerville · 23/09/2019 21:17

Solidarity, sisters. Get home safely.

RufusthebewiIderedreindeer · 23/09/2019 21:17

Hope everyone there is ok woman Thanks

HermioneWeasley · 23/09/2019 21:18

Worried for the safety of everyone there

Sussex police are a fucking disgrace. This mob should have been broken up

WomanBornNotWorn · 23/09/2019 21:27

We're out. Police facilitated big groups out together to walk to station and town centre standing between us and them. I'm home. Hope everyone else safely arrived at destinations. More thoughts later. Vodka time!!!

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 23/09/2019 21:30

Very glad to hear it.

youkiddingme · 23/09/2019 21:30

If it's any consolation it's now trending in the UK on twitter. Stay safe women, the Uk is looking on. xx

RufusthebewiIderedreindeer · 23/09/2019 21:30

Glad you’re safe woman
