Apparently “gender neutral” means trousers aka the male default. This is utterly insane. I mean I wouldn’t have minded the choice of trousers or skirts for either sex but only trousers?

Let people wear what the hell they like FFS and then it isn't an issue

Oh but but but that is not good enough because men refuse to wear certain stuff so because they limit themselves throught their own choice and/or their inability to not be arseholes about exploring choices ,letting everyone wear what they want really means that men only have one choice and the girls have more and that's not fair...waaahhhh

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 07/09/2019 15:24

Depends what you mean by "unsuitable

I dont know what the poster meant, I doubt the poster does

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 07/09/2019 15:25

t could however be argued that the school did not provide enough notice so parents have been adversely financially affected by having to replace skirts with trousers

Yep,

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 07/09/2019 15:26

I wonder how many trans girls (for I assume since they were advised by stonewall those pesky trans boys would’ve be considered) there are at that school. Surely they would be wanting to ‘do a lily’ anyway and turn up to school in a skirt and boob tube anyway? Wearing boring old trousers isn’t exactly ‘doing female’ properly now is it?

Dingbats...

DecomposingComposers · 07/09/2019 15:28

So what you're saying is that if men and boys are allowed to wear skirts that the only people who will have a problem with it will be men and boys, right?

No women or girls will complain? Ok.

DecomposingComposers · 07/09/2019 15:30

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD

But that's because trousers are masculine clothing, apparently.

SarahTancredi · 07/09/2019 15:35

Again as you clearly didnt hear me. Men never have given a shit what women or girls feel. In fact entire policies are written with girls never even factored in as mens feelings are more important. So please tell me, why, even of a woman or girl complained it would extend any further than that girl being removed from the situation in favour of the boy or man doing wtf he liked?

That this is what would be listened to?

Inebriati · 07/09/2019 15:41

So many straw men on this thread it looks like a field of scarecrows.

DecomposingComposers · 07/09/2019 15:43

SarahTancredi

You categorically said that it's the fault of men and boys that they don't and won't wear skirts - no it isn't. It is the attitude of society as a whole, both males and females, who won't accept it.

DecomposingComposers · 07/09/2019 15:44

It's not the boy or man doing what they like though. It's what you and other posters like - your answer is men and boys to wear skirts and dresses. So literally it's men and boys doing what you want them to do.

SarahTancredi · 07/09/2019 15:46

And men can change that If they want to. But they cant be bothered.

And if they did well, then how would they play the victim card to keep women in their place?

Their agenda not ours. They dont want feminine men.

BertrandRussell · 07/09/2019 15:48

Has anyone suggested a choice of trousers, skirts or shorts for both sexes? Grin

DecomposingComposers · 07/09/2019 15:50

And men can change that If they want to. But they cant be bothered.

How can men change the attitude of women and the responses of women to them wearing skirts?

DecomposingComposers · 07/09/2019 15:51

I'm guessing that it's also up to women then to change the attitudes of society towards women is it?

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 07/09/2019 15:52

So they need to lawyer up then. Because that’s exactly what any boy who wants to wear a skirt to school would do.

SarahTancredi · 07/09/2019 15:53

Well women are busy as we speak , trying to get society to wake up to nonsense.

Managed to do it without killing people or threatening to hurt themselves too....

BertrandRussell · 07/09/2019 15:55

Women managed to change the attitude of society to them wearing trousers. By doing it. By putting up with the crap. Basically how women have achieved every advance in their position and status over the generations. Not by whinging about it not being fair that girls have three choices of clothing for their bottom halves and boys only have two.

DecomposingComposers · 07/09/2019 15:55

So they need to lawyer up then. Because that’s exactly what any boy who wants to wear a skirt to school would do.

Likewise a girl who wants to wear shorts then?

DecomposingComposers · 07/09/2019 15:57

But that is because women wanted to wear trousers, though not sure why when they are masculine, uncomfortable, cause thrush etc etc.

It's not men and boys asking to wear skirts, it's you saying they have to so why would they be fighting for it?

NellieEllie · 07/09/2019 16:02

I’m in two minds. I don’t like that it’s girls being told not to wear skirts. There hasn’t been a gradual phase in, as is usual with new uniform so that parents have to throw out perfectly good clothes and she’ll out for more.
But, I do think trousers are more practical. And it avoids the practice of rolling skirts up so they are much shorter than uniform codes allow. My daughter wears only trousers as they have a choice at her school. But other girls really prefer skirts. Skirts have been a girl’s default uniform for years, so a sudden change forcing girls to wear trousers that they may not feel comfortable in, or rarely wear out of choice, does seem unfair.
I’m suspicious of the reason too as the school are reported as saying they are doing it “because of the concerns of some trans children”. To make a change that is expensive for girls’ parents and unpopular with girls does seem unfair if it is just for the benefit of a tiny minority. (I can’t actually see how an enforced trousers only policy helps transing kids anyway)

toiletseat · 07/09/2019 16:13

The “well I think this is fine - trousers are more practical” posts make me want to tear my fucking hair out.

More practical for YOU. But if you were very short or very tall and/or very pear-shaped or had sensory issues you might well find the opposite to be the case. I don’t just dislike how trousers look on me - they almost never sit properly on my body. If I had to wear a specific style of trouser I would be fucked, because there is almost no chance that they would fit. They are thus impractical for me.

MargueritaBlue · 07/09/2019 16:14

So what are these oppressed men and boys for whom you have so much concern actually asking for?

BertrandRussell · 07/09/2019 16:20

“So what are these oppressed men and boys for whom you have so much concern actually asking for?”

The exact same number of choices as girls. Because otherwise it’s not fair But anyway, DecomposingComposers is obviously on a wind up. So back to Brexit I go.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 07/09/2019 16:23

I seem to remember a few years ago a girl taking her school to the European court of human rights because she wanted to wear trousers to school (of course she was a budding lawyer). Weird huh.

DecomposingComposers · 07/09/2019 16:26

To wear something better suited to the summer than long trousers, shirt, tie and formal shoes?
