Google is the boot on the neck

The fact that it has rattled cages, google and others trying to nip it in the bud shows how needed this platform is. And it is great to feel there is somewhere where one can talk freely.

I need to invest some time and try harder, as there are too many places to go, and I want to read some books. But Spinster needs supporting to get it off the ground. I can't say I've got to grips with it yet, I've found a few favourites there, but I have a new name so I'm conscious no one knows me, and this account here is relatively new as I deleted my old one when golf playing idiots where busy doing their best to dox people and there was a security leak, I realised that the obsolete email I had used was still identifiable. So it all feels like back to square one. Anyway, that's fine.

Thanks for that, Inebriati. It really shows it up for exactly what it is. Rancid, horrible, deliberate, pre-meditated, thought-out misogyny. These men really did read the Handmaid's Tale and think it was an instruction manual.

Yeah there's a real problem with with tech giants having all this power, then making warped decisions. It often feels like they are above the law. I have seen some horrendous things on instagram, twitter and facebook but often when I report them they say they 'don't violate their guidelines' yet we're not even allowed to state biological facts. The problem is the people who run them and their guidelines, which seem heavily weighted towards the rights of penises and heavily weighted against the rights of women and girls.

But aren’t they really just their own law. And they have the money and the tech might to back them up.

We don’t even know what we don’t know. Google etc control what search engines return, and what sites / info to ban, large companies run SEO (search engine optimisation), China stops its citizens leaving (using the Social Credit System so people can’t buy plane or train tickets), Saudi tracks its women, etc etc etc.

It’s all spin.

Though people will have to message me for my spinster username. I slightly regret not just sticking with my Twitter name but I don't think your allowed to change username once you've set up over there?
Maybe I will change it to my Twitter if I can.

I was going to join, and I truly wish them and all those supporting them all the best, but I do find the thing about Gab being a vehicle for certain alt-right platforms worrying. Those extremist groups and ideologies fill me with horror and loathing even aside from the fact I can’t risk having my social media usage associated with them in even the most peripheral manner; it’s a tiny possibility but a possibility nonetheless that I could lose my job and even my residency status.

I shall miss the voices of those who are leaving us, Jessica and Floral and hope some here will occasionally bring back their words from there.

I've been on Spinster loads and I hadn't noticed Yaniv despite 'her'* many posts. It seems people are completely ignoring 'her'.

Spinster won't load for me- I think my iPad is just too old. I've joined, but I'll miss out until I can update my tech!

I use Twitter a lot, so at least that side of it is familiar. I need to spend a bit of time navigating spinster to get the hang of it though. There seem to be a lot of americans on there ? For some reason I thought it would be mainly Brits.

One of the worst things about Twitter.. is the pedophilia-apologia that is tolerated, if not protected. Is Spinster free of that? And of threats of violence against women?

The factions bleating on about right wing conspiracies are the same ones who seem happier sharing space with “maps” and VAW than with feminists.

Bitoffun I had the same problem with safari on my aging laptop on which I can no longer update the OS. It works fine using a different web browser such as Chrome if that's worth a try?
