This idea of actually changing what you are through technology, I've seen it in a few places recently, and several of them were about diet. So these were people who were not only supporting the idea that we can bridge male and female in biology, which is somehow wrong, but they were making a parallel argument about veganism, that we can know that they way our digestive systems etc are made is morally wrong so we can use tech, and even things like selection and genetic modification to make it so we don't need any animal products, and then our bodies will be "right".

It was kind of disturbing but also really interesting.

Not sure being GC is a way to gain fame - more likely to cause harm than good. Jack has been an ally for some time and is genuinely gender critical. Great to see so many others saying why they are too.

Goose that sounds like a bizarre version of transhumanism.

Goosefoot · 12/08/2019 20:33

Yes, it is for sure. I haven't seen it explicitly related to veganism in the past but I have seen people say that because we can know better about the ethics of being omnivores, we can do better and make it work by special designed diets - which is a kind of tech.

The idea with transhumanism is that somehow, we can know what would make us better (what does that mean?) humans, and then make that happen through technology. There is an implied criticism of our natural bodies in that, be it the way they see, or exist in space, or are sexed, or what they need to eat.
