Jonny Best to be investigated for transphobia by Uni of Huddersfield

Some kind soul at University of Huddersfield has initiated a formal complaint against me for contravening the uni's social media and trans equality policies with my 'transphobia'. Here is the info passed to me today - note the attempt to smear me with mention of 'victimisation'.

It's interesting that this was taken to the Office of the Independent Adjudicator. This would have been an option available to Jonny as he is a student, but university staff who face this kind of thing don't have recourse to this.

Excellent spot. And very concerning and sobering in its restrictions. @JonnyBest was in a common position as both a tutor and a post-grad student - utterly bizarre that had he just been staff this might well have made this reasonable outcome impossible.

Jonny vindicated finally but only awarded a derisory 800 quid.

Glad he got his apology, and hope things are good for him now.

If Huddersfield don’t do the right thing then hopefully Universities UK, their umbrella group, will comment on this. Universities are cash strapped enough without having to waste admin time on complete nonsense.

Glad of the outcome but it's appalling it happened in the first place.

Great news. Yet another exposure of the extreme levels of intolerance and silencing that's happening. So pleased that they've been fined.

Uni of Huddersfield’s statement was “sorry not sorry”, the craven asshats.

And the student who complained had been a friend, according to Mr Best's account on Twitter. Appalling. I can't imagine the mental exhaustion from this process.
