Jonny Best to be investigated for transphobia by Uni of Huddersfield

ArranUpsideDown · 02/08/2019 20:55

Some kind soul at University of Huddersfield has initiated a formal complaint against me for contravening the uni's social media and trans equality policies with my 'transphobia'. Here is the info passed to me today - note the attempt to smear me with mention of 'victimisation'.
...
But the worst crime I'm accused of is 'associating positively' with Glinner
Let me be clear: I will 'associate positively' with Graham for as long as he wishes to 'associate positively' with me.

So will Stonewall allow a gay man to be hung out to dry for an anonymous trans person by proxy? If the university fire JB they will have to pick a side.

NotBadConsidering · 03/08/2019 01:11

In every one of those examples put forward by the complainant, Jonny says “ideology” but the complainant changes it to “people”. Remarkable that someone who has reached university-level education doesn’t know the difference.

Or they do, and it’s deliberate misrepresentation....

Hopefully sense will prevail, but who knows in this day and age?

7Days · 03/08/2019 01:22

Goody Johnny atwittering with....
Hilarious Grin

Redshoeblueshoe · 03/08/2019 01:27

JB is a fucking legend 🍷 Grin

MagneticSingularity · 03/08/2019 02:42

But..but whoa whoa whoaaaa Neddy! Johnny is doing this grovelling apology self-flagellation thing all wrong surely?
He’s supposed to be backpedalling furiously whilst simultaneously shunning the devil Glinner and all his works and promising to sin no more.
Digging his heels in and fighting back? Standing up to the bullies? I think a million rainbowxcoloured kittens just died. Grin

Come on Johnny, get with the program, you know resistance is futile.

SophoclesTheFox · 03/08/2019 07:16

Are you now, or have you ever been a T*RF, Jonny?

We are what we always were in Salem, but now the little crazy children are jangling the keys of the kingdom, and common vengeance writes the law

ArnoldWhatshisknickers · 03/08/2019 07:54

Christ this is pathetic.

People that can't handle others not sharing their unsubstantiated beliefs do not belong in universities.

Jonathan Best is unfailingly thoughtful and polite, which is more than I'm capable being on this issue anymore and I have no profile to make me a target.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 03/08/2019 08:07

Dear University of Huddersfield, please stop wasting your money on advertising, giving my teenage children free pens etc. When you wreck your public image by ridiculous nonsense like this nobody with half a brain is going to take you seriously as a university.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 03/08/2019 08:13

Ludicrous. When I was a student the appropriate response to "I could not go through much more without harming my own mental health..." would have been, at best, a suggestion to seek urgent medical help. How do these people function in the world?

I see from Twitter this morning that GL has steam coming out of his ears in response to this.

They may have overreached here. GL may have grounds for a libel suit, I'd have thought.

NeurotrashWarrior · 03/08/2019 08:15

Wow, complete madness.

He's not saying anything that many people, including students, aren't saying about the dangerous nature of 'identity politics.' When reality spills into fantasy.

And he's also saying what many transsexual people have begun to say.

This student needs to get out more.

NotBadConsidering · 03/08/2019 08:15

Huddersfield, West Yorkshire. And Mimmymum is tweeting about it. How interesting.

NeurotrashWarrior · 03/08/2019 08:16

Pascoe commenting - how on earth has Jonny abuses anyone?!

NotBadConsidering · 03/08/2019 08:17

I don’t see how it has to be a student who complained. Could be anyone.

SonicVersusGynaephobia · 03/08/2019 08:22

Poor JB, it can't be nice having this hang over you.

I am going to trust Huddersfield to do the Right Thing.

The wheels are coming off this movement. The issue in universities regarding freedom of thought etc has been raised, they have enough support and backup to reject this.

nauticant · 03/08/2019 08:34

Looking at the crowing over this on twitter I'm struck yet again by how accusations of transphobia and abuse get thrown about but no one ever seems to want to point to a particular comment, let alone to explain why it's supposed to be transphobic and abusive.

The accusation is made and then it's a sign of more guilt for anyone to asks questions. We've seen this before.

radistomp · 03/08/2019 08:50

I know what you mean that the university should respect your right to freedom of speech and you should be immune to repercussions arising as a result of your freedom of speech!

I know what you mean that the university is crazy for listening to these fee paying people making complaints and upholding their own policy as it is your right to call a spade a spade and hard luck if they don’t like it.

Alicethroughtheblackmirror · 03/08/2019 09:02

Love Johnny, he's kind and insightful.

This letter reads like something McCarthy would have been proud of "are you now or have you ever associated with Glinner or retweeted him?"

As for the "mental health" comment 🙄
Some of these children really think that if they aren't bring indulged and pandered to the entire time, their resulting narcissistic tantrums are evidence of their fragility and need for further indulgence.

thatdamnedwoman · 03/08/2019 09:10

How very odd that they go to such lengths to document their claims but they don't quote Jonny accurately.

The association remark is chilling. It's as if they've never heard of 1984 or Herbert Hoover or 'Are you now or have you ever been...' And they think they're the liberal, open-minded ones.

SunsetBeetch · 03/08/2019 09:54

Mimmymum from Mermaids, whose "trabsphobia" case against Miranda Yardley was thrown out, weighs in. Strangely she mentions Tommy Robinson rather than Miranda...

ZebrasAreBras · 03/08/2019 09:59

Ah yes, Mimmymum who dragged a transsexual through a 10 month court process, and who was then utterly humiliated in court.

Let us never forget the mimmymum court calamity.

NotBadConsidering · 03/08/2019 10:04

Waves to Mimmymum! Are you living vicariously through this complainant Helen? Hoping they succeed where you failed, so utterly and miserably?

ZebrasAreBras · 03/08/2019 10:05

"Aaaaand as if by magic, here mimmymum is, playing the "transphobia" and "harassment" card.

Didn't Mimmymum teach people anything? You can't just drag transsexuals into court claiming "transphobia" and "harrassment" when you want - you will have the case thrown out out of court, be denied the anonymity you asked for, and the cps will be ordered to pay to pay costs. You will also look very foolish and have to lock your twitter account for months until you hope everyone's forgotten about it."

Fixed mimmymum's tweet for her.

nicenewdusters · 03/08/2019 10:33

Oh the horror !!! To be living in the West, at a university, in the most lawful, prosperous and healthiest period of history, and to be so victimised! That not everyone agrees with you about what you think. Oh the danger to your mental health.

Maybe you need to go to an institution where you can mix with a wide range of people, air your views, listen to others, read great books, learn some history, expand your mind. Oh hang on.......

Wipe the floor with them JB.

AlwaysTawnyOwl · 03/08/2019 10:35

Jonny if you’re reading this - we are all with you. Flowers

ArranUpsideDown · 03/08/2019 11:40

I don’t see how it has to be a student who complained. Could be anyone.

In the screenshot of the email JB received and reproduced on the Twitter thread it says:

I'm contacting you on behalf of a student who wishes to remain anonymous due to fear of victimisation, but who came to me to report repeated transphobic behaviour from a music PhD student and music tutor, Johnathan Best.
