Yes why are they not on here or on the JY thread defending these ppl

I know! And many of us were so kind to point out JYs thread on the Women Don’t Have Penises thread and I even linked this thread in the Peak Trans thread to make it easy to find! Yet...crickets..

These sports photos always show up so so clearly precisely what the issue is don't they. A picture is worth a thousand words indeed.

Oh TRAs where are you now?

There are no words to say how appalling this is.

No, but it is important we still try.

What I wanted to say would have got me banned so best to wait until I'm less angry.

It’s disgusting to celebrate men that are so nasty, they know they wouldn’t stand a chance in a male competition so they have found a way to be good at something. They can’t see how pathetic they look because they are too busy getting hard over the fact they are stronger than a woman.. if they weren’t doing this competition they would be in their bedroom snacking on Doritos and complaining about how women don’t date nice guys.

What really got me about those photos is that they were posted at all
I suppose it really sums up the whole problem

Those images were put out as triumphant 'earnthefern' successes
And nobody saw what was wrong with them
They didnt really see the women in the photo who have been cheated out of their medals by LH
they dont seem to have looked at their body language, hunched shoulders, unhappy faces, backs turned (The bowed heads reminds me of other athlete protest photos)

The perspectives of the women, (even the fact that the woman might be entitled to have a perspective on LHs astonishing late life, second chance Olympic career) were not seen or appreciated at all in the rush to virtue signal, validate a privelaged white middle aged millionares child and of course potentially fairly easily win some medals-

note also that NZ sport has removed them from their twitter feed now

"She had demonstrated considerable courage and resilience in transitioning and in deciding to compete at an international level as a woman

Oh fuck the fuck off. I am utterly disgusted by this. I'm also very, very tempted to post on faecesbook to weed out any handmaidens still there.

Here's an interesting NZ sports story

www.stuff.co.nz/sport/league/114022308/young-budding-rugby-league-player-cant-play-because-shes-a-girl

If she identified as a trans boy, would she be allowed to play? If a young boy identified as a trans girl, would she then be allowed to play in the girls' team even though the President of the NZ Rugby League board does not think that " it would be wise for youth actually playing mixed genders in rugby league"

Quite a conundrum…..

Here's another interesting story:

www.stuff.co.nz/national/114218682/victims-of-laurel-hubbard-crash-appalled-at-sentence-and-suppression

Hubbard's conviction for careless driving and the apparent lack of remorse reminds me of something similar with Caitlyn Jenner.

It’s particularly annoying because Samoa have much less money than NZ so comparing the kind of resources and support it’s even more frustrating the silver medalist didn’t get her well deserved gold medal.

I just went back on to Twitter to read more comments and it looks like the Tweet has been deleted. Cowards.

That young girl shouldn't be allowed to pay rugby with boys. That's just the way it is. Even if the boys on both teams try and hold back (which will be frustrating for them), there is a good chance she is going to get badly injured.

Clearly this weightlifter shouldn't be allowed to compete against women. Although this whole debate was in part started because of female athletes with intersex characteristics, such as Caster Semenya. That is a trickier issue.

Just a bit of background to this.

Laurel Hubbard's father is a rich man.

Hubbard was Executive Officer for Olympic Weightlifting New Zealand until 2016 when the position was abolished.

Hubbard then immediately funded a new state-of-the-art weightlifting facility to host and sponsor the OWNZ competition itself. Hubbard decided to enter the women's category.

I'll bet the women didn't get their daddy to buy them a weightlifting facility and sponsor the national body for their sport.

Is stuff being deleted? Loads of the links posted don't work

Report
Doyoumind · 13/07/2019 23:21

As I said, I believe the original tweet has been deleted by NZ Olympics.

Report
Popchyk · 13/07/2019 23:30

They NZ Olympics first tweet about Hubbard was getting slaughtered in the comments. Hundreds of comments saying how unfair it was.

So they tweeted a different picture instead, taken from another angle. Clearly hoping that the first thread would go away.

They got slaughtered again on the new thread.

So they deleted both tweets.

Report
Doyoumind · 13/07/2019 23:33

Yes, I don't think there was a single supportive comment but it says a lot they got rid of the whole lot and haven't made any comment, as far as I can see.

WhereYouLeftIt · 13/07/2019 23:49

I'd like to think that the response to NZ Olympics would give them pause for thought - but I expect it's just that they wanted all those responses "scattered" rather than "threaded" to them. Cowards.

For any newcomers to this thread.

If the thread feels all too much TLDR:

You are reading about a male, who competed as a male in weightlifting competitions until his mid-30s.

Then declared he was a woman.

And started to compete in the women's category of weightlifting.

And is now beating women more than half his age in the women's category.

Beating the women who've trained for years and whose entry into the 2020 Olympic qualifying depends on their placing on the podium

And some would say he was brave and stunning for doing so.

Question a) What do you think about this?

Question b) Have you wondered where some of the regular posters in this area are? They're very keen to tell other women who should be able to change where, what pronouns should be used, what language we should all be using on this board. But strangely silent on this subject, as others have pointed out upthread. Ask yourself why.

"Then declared he was a woman."

Wait, wait. No hormones. No surgery. He's just declared himself a woman and he's allowed to complete?

I came onto this thread to read the TRA justification - I'm very disappointed.

Report
Scott72 · 14/07/2019 04:17

When I looked it up I see he has undergone some hormone therapy. But still its ridiculous he's been allowed to compete.

I’ve been seeing a lot of people talking about how MN is bigoted and against TG, but they fail to see that THIS is what we are speaking out about. They talk about woman not losing rights, and why does it matter, but how do they explain this! You want to be TG, great, knock yourself out, but stop railroading over woman, their spaces and their accomplishments. The powers that be in all areas of life (sport, medicine, workplaces ...) need to have a hard think about how to protect our rights while giving TG people appropriate rights as well.

So they've deleted the tweets to get rid of the negative comments? Not sure how it's worked as I can't see the tweets in the stream but I've still got one although all the comments have gone. So here is ss. For the record.

It’s a disgrace to the fern!

The rugby playing girl: she should be considered based on her weight and skill. She comes from a rugby family and has been playing since she was 4.
