When I say “peak trans” (which actually I don’t do very often because I want to avoid the exact conversations on this thread), I mean “peak trans activism”, not “peak trans people”. It means the moment of realisation that the ideology is demanding not just that you say certain things, not just that you do certain things, but that you must force yourself to believe certain things. An Orwellian moment of clarity if you like.
Here’s a thought for those who find it offensive. What happens if when you see “peak trans”, you take it to mean “peak trans activism”, as people have explained above. Does it change anything? Rather than picking at the terminology, do you actually understand what people are trying to express by it, and can you bring yourself to listen to what they’re saying?
I think the answer is no, because the real driver is tone policing, and preventing conversation by carping about terminology, rather than seeking to understand, but please do prove me wrong if you think I am...
