This thread on AIBU has been joined by some aggressive TRAs who are doing sterling work peak transing the more delicate areas of mumsnet.

I don't give a shit about the differences between trans women and women, no.

Thank goodness you don’t work in healthcare!

DtPeabodysLoosePants · 13/07/2019 10:40

I personally have zero interest in changing your mind, petrol. You have already told me that you are a raging misogynist who doesn't give a shit.

Well, quite. Interesting isn't it how someone who doesn't give a shit and has told us that clearly several times, is on another thread to tell the same posters the same thing.

JackyHolyoake · 13/07/2019 10:40

I don't think it is working. I think the ideologies on MN are reaching a level of fervour that very few people can be bothered to engage with any longer. For me personally, it's reached a level where I've become concerned about the wellbeing of the participants.

Then why are you still here? You can make the choice to leave.

And please don't expend any energy being concerned about our wellbeing. We are fine, thanks.

Datun · 13/07/2019 10:40

Your tendency towards hysterical hyperbole.

🤣

PetrolBastard · 13/07/2019 10:41

How do you know whether I work in healthcare or not?

RosesAndRaindrops · 13/07/2019 10:42

Careful, don't use the word hysterical, you'll be told your slip is showing you man or something (even though the "other" side used the word hysterical in the linked OP) that's OK if someone GC says it apparently, go figure

FamilyOfAliens · 13/07/2019 10:42

How do you know whether I work in healthcare or not?

I don’t. I’m just hoping you don’t, for obvious reasons.

DtPeabodysLoosePants · 13/07/2019 10:42

*I don't give a shit about the differences between trans women and women, no.

PetrolBastard* but didn't you say they should all be treated the same and that TWAW so why are you now talking about differences?

PetrolBastard · 13/07/2019 10:43

I'm still here because I'm one of the few people who can read pages and pages of abuse towards me and not be offended. I think most people get attacked by your group and simply avoid you thereafter.

Imnobody4 · 13/07/2019 10:43

Is it just me who doesn't swallow everything blindly? oh Roses the irony.
Everyone who uses 'peak trans' is signalling they have ceased to do that. They have researched, wrestled with their conscience, given up the cosy places they felt they belonged like the left. You however seem to have done no questioning and seem oblivious to what is happening to freedom of speech and thought in this country.
Peak trans is when you finally see the horse that you thought was just a friendly creature is actually a Trojan horse. So I'll keep with peak trans whether you like it or not.

PetrolBastard · 13/07/2019 10:44

And what obvious reasons are those? You've got some great insult for me, I presume?

DtPeabodysLoosePants · 13/07/2019 10:44

What abuse? If there's been abuse then please report every post and it will be dealt with.

Datun · 13/07/2019 10:45

Petrol, you might wonder why no one bothers to respond to your claim that you are worried for their well-being. It's because only you appear to think it an insult.

RosesAndRaindrops · 13/07/2019 10:45

I'm still here because I'm one of the few people who can read pages and pages of abuse towards me and not be offended. I think most people get attacked by your group and simply avoid you thereafter.

Absolutely this, and same that's why I'm still here as I'm too thick skinned and stubborn to leave and feel hounded off lol

PetrolBastard · 13/07/2019 10:45

Ah, the wide eyed innocence. Please.

OldCrone · 13/07/2019 10:46

But you're not winning hearts and minds by poking people and calling them stupid.

I don't know if that's aimed at me, but in the time that Roses had posted half a dozen times 'cite your sources', I had googled and found the links, so all I was doing was saying that that was what they could have done. I didn't call Roses 'stupid'.

I do still find it astonishing that people who are so opinionated on this seem to have no idea what is really going on. I'm not saying anyone is stupid, but some people on this thread really don't seem very well informed. I recommend a read of the 'break it down for me' thread.

JackyHolyoake · 13/07/2019 10:46

You equate disagreement with abuse ? Really?

What you read here are pages of comments between mostly women, some of whom agree with and expand upon an original comment made and some of whom disagree and a [usually] fairly robust discussion can ensue.

We rather like our robust discussions, don't we, sisters?

Wizbetisanizbet · 13/07/2019 10:47

Roses and Petrol. We know you would love for women to stop talking about issues that affect us. You have both used typical TRA tactics of trying to guilt people into silence. It's not going to work.

PetrolBastard · 13/07/2019 10:47

Being worried about some posters wellbeing is not an insult. The levels of paranoia are genuinely concerned to me. When you have posters accusing you of being computer generated, for example, it does make me very worried about their wellbeing.

GirlDownUnder · 13/07/2019 10:47

Sorry, but you're just reeling off numbers now. 76 kids in one school, another 10 in one year?
What schools? Thousands How do you know it's "thousands?" Have you counted them all in or something? Confused

So, you've read the links to the numbers posted Roses, any comment?

Earlywalker · 13/07/2019 10:49

You equate disagreement with abuse ? Really? the irony is killing me today Grin

PetrolBastard · 13/07/2019 10:49

Robust discussion is another way of saying rude, as you know.

Datun · 13/07/2019 10:49

When you have posters accusing you of being computer generated, for example, it does make me very worried about their wellbeing.

But not the well-being of the women Karen White sexually assaulted, evidently.

Never mind, you keep worrying about us...

SophoclesTheFox · 13/07/2019 10:50

When I say “peak trans” (which actually I don’t do very often because I want to avoid the exact conversations on this thread), I mean “peak trans activism”, not “peak trans people”. It means the moment of realisation that the ideology is demanding not just that you say certain things, not just that you do certain things, but that you must force yourself to believe certain things. An Orwellian moment of clarity if you like.

Here’s a thought for those who find it offensive. What happens if when you see “peak trans”, you take it to mean “peak trans activism”, as people have explained above. Does it change anything? Rather than picking at the terminology, do you actually understand what people are trying to express by it, and can you bring yourself to listen to what they’re saying?

I think the answer is no, because the real driver is tone policing, and preventing conversation by carping about terminology, rather than seeking to understand, but please do prove me wrong if you think I am...

Datun · 13/07/2019 10:51

Robust discussion is rudeness, disagreement is abuse.

It's all literal violence, I tell you!
