No I'm not

Google can be your friend. If you choose to use it

I know, and I use google a lot. I've never pretended to be too busy, I just said where are your figures from.

RosesAndRaindrops Sat 13-Jul-19 13:49:16

All I said was can you cite your source, I don't know myself why such a big deal is being made out of it confused

RosesAndRaindrops Sat 13-Jul-19 13:18:00

My question was: why would it matter to you if they were plucked out of thin air?

Seriously? Of course it matters if numbers are plucked out of thin air as they could easily be made up with nothing to back it up with.

RosesAndRaindrops Sat 13-Jul-19 12:52:14

I don't want "proof" - I just said if you're going to state statistics as facts but not where you got them from, it comes across as plucking them out of thin air.
Others have agreed with me on the thread, about citing sources

========

No I'm not

Of course you are not.

JackyHolyoake · 13/07/2019 15:10

1 in 50 biologically male prisoners are claiming transgender status. [ie 2% of male prison population] is what the research says as reported in the article.

This is not the same as 1 in 50 transwomen which is what Roses says above.

The male prison population is c 83000. 2% = 1660.

Outside of prison it is estimated that the population of males claiming transgender status is 0.5%.

Thus the male population claiming transgender status in prison is 4 times higher than the population outside.

It is suggested that "jumping on the bandwagon" is the reason for such a differential in populations.

RosesAndRaindrops · 13/07/2019 15:12

What has that great big copy and paste got to do with what I said though?
I have acknowledged that others have given me links.
I was referring to Datun who refused repeatedly to back up all the statistics and numbers thrown out and just expected people to believe and take everything as gospel.

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 13/07/2019 15:14

RosesAndRaindrops
I have a feeling you are arguing against people who actually share your opinion, but you have let your pre-judged notion of what we talk about blind you to that.

You want segregated prisons?

So do most people here.

You agree sex can't be changed

So do most people here

you seem to agree gender dysphoria is an illness and should have actual medical intervention

So do most people here.

People should be respected however they dress
Most people would agree with you.

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 13/07/2019 15:14

I was referring to Datun who refused repeatedly to back up all the statistics and numbers thrown out and just expected people to believe and take everything as gospel.

Other people have given you the Sources of the numbers Datun stated.

JackyHolyoake · 13/07/2019 15:14

Welcome aboard Lifepanic1234.

Most of us end up at this point of Peak Trans eventually and there is no returning from it.

RosesAndRaindrops · 13/07/2019 15:16

you seem to agree gender dysphoria is an illness and should have actual medical intervention

I've never said being trans is an illness or gender dysphoria at all, you're putting words in my mouth there.

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 13/07/2019 15:18

I've never said being trans is an illness or gender dysphoria at all, you're putting words in my mouth there.

Right, what is it then?

Because a lot of Trans people are pissed off their mental health treatment has been fucked by people who don't see it as such.

RosesAndRaindrops · 13/07/2019 15:19

Other people have given you the Sources of the numbers Datun stated

Yes I know, that's what I said!
Datun never did, and wouldn't either even when asked. Other people only did after a load of "God, can't you google yourself" type snippy responses.

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 13/07/2019 15:20

So you know sources have been provided?

But you are STILL even now talking about how the statistics weren't given.

JackyHolyoake · 13/07/2019 15:20

If you're not already, read outside of MN too.

I am surprised that you can say this. Roses, given that the sources supplied to you have come from a variety of sources away from Mumsnet. This means that we do research, study and read from many different sources elsewhere.

We enhance the convenience for fellow Mumsnet users by providing links to all those sources in relevant threads.

I have a particular penchant for posting links to relevant law o that more and more women can know their legal rights and understand fully how the Trans Lobby has misrepresented our law to all of our public institutions.

RosesAndRaindrops · 13/07/2019 15:22

So you know sources have been provided? But you are STILL even now talking about how the statistics weren't given.

Are we reading the same thread, I can't say it any clearer?
By.
Datun.

MIdgebabe · 13/07/2019 15:24

THERe are some useful threads probably not that far back that collect together most of the sources, so busy women don’t need to waste their time digging the references out repeatedly. Although many are not hard to google, we kind of assume that you are all competent and no more busy than the rest of us, and that if you demonstrate wish to be spoon fed then you may not be operating in good faith

And you still have a option to provide your own sources to disprove anything people say here.

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 13/07/2019 15:24

Are we reading the same thread, I can't say it any clearer?
By.
Datun

It doesn't matter if the sources are given by Datun or by anyone else, the numbers will be the same.

RosesAndRaindrops · 13/07/2019 15:25

I am surprised that you can say this. Roses, given that the sources supplied to you have come from a variety of sources away from Mumsnet. This means that we do research, study and read from many different sources elsewhere

That's not what I mean, I know the links come from different sources.
I meant read links from someone from the opposite viewpoint, so to speak.
Not just of one voice like it is on this forum.
Read from all viewpoints to form your own opinion.

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 13/07/2019 15:26

To go back to my first post on this thread:

======
"You're all horrible!"

Okay.

"Just admit you are all horrible"

You have the right to that opinion

"Horrible"

Okay.

....Short version of the thread, for those who don't want to read it...

Replace horrible with Datun didn't provide the statistics.

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 13/07/2019 15:27

I meant read links from someone from the opposite viewpoint, so to speak.

You are welcome to provide some?

RosesAndRaindrops · 13/07/2019 15:27

Short version of the thread, for those who don't want to read it...

You're re-writing it. People can read exactly what's on the thread with their own eyes and make their own mind up.

JackyHolyoake · 13/07/2019 15:27

Datun never did, and wouldn't either even when asked. Other people only did after a load of "God, can't you google yourself" type snippy responses.

The question is, Roses, why could you not use Google yourself.

It is easy to type into the search bar: "76 children in school are transgender" or "transgender prisoners".

It is what most of us do if we see such information, so that we can verify it for ourselves. We rarely demand that another does all the work for us. That is a difference between you and us, perhaps?

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 13/07/2019 15:28

You're re-writing it. People can read exactly what's on the thread with their own eyes and make their own mind up.

Yes they certainly can.

RosesAndRaindrops · 13/07/2019 15:30

The question is, Roses, why could you not use Google yourself

I can, and frequently do.
Since when has it been the norm to state figures and statistics as fact though without any background cited?
Look at any article, if they're quoting figures they usually back up what they're claiming.

MIdgebabe · 13/07/2019 15:30

Oh i read links from opposite viewpoint also. And mostly what I read is that someone has completely misunderstood a scientific paper or has failed basic arithmetic or logic

I also self analyse. Do you do that?

RosesAndRaindrops · 13/07/2019 15:30

Yes they certainly can

All good then.

JackyHolyoake · 13/07/2019 15:31

People can read exactly what's on the thread with their own eyes and make their own mind up.

Be assured they do read and decide for themselves.

This is the purpose of allowing our sisters to Peak Trans in their own time. One by one they arrive.

GirlDownUnder · 13/07/2019 15:31

Hey Lifepanic1234 Brew

This thread is a bit mad, but hope you stick around and read other threads too.
