JY’s parent sounds like an absolute loon. It would explain a lot.

Never has the phrase 'hoisted by their own petard seemed so apt or so sweet... Ricky Gervais is gonna have a fucking field day with this... I hope! Grin

Destinysdaughter · 20/07/2019 21:18

I hope Meghan Murphy in Canada is laughing her head off about how it's all rapidly spiralling out of control for JY right now!

FannyCann · 20/07/2019 21:23

And yet there are quite a few idiots out there on twitter sticking up for the principle.

There couldn’t be a better case than this to reveal the utter bankruptcy of the i.d-politics of left-liberalism, where a white male is supposedly oppressed, along the completely invented and totally subjective cis-trans gender power axis, by working poor immigrant women.

Whereas a materialist class analysis examining power along structural lines ought to make very clear to the liberal-left just who is the exploited and who is doing the exploiting here.

I.d. politics has brought left-liberals to the absurd place where logical consistency with their ideals and analysis requires them to argue that poor immigrant women are oppressing white males by refusing to handle their dicks.

World’s slowest hand clap.

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 20/07/2019 21:31

a white male is supposedly oppressed

...Because a woman said "no" to touching his sex organs....

It's worth repeatedly highlighting this every.... single.... time.

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 20/07/2019 21:32

This has been the end goal all along.

FormerMediocreMale · 20/07/2019 21:40

Is JY about to “blow the bloody doors off” ‘no debate.’

I hope so. I don't think most of the UK general public realise this madness is coming here and in certain places has already been slipped in through the back door!

MsSafina · 20/07/2019 22:01

I lived abroad for a long time in Spain, Italy and France where they're only just catching up with feminism and gay rights. Maybe they're looking at the UK askance over the trans rights and thinking that's a step too far. It certainly doesn't seem to be an issue in those countries. Sonething like the JY case would never make it to court.

FleetsumNJetsum · 20/07/2019 22:04

Deep sigh...

a white male is supposedly oppressed
Because a woman said "no" to touching his sex organs
It's worth repeatedly highlighting this every.... single.... time

As many have said before me, what a time to be alive.

It was good to see the TRA cause being advanced by Yaniv. They could not have a worse representative.

But some things give me pause for thought.

Yaniv is so over the top they're easy to quarantine as a one-off and to represent nothing except their own peculiar world. Although Yaniv is self-ID writ large, that aspect is likely to be lost as this story is argued about in the mainstream.

The tribunal, now being exposed to public scrutiny and seeing which way the wind is blowing, will find against Yaniv, include a telling-off in their decision but without any meaningful sanction, and as a result will let themselves off the hook and send out the message "hey guys, look, the BCHRT system works fine and we stop the bad behaviour of bad people pretending to be trans".

Maybe there'll be a good result overall but watch the politics of how it's used.

nauticant · 20/07/2019 22:32

Your post reminded my of something MsSafina.

You wrote "I lived abroad for a long time in Spain, Italy and France where they're only just catching up with feminism and gay rights."

Many part of Africa are catching up with the telecommunications revolution by not bothering with all those fiddly wires and stuff and going directly to mobile comms.

Some countries, trying to escape the shackles of a repressive culture, whether it's religious or some other oppression, leap forward, often skipping development of an intermediate liberal culture, to seize upon the most eye-catching and praiseworthy liberal causes that are currently in vogue. All very laudatory but it risks creating loopholes if the new culture doesn't have a solid grounding and opens possibilities for a land grab in the new order.

OldCrone · 20/07/2019 22:44

Yaniv is so over the top they're easy to quarantine as a one-off and to represent nothing except their own peculiar world. Although Yaniv is self-ID writ large, that aspect is likely to be lost as this story is argued about in the mainstream.

We thought that Karen White would peak trans everyone, but they came up with the reasoning that the proper procedures weren't followed and mistakes were made (can't remember the exact excuses).

In this case, though, the 'proper procedures' are being followed. To the extent that Yaniv is allowed his days in court to further abuse these women. I think this case will make it totally clear that this is where you end up with self-id, no questions asked, trans trumps all. In a sane world it would, anyway.

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 20/07/2019 22:55

We thought that Karen White would peak trans everyone

Nothing is going to "Peak trans everyone", partially because a large percentage of the population are brainless, they will see this, laugh and move on...
But mostly because the people who make decisions have been infiltrated.

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 20/07/2019 22:57

That said you don't need to get everyone onside, you just need the public to know what's going on so they can ignore and protect themselves when the laws change.

TurboTeddy · 20/07/2019 23:14

I've just finished reading the KF transcript of the final of the three hearings that were grouped together and I can't quite believe what I'm seeing. The lawyer from the JCCF seems exasperated by the whole process, I would imagine he needs a straw and bath full of gin when he gets home after a day trying to wrangle the truth from JY.

Quite why the tribunal doesn't see fit to confirm what genitals JY has is a mystery, particularly as they have changed their mind and contradicted themselves several times.

I would be appalled if the tribunal found in JY's favour. In this last case the waxer was prepared to offer service to a post of TW so I'm not sure how JY can argue discrimination is based on gender identity when it is clearly an issue of lack of experience/training with waxing male genitalia.

I think it's highly likely that even if the tribunal doesn't find in JY's favour they will not face sanctions and yet by MD's testimony we know she felt threatened and called the police to report JY's harassment which is utterly shocking in itself but then to be given license to continue that harassment through the HRT is disgraceful.

On a lighter note...... anyone see the obvious flaw in this argument?

Face palm!

CoolCarrie · 20/07/2019 23:31

Face palm indeed, what a joke.

MagneticSingularity · 21/07/2019 00:10

Shh, don’t tell Juliette that she has unwittingly hit on the most exclusionary and transphobic medical discipline of all of them. No one will admit it out loud, of course, but it’s pretty much an open secret in healthcare circles that ALL the gynaecologists have been actively conspiring to treat ONLY women and it’s been going on since forever. It’s an absolute scandal, I don’t know how they keep getting away with it.

YouTube has some interesting videos if you search for ‘bc human rights tribunal’. Just saying Halo

Ricky Gervais has just tweeted about this. I know people have mixed views on him, but he certainly has a lot of followers.

twitter.com/rickygervais/status/1152819777213218816?s=21

(I’ve not posted in here about this before but I’ve been following the JY situation on GC Twitter for a long time, and have mumsnet to thank for opening my eyes to the risks to women’s rights)

IStillMissBlockbuster · 21/07/2019 08:32

Yeah he's getting some stick for it but he's handling it juuuuust fine:
"Surely real feminism also covers a woman’s right not to have to wax someone’s knob & bollocks if they don’t want to."

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 21/07/2019 08:43

Not a fan of Ricky but he certainly has a way with works that cuts through the crap and doesn’t seem the type to back down with a sackcloth and ashes grovelling apology, and self imposed tritter purgatory.

NeurotrashWarrior · 21/07/2019 08:53

I'm glad certain links are being posted on Ricky's post, esp to the Megan M article and others. Some clearly have no clue.

boatyardblues · 21/07/2019 08:54

No-one’s posted the KF link on Ricky’s thread yet.

Oldrockman · 21/07/2019 09:01

It would be great if one of the tabloids put this on the front page so thousands would see a headline such as "Trans Activist takes Women to Court to make them touch His Balls". Might F up the whole self id BS.

boatyardblues · 21/07/2019 09:08

I have started to wonder if the ratios on Twitter are shifting towards GC because all the activists have muted anyone remotely GC with terfblocker and don’t even know there is discussion happening. Alternatively, they are keeping very, very quiet just now - as they did after the Jess Bradley stuff surfaced.
