JY’s parent sounds like an absolute loon. It would explain a lot.

I'm genuinely shocked that a senior FEMALE BBC news presenter/journalist was seemingly unaware that this was going on.

But her horrified reaction is very encouraging.

VeryLittleOwl · 19/07/2019 13:38

That Postmillennial piece is extremely useful. I've got a lot of very woke TWAW friends on Facebook, so I'm cautious about what I post on there, but shared this with a brief explanation of what the cases were about and expressed the hope that the Tribunal would see that this was actually racially-motivated vexetious litigation rather than discrimination on the part of the defendents. One friend, who'd never heard the term 'female penis' before, has disappeared down the rabbit hole as a result and I suspect will be ascending the lower slopes of peak trans by supper time.

Haworthia · 19/07/2019 13:42

You can always rely on posters at the Farms to really get to the crux of the matter. One poster said “Yaniv has AGP to a pathological degree and is also coo-coo banaynays”.

Which I think has summed up everything rather well.

MsSafina · 19/07/2019 13:59

I have a professional waxer friend and she says she won't perform any services for men as her salon is in a basement and she's often on her own. It's a personal safety issue. So far nobody has complained.

Ameanstreakamilewide · 19/07/2019 14:43

Indeed, Ms

My sister-in-law used to be a masseuse and was actually trained not to massage men from below the waist and above the thighs.
She said that such a physiological response changes the whole dynamic of the treatment and the room.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 19/07/2019 15:05

@MsSafina - very wise. However this male bodied person asserts that they are a woman and have periods. And a penis.

ShagMeRiggins · 19/07/2019 17:31

Yes! Periods from “about 13-14 years old,” according to parent testimony.

How much enabling and cognitive dissonance was occurring in that household? Hmm

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 19/07/2019 17:33

I suspects the parents are not very bright.

OvaHere · 19/07/2019 17:35

Excellent Spiked article (on a side note pleased they have sorted out the unreadable comments format at last)

JY on the radio again, arguing his case. From the farmers:

So far:

Karlene: "I got slammed on Twitter for going way to easy on Jessica Yaniv" and she included his deadname. OH SHIT. She's going through his old racist Facebook posts and mentioned the tampons. Sounds like she actually read some of the shit people linked her to. He admits to the racism but denies the tampon stuff.

ETA: She's defending Lindsay here - "Why would you attack a woman's genitalia on social media?" Jonathan tries to interrupt her but Karlene's not as easy to talk over as respondents at the HRT.

Paraphrasing JY: "The JCCF says I'm getting a brozilian and that's misgendering me" the logic lmao

Karlene: "You ought to apologize to the immigrant community... Talking about immigrants being dirty, talking derogatory about immigrants - that's disgraceful"
JY: "I'm not lying about that"
Karlene boots him off the air. Bless her.

Dr. Alicia Hendley is calling in now. She is pointing out that even if Jon hasn't won any money, getting money is still his goal. Underlines that he has chosen to target immigrants, ESL speakers, etc. Karlene points out that some salons don't service black hair, etc. so expecting total service from every service provider is unfair.

Guy called in, talked about how the government compelling people to touch genitalia is like sexual assault - Karlene backs off that point a bit. He adds that Jon has a pattern of boundary violations, which she agrees with. The ad break immediately goes to an ad narrated by a gentleman with a heavy Indian accent which might be accidental, but it's truly hilarious. I hope JY hates it.

Back from ads.
Karlene: "There are many layers to Jessica Yaniv" Jon is Shrek? "Jon compared business owners to Neo-Nazis... What is that about? A Neo-Nazi?!"

Jay Cameron on! Pointing out the damage this case has done to respondents - businesses closing, depression, marital difficulties, etc. Karlene questions if services should be compulsory for providers working out of their own home. "Is that fair?" Jay says that's the central issue in these cases. "Our position is that it would be an act of tremendous oppression... to require women to provide waxing services to male genitalia... It would be beyond the bottom of the rabbit hole." Jay points out that the issue isn't about gender identity, but that they don't provide the service.

Karlene is deeply concerned about the HRT process: "people refer to it as 'kangaroo courts'... targeting small businesses... holding them hostage to the process, where once you're caught up in the process, it costs thousands of dollars of legal fees. You are automatically presumed to be guilty from the get-go."

Jay says that having an HRT case open against you in today's climate is almost worse than criminal court - being accused of being a bigot or a transphobic person has social stigma. Mentions the 26 lawyers dismissing one respondent. "Many lawyers don't want to touch these types of cases... In some ways it's like having a conviction." Karlene mentions covering a case where a Burlington business owner once told a man not to smoke a joint in his restaurant and was taken to Ontario's HRT for huge $ prior to blanket non-smoking laws. Jay summarizes the dismissed complaints (the ones available on the BCHRT website) and suggests that dropping a supposedly serious human rights complaint shows questionable intent. Jay gets to elevator-pitch the JCCF's non-denominational mission of protecting constitutional rights.

"Jessica Yaniv... is not well liked in some circles." Ad break! Call in if you want. 416-640-0200. Ad copy: "It's a great time to get wrecked". Hahaha.

Back from ads. Karlene deadnames Jessica, says she had good reason to want a publication ban. Says JY "alleged to have made comments about little girls, and helping little girls to insert tampons, but all over social media that is being tweeted and re-tweeted and re-tweeted, time and time again." Mad about his shit talk to Lindsay Shepherd re: her genitals when genitals are relevant to his case. "Why would he be attacking a woman on Twitter and attacking her genitalia? Why would you engage in an attack against a woman's genitalia?" Pointing out hypocrisy as Jessica identifies as woman. Reads out his racist tweet posted as Jonathan which he JUST confirmed was him on air earlier: "I joined a girl's gym because I don't want issues with these people". Points out that he doubled down. "This is disgraceful."

"I think Jessica Yaniv sought out immigrant business owners... because the intent was to punish them and drag them through the Human Rights Commission process." She's 100% correct!

Points out that services for trans women may be harder to find outside of Toronto, "but should people be forced to do it? That's the legal question hanging here. That is what is being adjudicated here at the BC Human Rights process. And why would Jessica Yaniv accuse a business owner of being a Neo-Nazi? There seems to be no boundaries in what Jessica Yaniv says and how she targets people. It's a problem." Taking calls.

Back from ads. Karlene reading this Post Millenial article, recommends reading their article and the National Post one. Says offering services is good business, but shouldn't be compulsory. Tells Jessica to stop being a racist and stop attacking women lol "STOP IT!" End of show.

FleetsumNJetsum
Wow that's incredible, do you know if its a big radio station?

BitOfFun · 19/07/2019 19:01

Fantastic that the mainstream media are starting to realise the can of worms this has opened. Yes, Yaniv is an exceptionally tricky liability to the trans community, but people need to understand that the issues that #waxmyballs has raised are absolutely intrinsic to the logic of the whole "Transwomen are women" school of thought, and of course the push for self-ID.

FleetsumNJetsum · 19/07/2019 19:01

A Toronto radio station, the program is News Talk I think, www.sauga960am.ca/

Yesterday they interviewed JY and the group that are representing the women, after JY butted in on Twitter KarleneNation@OneNationK.
Then a huge pile-on in her twitter feed, basically saying "did you DO any homework for this???" So he was on again today...and yes, she did her homework

FleetsumNJetsum · 19/07/2019 19:14

Sorry MNHQ, wrote "he was". Meant "they were", of course. Was truly an honest mistake.

dontdoxmeeither · 19/07/2019 20:06

Is there a recording of the radio interview that anyone can link?

Fingers crossed this is unraveling

Grumpelstilskin · 19/07/2019 20:35

One of the funniest comments I read on YouTube on someone's video discussing JY’s warped ‘discrimination Olympics’ was “Think future Posie Parker's sent back cyborg JY to try and avert the Trans Reich.” Grin

If it's the interview I'm thinking of then someone over at KF has transcribed it.

Manderleyagain · 19/07/2019 21:13

Reports that there will be no transcript of the tribunal, and no video. If there is an audio it won't be transcribed, and published. Presumably the judgement will be published?

So goinglikeelsie (a hero) will be the only public record of what was said in the trial, as no journalists went.

You can find it on Helen Joyce's timeline.

So JY is still trying to get that all bodies swim going...

Article about JY in Spiked by Brendan O'Neill

www.spiked-online.com/2019/07/19/canadas-bizarre-trans-waxing-controversy/

JessicaWakefieldSV · 19/07/2019 22:09

That Spiked article is great.

DustyDiamond · 19/07/2019 22:19

No pissing about in it - straight to the big glaring obviousness of the whole issue.

HorridHenrysNits · 19/07/2019 22:19

I guess Brendan O'Neill is still good for something after all.

bettybeans · 19/07/2019 22:39

Right. That's it. I'm just going to give in and say it. I appreciate Kiwi Farms. 🥝

Not even sorry.

A few years ago I would have balked at the idea of reading it never mind applauding it, but their diligence and work on issues like this is undeniably impressive. There's some good folks in there.
