Why can’t transgender lesbians just date each other?

Hithere12 · 17/06/2019 01:41

I keep seeing online transgender women so angry a female lesbian doesn’t want to date someone trans, but it begs the question why can’t they just date each other?

If they genuinely believe a trans woman is without question a woman and they are attracted to women then surely this would solve all their problems in terms of finding a partner? They could just date each other? Unless they don’t want to date trans women because they don’t see trans women as real women? Hmm Confused

And I do apologize for any responses I didn’t get to. It was a lot of responses. Your ideas are still important to me

Yay?! Are we supposed to be glad. Nis that like when a company says ‘your custom is important to us’? 😂

SidewaysOtter · 12/02/2023 08:25

I’m here to shine ✨

That’s nice dear. But if you’d taken a few minutes to read around this forum before wading in, you’d have noticed that “cis” is generally taken as an offensive term.

Buy hey, thank goodness there’s a man here to educate us all 🙄

Helleofabore · 12/02/2023 08:38

One more male shining brightly!

Aroundtheriverbend · 12/02/2023 08:47

"there is a word called gaslighting, and it involves trying to tell someone they are “crazy” for sharing of their thoughts own experiences."

Well, I for one, am very grateful for Veronica taking the time to educate the Mumsnet Feminist Boards about the term 'gaslighting'. Otherwise I would never have heard of such a concept. My gratitude is immense to be granted this learning opportunity.

HorribleNecktie · 12/02/2023 08:56

Me me me me me me me me me.

mrshoho · 12/02/2023 08:56

Yes I'm so grateful to Veronica for being the shining example of what a gracious, delicate, respectful good little transwoman is. Doesn't matter the minor detail that Veronica dismisses the entire point of the original post.

As funny as this is im not sure that veronica gets sarcasm 😀

Not seeing many "facts", just a lot of dubious assertions and self-serving rhetoric.

Veronica is brilliant at telling us that our 'opinions' on material reality are important to them.

Whilst simultaneously saying that lesbians should suck up male harassment because that validates their own identity as a woman. Being seen as a sexualised target for males is validating.

That's what Veronica tells us.

Veronica is tone deaf to the point that it's not about how Veronica feels. It's about how lesbians feel about being demonised, socially abused and coercively controlled and are having their legal protections removed to make sure male identity is validated.

There is absolutely no understanding of the power of words and the dynamics of control within words. Because it's all about how Veronica thinks the world should view trans women. Not how the world should view women. It's telling. It's part of how males think plastic surgery and drugs make rule the world rather than paying attention to the biological reality of those of us born female.

The patronising tone is the very icing on the cake in the contempt Veronica shows isn't it?

Veronica doesn't even attempt to try and listen. And boy does it show.

SinnerBoy · 12/02/2023 10:58

Veronica I hate to break it to you, but you don't "pass." Any man chatting you up will know within 2 seconds that you are trans and if they want to take it further, are on the bisexual spectrum, or else have a trans fetish.

From your early posts, it's my opinion that you exist in some sort of porn fantasy bubble. What you describe seems to me to be completely unrealistic.

BernardBlacksMolluscs · 12/02/2023 11:25

I am wondering if Veronica was feminist baiting chat bot mk2. Nothing he / it said made much sense, but the volume of output was high, although they’d slowed it down a bit (the speed of responses was a really obvious tell last time)

he also kept his temper pretty well when being referred to with the correct pronouns. That usually makes these men lose their shit.

whether he was a person or a machine, it was very obvious there was something seriously off with him (or its programmers) anyway. Not the advert for thinking men who enjoy role playing as women are lovely and completely on the up and up that he / its programmers may have intended

WickedSerious · 12/02/2023 11:37

RedToothBrush · 12/02/2023 00:08

This is like one of those phonelines you call, and are on hold for hours, that goes 'we are sorry for keeping you waiting, you phonecall is important to us'

Then you get through after being on hold for 45 mins only to have the pleasant of some numpty in a call centre who doesn't listen to a word of your reasonable complaint, suggests the problem lies at your end, won't take responsibility and generally gives you utterly shite customer service.

In the end you ask to be put through to a manager, since this is the fourth time you've actually called trying to solve the problem with their incompetent service.

Inevitably, after contacting the OfAgency or whatever it is, the company eventually gives you a non-apology but will give you a derisory offer of compensation as a 'gesture of goodwill' whilst never taking responsibility for their fuck up.

'My boiler exploded the day after it was installed'.

'Thank you for your custom and your valuable feedback'.

I agree - Veronica reads very much like a chat bot - stilted, overly formal and polite.

DeanVolecapeAKAelderberry · 12/02/2023 12:22

Oh of course Veronica was a bot. I still miss it, even when the lack of response to points is obvious. The total absence of a sense of humour is a tell - a hard thing to programme.

risefromyourgrave · 12/02/2023 12:28

Ah yes, I can’t believe I missed that. My spider senses did tingle a little bit at the reply about Beyoncé, I’ve been tangentially involved in development for AI Chatbots. In my defence I had a terrible headache and was very tired!

Yes, I was beginning to wonder which is why I called 'him' by male pronouns and called him a fake and devoid of integrity. I was amazed not to have any comeback.

BernardBlacksMolluscs · 12/02/2023 12:42

oh dear programmers. while your fictional larper was certainly delusional and living in porn world, he wasn't angry or sexist enough to be really convincing.

do try again

SinnerBoy · 12/02/2023 12:43

BernardBlacksMolluscs · 12/02/2023 12:43

'tis only a theory

and frankly people who want to force others that they're members of the opposite sex are going to come off as pretty damn weird in conversation anyway

BernardBlacksMolluscs · 12/02/2023 12:44

'* to pretend that (they're members of the opposite sex)

MargaritaPie · 12/02/2023 12:45

"I keep seeing online transgender women so angry a female lesbian doesn’t want to date someone trans"

I've never seen this tbh. What I do see a lot is gender critical people making this allegation, even more so after that BBC article. The one that platformed Lily Cade who called for a genocide of transpeople.

Yeah, but you never see anything, do you? You never follow the links here, you just post asinine crap, without evidence.

"pretend"?

That's a bit transphobic.
