Barrister Sarah Phillimore and the NSPCC

Sarah Phillimore has reported the NSPCC to the charities commission, as they refused to confirm that either the allegations made about wanking@work are false or that they are investigating matter.

As she says, this is another Oxfam or Kids Company waiting to happen. Thank you Sarah for devoting your expertise to this.

“Just chilling out in rubber in a Travelodge whilst on a work trip. Had a w* whilst watching some poen [sic].”

That quote isn't the original one where he talked about pissing and wanking at work. In rubber of course.

Clearly The Mirror is treading carefully here. I'm guessing the NSPCC is making noises about legal action if The Mirror references NSPCC premises.

So The Mirror is now talking about another incident with this guy instead. One which doesn't reference NSPCC premises.

Did I mention NSPCC premises?

Sleight of hand there. He did wear his gimp suit to work, but (perhaps) only relieved himself back in the hotel.

Still, wearing fetish gear to work is something normally only done by out AGPs.

Lordamighty · 23/06/2019 09:28

Well it may be sanitised but I am cheering for the Sunday Mirror. At last someone has been brave enough to print this story.

Spero · 23/06/2019 20:09

Alan Selby has had a word with the subs and my quote is apparently now restored in the online edition at least. Without it, the story makes little sense.

Well done to the Sunday Mirror. I am still baffled as to why no other paper will touch it.

Good work Sarah.

If you remember from the John Hemming stuff once one paper picked it up the rest followed pretty quickly, once it's in the public domain other papers might not be as reticent to hold back on reporting on it.

Lazy journalism has its plus points at times.

christinarossetti19 · 23/06/2019 20:30

They've actually included your 'toilet at work' quote, although the article only previously mentioned the 'travelodge wanking on a work trip' footage.

Excellent.

hahah, yes I did notice that had been Trojan Horsed in.
Well played Alan!

Wow. Last bit is interesting. Looks like the CC might just get it

"After the barrister referred her complaint to the Charity Commission on Friday, a spokesman for the regulator told RollOnFriday, “Concerns have been raised with us about NSPCC’s handling of a safeguarding matter involving a member of staff". He confirmed they had "contacted the charity to assess its response to this incident".

"The public rightly expect charities to be safe environments for all who come into contact with them”, he added."

Fantastic!

FreeFreesia · 24/06/2019 11:10

Nice work there Spero !

eurochick · 24/06/2019 11:14

Good news!

Rollonfriday has run a few new stories with a gender critical slant. Hurrah for rof cynicism!

OrchidInTheSun · 24/06/2019 11:31

Great work Spero :)

Spero · 15/07/2019 21:27

July 15 update as promised. Really pleased to have email today from NSPCC who made their own referral to the Charities Commission, recognising the seriousness of the situation. I am reassured by this. Hopefully the CC will make some public statement - I will contact them if I don't here anything within a reasonable time. Thanks again for all your support.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 15/07/2019 21:30

Well done. Thanks for pursuing this.

truthisarevolutionaryact · 15/07/2019 21:33

That's excellent news. It was very worrying that they initially minimised such an awful situation.
Well done for being so determined

OvaHere · 15/07/2019 21:33

Brilliant. Well done!

Popchyk · 15/07/2019 21:33

Thanks, Spero.

You have forced them to take action. Well done.

NoCureForLove · 15/07/2019 21:35

Really well done.

ZebrasAreBras · 15/07/2019 21:37

Well done, spero.

Worrying indeed that it was seemingly your actions that forced them into this - sounds like they were trying to brush it under the carpet until you intervened.

Weezol · 15/07/2019 21:41

Thank you for this Spero.

Ereshkigal · 15/07/2019 21:48

Thank you and well done!

Redshoeblueshoe · 15/07/2019 22:00

Well done Spero
