Lil' OJ is being demolished as he tries to defend Bergdorf etc

Look now if you're interested as it will no doubt be deleted soon.

I've been chatting to a family member about this, she doesn't know anything about it but is involved in a lot of management stuff and asked her team what they thought. She thought it would actually be difficult to fire someone for having a video like that.

DeRigueurMortis · 13/06/2019 18:23

Hi Owen 👋

You know that "right side of history" you're so determined to be on....well I'm happy to bet my pearls that is isn't the side that prioritises in work wanking over child safeguarding.

JackyHolyoake · 13/06/2019 18:26

She thought it would actually be difficult to fire someone for having a video like that.

I guess that is a possibility if there is no clause in any contract about bringing the organisation into disrepute, which most organisations do include.

CraftyWoman · 13/06/2019 18:29

LOJ won't listen to women's views, well, unless those views immediately conform to his anyway. He sends his "mother's" Twitter account in to deal with the women's views. Or stomps off in a huff from a TV studio.

It's pathetic. His views flip flop according to the zeitgeist, and, as soon as the tide changes in this, he'll delete his Twitter posts and pretend he was always on this side of things. Just like he did with Corbyn.

Goosefoot · 13/06/2019 18:30

JackyHolyoake

I asked her about that specifically, she said that might work, but it could be difficult to define what counted as ill-repute. Which I suppose might be true these days when there are those who think it is a good idea to link pictures of their fetishes to their linkedin accounts.

She thought it would be easier to pay the person to leave. Sort of depressing.

CraftyWoman · 13/06/2019 18:31

I guess that is a possibility if there is no clause in any contract about bringing the organisation into disrepute, which most organisations do include.

It would have directly contravened my previous company's social media policy and would have constituted gross misconduct.

BuzzShitbagBobbly · 13/06/2019 18:32

Bless her ignorant (literally) little head:
Grin

sinéadd*

it's not just a "stupid place" though, it's where transphobes organise and radicalise others

Thanks Jacky

Owen can bring his own sodding sandwiches next time he’s in town Grin

Imagine not being able to control what the little wimmin are saying. It’s killing you isn’t is, Owen.
🤣

JackyHolyoake · 13/06/2019 18:38

DuMondeB I left Labour too, last year, after years of membership,, campaigning etc, because of the misogyny.

Jones can make his own tea too! Brew

CassianAndor · 13/06/2019 18:39

Oh, right @MNHQ, are we not allowed to be rude about public figures slagging us off on Twitter? JFC.

Cwenthryth · 13/06/2019 18:40

OJ’s followers lap up the mumsnet hate though:

“seriously, go look at their feminist board, haven't checked myself but i can guarantee practically every topic is full of users talking about trans rights in outrageous bigoted terms”

They haven’t checked, but can guarantee we’re all bigots! Wonder if they understand what bigot means...?

Women talking about the safeguarding of children, with knowledge of the statutory required procedures = cesspit.

I'll just leave it at that, eh, Owen?

threads, all about Safeguarding children & vulnerable adults not transphobia or homophobia as Owen Jones would have his twatter followers believe:

Owen Jones does not understand Safeguarding any more than Munroe Bergdorf. Their sexual orientation &/or gender identity is entirely irrelevent to this

WizbetisaNizbet · 13/06/2019 18:43

It just proves @Cwenthryth they don't actually look a things too deeply. They form their opinions based on what they think we say on here or what someone else says then and parrot it.

R0wantrees · 13/06/2019 18:43

“seriously, go look at their feminist board, haven't checked myself but i can guarantee practically every topic is full of users talking about trans rights in outrageous bigoted terms”

Any new vistors to the board might find this thread useful. Many new to the issues have:

TheAngryLlama · 13/06/2019 18:45

It would not be difficult to fire someone for doing this. At all. It would be one of the easiest least challengeable sackings imaginable.
Your friend needs better HR advice.

callmekalinda · 13/06/2019 18:50

If the NSPCC does not view this person's activities in the workplace as gross misconduct, then this proves they are not fit for purpose.

JackyHolyoake · 13/06/2019 18:51

The issue here is one of boundaries ... something of which narcissists have no ability to understand.

IcedPurple · 13/06/2019 18:52

Owen hates women with opinions.

I think that statement might be more accurate if you left out the last two words.

dreichuplands · 13/06/2019 18:52

It is not homophobic to expect employees at a child protection charity which has statutory powers to be able to contain their sexuality, whatever that is at work.
To take pornographic videos at work and make explicit reference to this being a children's charity is highlighting boundaries around children and sex and then breaking them for sexual gratification.
This is dangerous and exploitative of the children that the charity is meant to protect.
This man does not work directly with DC but will be given stories that they can use with supporters, real stories that previously abused DC have given permission to have used to help raise money for more DC to recieve services.
To bring our own sexual needs into that work places is disrespectful and potentially dangerous.

R0wantrees · 13/06/2019 18:53

On the off chance Owen Jones continues reading the thread, this is a clear factual explanation of Safeguarding by Professor Rosa Freedman (Reading University Law, Conflict & Global Development).
Perhaps he could take it seriously & when he's calmed down have a think about it (be good to share with his couple of colleagues at The Guardian who are also having an overly emotional reaction)

"THREAD ON CHILD SAFEGUARDING AND THE NSPCC: For the past three years I have been researching and working on child safeguarding in conflict and crisis zones. The international child safeguarding standards, developed by @keepchildsafe provide a tool for implementing child safeguarding across organisations ranging from local book clubs to multinational institutions.

An overall approach to safeguarding children is rooted in understanding the risks to children from the organisation, (its staff, programme and operations). This is a robust and comprehensive process that begins with developing or strengthening a child safeguarding policy that describes how the organisation is committed to promoting the rights, dignity and well-being of children, and preventing all forms of exploitation and abuse.

It then requires organisational development in the form of allocating staff time, ensuring staff are trained and coordinated, and that there is good communication on safeguarding children.
There also needs to be sound processes for planning, implementation, monitoring and review, to ensure clear and transparent lines of accountability right up to board level.

Our project website showcases how this can be done in peacekeeping operations: research.reading.ac.uk/safeguarding-children/the-toolkit/ …
The Keeping Children Safe website showcases how this can be done across all types of organisations and contexts www.keepingchildrensafe.org.uk/

The criticisms being levelled against the NSPCC are not about individuals being homosexual or transgender, just as the criticisms being levelled against Oxfam are not about individuals being heterosexual white men.

The criticisms levelled are about organisations taking responsibility for ensuring that people working with children uphold the organisation’s policies on child safeguarding.

Publishing photographs of your genitals whilst in an NSPCC building violates child safeguarding standards and goes against the organisation's values.

Encouraging children to contact you privately violates child safeguarding standards and goes against the organisation's values.

That is not to say that either individual has harmed or would ever harm a child – the issue is not about what they have done but about whether they uphold or contravene the organisation's child safeguarding robust policies and procedures.

The issue is about ensuring that the organisation has robust measures in place to ensure child safeguarding standards are implemented and upheld across the organisation.

The organisation's responsibility is to the children it works with and the communities it serves, and part of that responsibility is ensuring that its values and that international child safeguarding standards are implemented and upheld. END"

We work according to ACAS guidelines. If I found that an employee had filmed themselves masturbating in my office, I would have his, her or their gender-free arse out the door faster than you can say thrush.

GROSS misconduct; immediate suspension; summary dismissal.

Much applause.
