I agree goosefoot there have been important advances in the acknowledgement of lesbian/homosexual/bisexual relationships. That's great and how it should be. I've partied in gay clubs in my younger days, same sex couples making out, arseless chaps, leather gear, transvestites it's all a bit meh to me.
Some images recent pride parades are concerning, especially the ones involving children. Let me first clarify that children should always feel loved by their parents and never feel ashamed. I understand that part of that is children being able to celebrate and acknowledge their parents love. Unfortunately I find myself increasingly uncomfortable with the pride parades of late because it is so highly sexualised it is inappropriate to children.
There was a recent clip I saw on the internet of a young boy (10 or under) dancing and twerking. What caught my eye was the surrounding crowd. Partly into his dance a person who I could probably best describe as a cross between Rainbow Brite and Chucky started undulating towards the boy. A female bystander put her arm out to stop his progress. She knew. She knew instinctively. It's sad that what should be a celebration has become marred by fetishists.
I'm just going to say it. People can accuse me of kink shaming. Whatever. Wear your leather, get spanked, choked, rape fantasies, keep it in the privacy of your home, between consenting adults and be sure to use your safe word. Never in front of kids. That goes for both heterosexual and gays. I'm going to stop here because there are other proclivities that crept under the kink banner that I haven't mentioned. Things that if anyone has listened or read anything to do with true crime know can lead to a very dark path.
