Lil' OJ is being demolished as he tries to defend Bergdorf etc

Look now if you're interested as it will no doubt be deleted soon.

As a bisexual woman I am fucking disgusted that OJ is making out this is an issue of homophobia.

It absolutely isn't. Neither is it an issue of transphobia, kink shaming or fetish judging.

It's about someone absolutely, undeniably acting in an unprofessional way by videoing themselves wanking and pissing at work then uploading it to the internet.

The rubber and the fact it's a children's charity are just additional factors that make people uncomfortable.

A straight man doing this would be fired. Therefore so should a gay or trans man or woman. THAT is equality.

My sexuality does not give me the right to carte blanche when it comes to expecting preferential treatment when I am in the wrong.

He made an unprofessional and foolish decision to film and share what he did. That is the fact of the matter - having equal consequences to straight cis counterparts is not homophobia or transphobia, it is equality in action.

And now OJ has run away. He cannot seriously believe that any action there than firing the NSPCC employee in question would be appropriate.

Again I am bisexual and have of course encountered homophobia. Not in my fucking name OJ, how dare you use my sexuality to defend the indefensible.

OJ is in an echo chamber because he blocks those who disagree. Anything or anyone not agreeing is simply homophobic / transphobic. He won't read or respect anyone who criticises. I still can't believe he gets away with covering MB so much over so few days in a way that ignores the actual issues though.

Justhadathought · 13/06/2019 15:10

I feel like the older I get, the more I think it's just a lot better when people were expected to keep their sex lives private and there weren't articles about it in magazines or tv or anything else

Yes, and recent reports suggest that young people are having less sex than ever. They're surrounded by it...and so much pornography addiction...that just straightforward 'normal' sex or love-making is no longer a turn on. It's not liberating. All it represents is a gross distortion of a normal and natural human function/drive.

placemats · 13/06/2019 15:11

Children first. NSPCC

That's the priority. Listening OJ?

Putting children first is not

Homophobic

nor is it

Transphobic

And it's not about 'won't somebody think of the children', because this the raison d'etre of the NSPCC.

What does the protection of children on a national level mean?

GrinitchSpinach · 13/06/2019 15:11

Oh, and I'd add that it's the queer movement doing this now, having co-opted the gay rights movement and now wearing its skin like Vincent d'Onofrio's alien character in Men in Black.

Children's boundaries and the protection of them are more important than anything else.

Certainly more important than the Sanctimonious Morph and his endless ignorant rantings.

But hey: if Owen wants to die on the hill of destroying safeguarding, he should go ahead and do it.

Because we won't forget (or forget to archive) everything he's said and done over the last few days.

AverageAvenger · 13/06/2019 15:24

This is a national scandal. OJ should be removed from The Guardian. He’s completely lost it and I’m struggling to see how he can get away with this. He is abhorrent for defending this man, who openly calls HIMSELF a pervert.

I didn’t think this misogynistic, appalling man could stoop any lower. This is gravely concerning.

BuzzShitbagBobbly · 13/06/2019 15:26

ThatCurlyGirl He made an unprofessional and foolish decision to film and share what he did. That is the fact of the matter - having equal consequences to straight cis counterparts is not homophobia or transphobia, it is equality in action.

Not sure if you posted in error or unawareness, but "cis" is an unwelcome term on MN given it's connotations and deliberate/dehumanising/othering usage by TRAs etc.

JackyHolyoake · 13/06/2019 15:28

Could you imagine OJ sitting down like that with, say, Julia Long, and discussing with her what it is like to be persecuted by the GBT community for being a lesbian?

No, I thought not.

If ever OJ ever admitted that he knows that MB is not a woman that interview nailed it.

BuzzShitbagBobbly · 13/06/2019 15:32

OJ is certainly on the wrong side of history on this.

If he were to admit what he knew all along that he'd misjudged things, though, his entire world would collapse.

He's built a career and a life on supporting this, so he would lose it all. Not to mentioned the fatal savaging he'd get from everyone he once considered his nearest and dearest (looking especially at people he likes to video his fireside chats with).

So he has no other choice but to ride this out till the bitter end and milk it for everything he can, then hope he doesn't get destroyed in the shitshow when it comes.

placemats · 13/06/2019 15:36

But Munroe what does sexual deviant mean anymore?

Justhadathought · 13/06/2019 15:36

Could you imagine OJ sitting down like that with, say, Julia Long, and discussing with her what it is like to be persecuted by the GBT community for being a lesbian?

I was about to say much the same. Has he ever interviewed any gender critical woman, or non -liberal feminist? I assume not. His insecurity would be terribly exposed.

placemats · 13/06/2019 15:37

Monroe what does second class citizen mean?

placemats · 13/06/2019 15:41

Monroe for me second class citizen doesn't mean someone who has thousands of pounds spent on private surgery and then they launch a career on it. Unless you are snidely referring to those who have done this to escape from poverty.

Michael Jackson spent thousands of dollars on surgery. He was never considered a second class citizen though.

placemats · 13/06/2019 15:42

Sexual deviancy can get you off a murder sentence now.

JackyHolyoake · 13/06/2019 15:43

Has he ever interviewed any gender critical woman, or non -liberal feminist?

The only woman I have ever seen him interview is Ruth Hunt, CEO of Stonewall.

ThatCurlyGirl · 13/06/2019 15:46

@BuzzShitbagBobbly

Not in error apologies, I'm aware of the connotations of "cis" but was using the language of OJ in irony - wrote too quickly in anger for this to be clear! I agree it's dehumanising to "other" women by adding an extra term where not needed. Thanks for opportunity to clarify x

JackyHolyoake · 13/06/2019 15:50

I laughed out loud when MB talked about whenever attending a speaking gig about women and empowerment of women MB is "targetted".

What is happening here is that almost no-one believes MB is a woman and they see the dissonance. It is not MB being "targetted" ti is the fraud that is being enacted that is being targetted.
