During the discussion, James said he wouldn’t fancy a woman with a penis and thought it was unbelievable (though he believed her) that women would get shit for feeling the same.

Interesting. He was awful on this issue last year, but I've seen he's also retweeted Helen Lewis criticism of Pink News re JB so maybe he's finally starting to get it. I did see one tweet calling him a transphobe simply for the retweet which shows just how meaningless that term has become.

That woman is brave for ringing in. I’m shocked James is even addressing it as his responses to women with concerns before hasn’t been great.

I saw a great quote on twitter about TRAs a while ago- 'You only gave me the shirt off your back. I wanted the skin'.

For me this sums it up. Most people start out as sympathetic allies but the demands and behaviour gets more and more ridiculous and frankly unhinged that eventually they alienate them. There has been such a change in responses to articles/ tweets in recent months too, the overwhelming majority are GC now. Hopefully James has been 'peaked'.

He's not talking about a woman with a penis though is he? He's talking about not fancying a man with breasts. Which is not really surprising for a hetero man. Is it expected that a pair of breasts is all it takes for a straight man to become bisexual?

James's producers may be sensing a turning of the tide? Because he managed to sound as wanky and patronising as last year, when he bullied and mocked various women callers on the same topic.

He'll need a full mea culpa before I give him even the tiniest brownie point.

Remember the interview he did with Paris Lees? It was all, dare I say, flirtatious and I remember thinking ‘he actually rather fancies Paris and Paris knows it and is revelling in it’. I wonder what Paris thinks of this proclamation? Although to be fair I can’t recall Paris ever saying anything about people having to accept trans women as lesbians but they do get some stick for being beautiful and ‘passing’.

I rarely listen to LBC but did listen to a debate publicised on here last year and decided he was another woke bloke who didn't get it because the issue didn't affect him and he wanted to be seen to be nice and inclusive.
He is maybe starting to see that being inclusive shouldn't mean saying sex is irrelevant and that everyone should play a giant game of "let's pretend".
Also the large number of males saying they want female pronouns but making minimal effort to appear like women or empathise with women is changing many people's idea of what a transsexual is. Males in women's sport isn't helping their cause either as it just looks like an attempt to dominate us.

EweSurname when watching TV with my parents awhile ago there was a programme listed but they couldn't fit the whole title on the menu.

The actual title was Killer Women with Piers Morgan. But all we could see was Killer Women with Pie. It's become a family joke.

I noticed James referred more than once to pre op. Someone needs to explain to him

1. That as few as 5% of men who identify as women have genital surgery.
2. That a neovagina is not by any means the same as a vagina and is unlikely to prove an acceptable substitute.
3. That the removed of the penis doesn't magically turn a man into a woman.

I remember Posie Parker calling into LBC, talking about the rise in young adults bring transferred to gender clinics, made some very reasonable points, and James completely slated her, called her transphobic and tried to humiliate her.

Earlier this year I heard hi being interviewed by Richard Herring and all I really knew about him was what I’d read here. At one point he spoke about trans issues and said something like “I’m still learning.” I mentally did and eyebrow raise to that at the time but maybe something is sinking in.

I suppose it’s a case of watch this space.

Listen to the interview with Posie, it's on Youtube. Sneering misogynist, outraged that, amongst other things, she may not want to get changed in cubicle next to him. "What, me, the Britain'sVoiceOfReason, you wouldn't want to get changed next to me....?" As if she knows him and can trust him just because he's on the bloody radio. Er hello, this is the thinking that made people think Jimmy Saville, Rolf Harris et al were cuddly uncle types, because of their media personas. He has no idea and gives zero fucks about the decisions women have to make about their safety all the time, even in the most innocuous seeming circumstances.

He's been plugging his book on the basis that it includes an interview with a trans woman who has absolutely convinced him about lady brain. And as he is Britain'sVoiceOfReason, he is right, we are all wrong, if only we too sat down for a few hours with a young trans person, we would revise our wrong think.

However, James likes to be on the right side of history, because being wrong would destroy his belief that he is Britain'sVoiceOfReason. So I think he has started hedging his bets on this issue as he has seen the tide turning. He sat firmly on the fence on the trans women in sport debate he had, but craftily - saying he didn't agree with it, whist at the same time making out that the women complaining about it were being hysterical and that there was no problem, because they could not name any trans women Olympians (doesn't give a toss about grassroots sport, where this will have the real killer effect).

It's all their on Youtube to listen to. There's a Youtuber called Incorrigible (James' no 1 fan boy), he posts a lot of these "debates".

What makes me so annoyed is that, as a Remainer, he has played out all the best arguments for Remain and against Brexit on his programme - but in such an obnoxious, sneering and patronising manner, that I just can't listen to him any more. He epitomises the "metropolitan elite" persona he claims is a myth. I also strongly suspect that his producers screen out any callers he thinks might actually be able to get the better of him. That's no insult to Posie, by the way, his manner towards female callers is always particularly toxic, from what I have heard.

Oh, and when Posie was trying to explain social contagion to him and he was deliberately being obtuse about this term.....my radio was lucky to survive.

The irony with James is that, all the arguments he plays out about the fact-free, unicorn thinking of Brexiteers can be applied directly against those who believe people can change their sex or be born into the wrong body.

What really pisses me off is the O’Brian is so sound on so many things. He’s really good at calling people to account and demanding evidence- but he seems to have a complete blind spot on this. His interview with Paris Lees was bizarre-not his usual style at all.

I agree with kalinda about JO'B and Brexit - and I'm a remainer too.
