@MNHQ / anyone

I've seen this tweet and wondering if it's verifiable a) that MN had a commercial contract that's ending and b) if yes, that's anything to do with transphobia?

The twitter thread references *@BirdsEye and @BirdsEye*UK

mobile.twitter.com/DadTrans/status/1122121214351290368

Growing-up-trans. @DadTrans

Parents of trans kids telling companies how much it hurts to see their advertising associated with transphobia works. Delighted to be able to buy
@BirdsEye fishfingers again after they confirmed they're no longer in a business relationship with #Mumsnet the #transphobia brand.

I used to buy loads of fish fingers. But not Birdseye as they are too expensive compared with own brand products. The kids love fish but I don't buy it because it's expensive. Fish fingers are a kid friendly cheaper substitute

aprilviolets · 30/04/2019 18:39

I love the TRA interpretation of this letter!
The letter was basically saying yeah, our contract has ended (as all contracts always do!) so your complaint isn't necessary.

BlackeyedGruesome · 30/04/2019 18:47

pollocks.

ah well I shall no longer feel obliged to buy birds eye. I shall return to being a cheap skate.

Didactylos · 30/04/2019 19:05

its terribly shellfish but I will feel pretty bleak when this thread ends. I will miss herring all these brill puns.

Ereshkigal · 30/04/2019 23:25

There's a time and a plaice for fish puns.

Datun · 30/04/2019 23:33

Just as we thought. Thanks Justine.

TRAs - don't they carp on? I knew they'd flounder, though.

Sprats.

Yo chums
I was just going to reply but salmon's at the door
I'm a little hard of herring so bass-ically
I'll trout not to be shellfish
My spirit-shoal beliefs flounder
It's school tho
For-tuna-ly we can all de-bait

Grilling you, surely girl

Bowlofbabelfish · 01/05/2019 07:27

we don't believe it's had a significant impact on advertising activity.

Very glad to hear it.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 01/05/2019 07:41

How can fish fingers be transphobic? I'm just wondering.

calpop · 01/05/2019 08:13

I saw this on FB this morning and just knew it would be codswallop. What a waffley silly woman.

AnyOldPrion · 01/05/2019 08:21

Thanks Justine!

Just read the Gay Star News piece.

”The reply I, initially, received from one of the marketing representatives at Birds Eye was wholly unacceptable, so I wrote to the CEO.’”

Wholly unacceptable! Anyone else wondering what it said? Potato, perhaps!

And thanks Bird’s Eye, if you’re reading this. For not bowing to the appalling pressure.

Ereshkigal · 01/05/2019 08:45

Wholly unacceptable! Anyone else wondering what it said? Potato, perhaps!

I said exactly the same thing upthread Grin great minds etc

BuzzPeakWankBobbly · 02/05/2019 13:03

First fishfingergate, now this?

I imagine Butlins management are quaking in their boots at the massive revenue fall off that is coming from the inevitable boycott

GirlDownUnder · 02/05/2019 13:25

Hahahahahaha oh that's brilliant! I can't wait for the twitteratti to melt down 😂

Thanks for the update Buzz - I needed the laugh today with all that's going on with Caro

But how to pun this hmm 🤔

There is a fly in the ointment. Apparently they consulted with MN about all aspects, including the changing village.

Which makes it sound suspiciously mixed sex to me.

And we all know what happens in mixed sex changing facilities.

ErrolTheDragon · 02/05/2019 17:23

Which makes it sound suspiciously mixed sex to me.

Family-friendly facilities do need some mixed-sex changing suitable for dads with daughters and mums with sons, and for people who need carers who could be of the opposite sex. But they should always have single sex spaces as well. I hope MN told them that!

We overlook a roof terrace and the residents were hosting a baby shower/reveal party. I'm nosey so I plonked myself down on the balcony to nosey read my book.

The only person who looked like they were enjoying it was the mum-to-be.

Her mum spent time rushing back and forth with drinks and food, and there were 2 friends who looked like they were going to jump over the terrace to escape. I've never seen adults play kids party games (sober). Then they all pointed jam jars for some reason and were all made to sing a song (each person sang a song to the mum to be).

I'd rather eat my own poo.
