I find this truly disgusting. This is a list of emotions that many teenagers feel. The ref to ASD and mental health issues is appalling.

Is anyone else wondering about the eugenics aspect of this? Young people with bipolar or on the autistic spectrum are unlikely to reproduce themselves if on long term cross sex hormone therapy.

OvaHere · 13/04/2019 17:51

The only positive I can see from that tweet is that they are being resoundingly ridiculed and called out in the responses.

I'm cautiously optimistic we may be close to or have reached tipping point - with regards to children at least.

YouveGotAxes · 13/04/2019 17:53

This one looks like it has a sound scientific basis too.

Remember phrenology heads??

The Money

thefederalist.com/2018/02/20/rich-white-men-institutionalizing-transgender-ideology/

Exceedingly rich, white men (and women) who invest in biomedical companies are funding myriad transgender organizations whose agenda will make them gobs of money.

These are (mostly) men in some shape or form.

$424 million is a lot of money. Is it enough to change laws, uproot language and force new speech on the public, to censor, to create an atmosphere of threat for those who do not comply with gender identity ideology?

FishFace2019 · 13/04/2019 18:01

I am not on Twitter but could I politely ask someone who is to tweet this @the NAS please?
This is so wrong and so dangerous. ASD is not a symptom of gender dysphoria. I’m beyond appalled and horrified that this is being said. I am knowledgeable but some are not and could be harmed by this.

Cagliostro · 13/04/2019 18:05

That list is fucking disgusting

My friend - like me, an autistic female who wanted to be a boy when younger - said that not only are they transing the gay away, they are transing the autism away too, I totally agree with her

NellieEllie · 13/04/2019 18:10

I don’t know how to tweet to bring it to the NAS attention. Do I just quote their twitter name?

FishFace2019 · 13/04/2019 18:13

I think it’s @NAS? Thank you. AFAIK NAS still link to Mermaids as a source of guidance. Surely, now, they must sever ties.

Cagliostro · 13/04/2019 18:18

@YouveGotAxes I’d never even thought of it like that, you have blown my mind, and now I’m even sadder.

It terrifies me, how easily I could have wound up infertile, unable to have my (wonderful, and yes, autistic like me) children, when actually all I needed was TIME to get through my “I want to be a boy”

Antibles · 13/04/2019 18:18

Yes Nellie it makes no sense. It's a bit like saying to a person who had depression: "Feeling happier? That's a sign of depression!"

AlwaysComingHome · 13/04/2019 18:22

Is it still there? I’m seeing ‘Tweets aren’t loading’

NellieEllie · 13/04/2019 18:28

Still there @AlwaysComingHome

have you seen the responses to it on Twitter? Absolutely 100% in agreement that this list is dangerous, deluded, irresponsible and just downright shocking

Thingybob · 13/04/2019 18:32

Another slide and quote from Joanna Olsen Kennedy yesterday

"Very few adolescents come into my surgery without depression, anxiety and other mental health diagnosis. But those entities do not cause gender dysphoria"

She seems very sure but I doubt she has any evidence to back that statement up.

aprilviolets · 13/04/2019 18:34

and gender dysphoria may present as a diagnosis of autism?
What the fuck??
I'm also unable to say what I really want to as I would also be banned.
Angry

Christ on a bike - if you have any feelings whatsoever you might be transgender?

I wonder what roles the clinicians have. 2 transgender clinicians. Isn’t it unusual for people to have personal experience of what they practice in? I’m sure nearly every gynaecologist I’ve seen was male 😁.

R0wantrees · 13/04/2019 18:43

The slides & those supporting them are also demonstrating that they have no awareness of Safeguarding, recognising potential abuse/trauma, social/emotional/behavioural issues in children.

See @MRKHvoice twitter comment:

"I find this troubling. I work in SEND education. To be specific, I work with children who cannot access the education system. The majority of my students have behavioural, mental health and neurological issues that impact this. According to this they're all trans.

This begs some serious questions about "acceptance without exception" and "affirmation only". Most of the kids I work with have been victims of abuse or have witnessed abuse. Most are struggling with complex and often comorbid conditions. My job is to pick that apart with them.
It's never one thing. There's never a quick fix. If a child is struggling we find ways to help them understand themselves and navigate the world. The majority of children I work with lack the emotional literacy they need to describe what's wrong. I don't take them at face value.
They look to adults to set boundaries and give them the language and understanding they need to explain how they feel and deal with complex emotions. Were I, as a trusted adult, to tell them "you're born in the wrong body, is all, we'll just change that", they would believe me.
I would, however, be doing them a huge disservice. The thing that is troubling them does not go away, even if we medicate it. And, believe me, many of my students are medicated already, so I know this for a fact.
It terrifies me that these vulnerbale children could fall victim to this unquestioning mentality. Could be labelled as something they are not, and the behaviours that are cries for help never listened to, nor properly addressed.
They could be set off on a lifetime of the pursuit of the impossible, to escape their body, when, in reality, what they are trying to escape is trauma. And no adult would address it nor question it.
If the trans lobby want to claim vulnerbale and damaged children in this way, they have a responsibility to ask questions, pursue all avenues, not pretend their is a "one size fits all" quick fix. However, they are unwilling to do that. Look at the reaction to @thetimes articles.
I could not, as a professional, work with an organisation like this. They'd make it impossible for me to ask questions and explore the avenues I need to, to make the child whole and return them to the education system, ready to learn and grow, which is the right of every child.
It seems little wonder that rates of depression, anxiety and self harm are high among children who find themselves in the clutches of @ Mermaids_Gender, look what they might be ignoring, the issues not being addressed, as they're told their genitals must be removed to cure them."

threadreaderapp.com/thread/1117070989127450632.html

Vulnerable children & young people will always be put at additional risk by adults whose ideological commitment & lack of expertise makes them blind to potential serious Safeguarding concerns.

AlwaysComingHome · 13/04/2019 18:43

Being trans is a feeling; therefore if you have feelings you are trans.

nicenewdusters · 13/04/2019 18:45

My friend's daughter could potentially be "diagnosed" with eight "symptoms" from that list. Her mum is rushing down the trans path with her at lightening speed. In my view it's because it helps them both to find a cure for the massive trauma that happened in their lives a few years ago.

There's no reparation for what happened to them, but this transition seems to represent a new beginning in what was/is a very unhappy pubescent life. It's terrifying to watch.

AlwaysComingHome · 13/04/2019 18:46

Ah, Mermaids have blocked me. Does that mean I can’t retweet them to the NAS?

AlwaysComingHome · 13/04/2019 18:48

If anyone isn’t blocked please retweet to @Autism. I think that’s the NAS.

nicenewdusters · 13/04/2019 18:48

ROwantrees I posted before you. That is exactly what I see happening - "What they are trying to escape is trauma"

R0wantrees · 13/04/2019 18:50

Her mum is rushing down the trans path with her at lightening speed. In my view it's because it helps them both to find a cure for the massive trauma that happened in their lives a few years ago.

There's little evidence that the charities or dedicated 'gender identity' clinics have any great understanding or expertise in recognising/working with children or vulnerable adults affected by complex trauma/abuse.

It should be a key challenge to them.
They fail in their Duty of Care not to recognise or respond appropriately.

Antibles · 13/04/2019 18:55

"Sigmund Freud, empirical void" we used to say. The trans juggernaut is just the same. These slides suggest to me that someone has thrown money at academics and said "see what you can come up with theory-wise to disguise the unfortunate fact that we have no evidence to match our ideology".
