Thank you, GiantKitten.

S1naidSucks · 08/04/2019 00:29

That’s a very factual and straight to the point article.

EweSurname · 08/04/2019 00:30

Archived in case it's pulled/amended

Also I think this article is relevant to a lot of this debate. It refers to the supreme Court judgement earlier this week on the case of the woman and her ex husband who took her to court for defamation

www.thetimes.co.uk/edition/register/analysing-if-statements-made-on-social-media-are-defamatory-wsvl2smk8
LAW REPORT
Analysing if statements made on social media are defamatory

It's NOT trans related but certainly related to the debates that are ongoing around all these things and how the police have been involved in talking to gender critical people for defamation or hate crime.

AlunWynsKnee · 08/04/2019 00:34

Given paucity of evidence, the off-label use of drugs [for outcomes not covered by the medicine’s licence] in gender dysphoria treatment largely means an unregulated live experiment on children
Yes indeed

GeordieGenes · 08/04/2019 00:35

I wonder if all these journalists will be getting a knock on the door from their local police force? If not, why not?

RedToothBrush · 08/04/2019 00:36

This advert is a wall of establishment and business who are not going to be happy tomorrow.

This is just about to be discussed on Sky News now

RedToothBrush · 08/04/2019 00:41

The conversion therapy one is very good

So many potentially gay children were being sent down the pathway to change gender, two of the clinicians said there was a dark joke among staff that “there would be no gay people left”.

“It feels like conversion therapy for gay children,” one male clinician said. “I frequently had cases where people started identifying as trans after months of horrendous bullying for being gay,” he told The Times.

“Young lesbians considered at the bottom of the heap suddenly found they were really popular when they said they were trans.”

It also mentions over simplification of issues on CBBC.

AlunWynsKnee · 08/04/2019 00:44

Because if they are to truly acknowledge [our concerns], then they will have to ask themselves, what the f* have we done to thousands of children?”

Redshoeblueshoe · 08/04/2019 00:45

Bloody hell Red can you expand on the cbbc

RedToothBrush · 08/04/2019 00:46

It carries on and says

Gires, GI and Mermaids all denied they viewed transition as a cure-all or that they exerted any undue pressure.

Really important phrase that one. Glad the Times have it there explicitly.

It's bollocks.

Especially when you have the people resigning saying how they could tell letters from Mermaids as they were all the same. Or they had people sit outside waiting whilst the clinic saw patients.

Cracking article

RedToothBrush · 08/04/2019 00:49

Kids coming into clinic enthusing over trans teen they'd seen on cbbc which had oversimplified things.

RedToothBrush · 08/04/2019 00:50

Many thanks giant kitten. I think I may make effort to buy the paper today.

AlunWynsKnee · 08/04/2019 00:51

Thanks Giant for the shares.

R0wantrees · 08/04/2019 00:51

It also mentions over simplification of issues on CBBC

"I am Leo" was a significant CBBC program from 2014 which featured Stephen Whittle (founder Press For Change & Government expert advisor for Maria Miller MPs Trans Inquiry) as a 'superhero'

there has been an update

NowtSalamander · 08/04/2019 00:51

I’m actually having a little weep of joy here. This is amazing. Just in time for me to see my MP tomorrow morning Grin

Redshoeblueshoe · 08/04/2019 00:52

Being discussed now on Sky News

7Days · 08/04/2019 00:53

Thank you for the sharetokens GiantKitten

Interesting about all the brand logos. It's just rainbow washing really, just like in environmental circles you see warnings against greenwashing. It's not like they care, they just don't want to be seen as Not Caring.

R0wantrees · 08/04/2019 00:54

BBC will also need to consider the impact of programs such as Victoria Derbyshire Show which has provided unquestioning promotion of Mermaids Charity

See last year's program:

Leo?

Honestly, that upsets me so much. What on earth did they think would happen if they showcase a story like that?

S1naidSucks · 08/04/2019 00:55

NowtSalamander, please come back and let us know how you get on.
