Thankyou The Times!
I have just subscribed.
(If you told me a year ago I would have subs to the Spectator and the Times I would have laughed!)

Dr Helen Webberely @ mywebdoctoruk
Advice to anyone who cares about the health and safety of our young trans people in the UK. Do NOT read the newspapers today. #transkids #love

The problem is that GIDS have not requested any external education and many of them deny the existence of trans Identities. How many came to listen to Johanna Olsen-Kennedy? Where was GIDS clinical director who leads the service?

Reminder. This is Doctor who has been already sanctioned by the GMC for unethical practice.

Patrick Studwick @ patrickstud (LGBT editor at BuzzFeed UK)
If only all the Fleet Street journalists who’ve approached me privately, since my speech at the Press Awards, would go public with their support + say out loud: “We abhor the hatred directed daily at trans people from our newspapers. Not in our name.”

It would help. We need you.

Having an 'Omg I might lose my job moment' there huh Patrick?

Yes it will be interesting to see those journalists outside Norovirus Media and Captain 'I've not read the articles' OJ just queuing up to speak up over this one.

TimeLady · 08/04/2019 07:25

Wow, those four Times articles are quite a read. Thank you, Lucy and colleagues.

StephsCaddy · 08/04/2019 07:26

Dr Webberly is presumably panicking about how she’s going to pay her mortgage in the future.

(My comment c'n'p from the Mermaids statement thread)

Have just done a quick trawl of the usual Twitter mouthpieces.

LOJ: POsted the link and is getting more or less slated for it, with particular mention of the gay conversion sections (he is a gay man).

Susie Green: Not a peep. Odd, that.

(Not Dr-on-Twitter-anymore) Adrian Harrop: Not posting in his own name, but trying to throw NHS staff who contributed to the article under the bus by RT an article by a Trans NHS account.

Stonewall: Nothing (since Apr 4th). Strangely quiet for such a gobby organisation.

Mermaids: Another oddly silent account.

Susie Green (once more for emphasis): Not. A. Word.

Excellent journalism from the Times. Usually when they do one of their investigations, in following days they follow up with additional stories. They cover other aspects so perhaps their Science / Health journalists will pick up additional investigations. I note there's nothing from Andrew Gilligan yet?

However, this is only a start. This is so ingrained in all of our institutions that first politicians will have to prise the grubby hands of the lobby groups / civil servants away from their throats before they will acknowledge any problems.

LizzieSiddal · 08/04/2019 07:35

Should we be emailing lots of people/organisations, asking for their reaction to this investigation and how they will be changing their support of transing children?

I will be buying and taking in to work. And re-subscribing, this kind of journalism is so essential for democracy and sadly so eroded elsewhere.

RedToothBrush · 08/04/2019 07:36

Hadley Freeman @ hadleyfreeman
As Mermaids and the treatment of gender non-conforming small children are in the news, it’s worth reading this interview with Mermaids’ Susie Green about her own reaction to her child’s gender non-conforming traits: “I tried to ban his girl toys and dolls”

Yes.

In a word.

RedToothBrush · 08/04/2019 07:39

I will be buying and taking in to work.

Cracking idea.

Sharing at lunch. On the train. Accidentally leaving in cafes...

ResistanceIsNecessary · 08/04/2019 07:41

Not mentioned on R4 Paper headlines. About the only headline not mentioned.

CottonDuvet · 08/04/2019 07:45

BBC Today programme review of the papers - no mention at all 😶

StephsCaddy · 08/04/2019 07:47

Did you really expect anything different from the BBC?

0ccamsRazor · 08/04/2019 07:49

Also a big thank you to op, chatty and everyone else here that demonstraits sanity and supports the truth of this diabolical issue that is the madness of the trans movement lie.

RepealTheGRA · 08/04/2019 07:55

I’ve got to page 3 of the thread.

One case has haunted her. “All the pushing was coming from the father to put the kid on puberty blockers. Thinking back on it now, I fear that the father was a paedophile and the child was being abused.” There is no suggestion the service knowingly ignored the case, and the outcome is unknown

Fuck. Ing. Hell.

Lamaha · 08/04/2019 07:56

Just read this and came here to post. These two articles in the Times also signal a "coming out" for me, as I shared them on Facebook.

NotBadConsidering · 08/04/2019 07:57

Another one who has just subscribed (turns out I had an account still from years ago). How do I do a share token? I want to post it on Facebook but the option to share via the Facebook button doesn’t work, I think due to my privacy settings.

WeRiseUp · 08/04/2019 07:59

Well done Lucy Bannerman Flowers

Thank you for your sharetokens on this thread.

Iused2BanOptimist · 08/04/2019 08:03

I will be buying and taking in to work.

Me too. We have a big coffee room serving a big department so it's ideal for leaving a copy or two lying around.

HorsewithnoLycra · 08/04/2019 08:04

Would have preferred the headline:TRANSGENDER IDEOLOGY IS GAY CONVERSION THERAPY

Me too.
