TRA twitter is so illuminating. We have reams of the anime-avatered fulminating about the Times articles. A quick click into many of these profiles and it's a world of furry/anime/autogynephilia/other fetishes on proud display.

Oh yes. I saw one yesterday - who tweeted to The Times "You've lost a Subscriber".

As if they were Times subscribers Grin

Way too many of them like to wear nappies, and photograph themselves in nappies in child-like poses, way too many of them have child-like, yet grossly pornographic anime art all over them. And they're endorsing the puberty blockers, the sex hormones, on underage children - and for those children to escape their boring old parents and join these "glitter-families. Fucksake. It's grooming in plain sight. They should be no where near any children.

Some of the Times reports really were awful yesterday - it blatantly clear that none of these anime-lovers had even read them - or maybe even worse, they're just pissed off 5 doctors have blown the whistle.

Which goes to show how high up into the establishment this goes.

That was in response to theOtherPamAyres

Just to pick up on the Tavistock statement on the Times articles:

"The Service has a high level of reported satisfaction and was rated Good by the CQC".

In the latest CQC report (November 2018), it states:

www.cqc.org.uk/sites/default/files/new_reports/AAAH5819.pdf

"We also did not reinspect the other specialist services (gender identity development services for children and young people), which we rated as good for all key questions when we last inspected it.

Can't find when they last inspected it.

Looks like it might have been 2014.

Michelleoftheresistance · 09/04/2019 19:48

"The Service has a high level of reported satisfaction and was rated Good by the CQC"

Yet 18 staff has resigned in 3 years, a number have whistleblown about their deep concerns over what they saw and were required to do there, and staff have also gone public with concerns about the failures of the recent report.

Needmoresleep · 09/04/2019 19:55

Looks like it might have been 2014. during which time demand has spiralled.

You don't even need to click.
Just hover over it and sure as eggs is eggs you'll see their precious pronouns carefully listed.

Dead giveaway.

I honestly don’t understand how you can square an unquestioning acceptance approach with the Hippocratic oath to do no harm.

If, as The figures seem to suggest, 80% of trans identifying youngsters detransition if not given drugs then it is terrifying to think that many children are being given very powerful drugs without known long term effects for something that may only be a temporary state for them. And you can still believe that there is a role for puberty blockers in some cases whilst still agreeing it is important to identify which those are.

Cwenthryth · 10/04/2019 06:06

Letters published today - supportive from a paediatric endocrinologist, and Sarah Ditum, and critical from Peter Tatchell

www.thetimes.co.uk/article/times-letters-transgender-identity-and-medical-intervention-c8hqjszjs?shareToken=a9af004fd1776839bc14a80abbe1bd74

Tatchell seems to still not have read the articles - writing “Why would a young person seek to evade anti-gay prejudice by embracing a trans identity that attracts even greater prejudice? It seems implausible.”

Erm - Peter - direct quote from the clinicians in the article: “Young lesbians considered at the bottom of the heap suddenly found they were really popular when they said they were trans.”

Perhaps it seems implausible to Tatchell, but it’s happening. I guess it’s unsurprising that he’s not in touch with current social trends with young teenagers.

JessicaWakefieldSV · 10/04/2019 08:35

Tatchell thinks quite highly of himself if he thinks he has a better idea why there’s been this surge than actual qualified professionals who have directly worked with them.

rightreckoner · 10/04/2019 08:37

Great letters (not Tatchell’s obvs)

I wonder when the BBC will grow a backbone and report on this accurately ...

henry27 · 10/04/2019 08:39

The five clinicians who the Times have spoken to have resigned because of concerns over the treatment of vulnerable children who come to the clinic presenting as transgender.
Source: Times site.

Fazackerley · 10/04/2019 08:48

Wtf do people think trans teens are treated badly? The whole system is changed for them! They are treated like royalty at ds's state secondary!

Fazackerley · 10/04/2019 08:55

Which has caused huge resentment among the other kids tbh. They see endless staff meetings, assemblies on trans kids, talks, new loos and they are sick of it!

Rubidium · 10/04/2019 08:56

Also from Tatchell:
"The big increase in trans-identified young people and referrals to the gender identity clinic in north London is most likely to be explained by the fact that trans issues are now discussed more openly."

So given that there has been a particularly big increase in girls seeking to transition, if this is explained by a greater awareness of trans issues, where are the teenage girls of 20-30 years ago transitioning to become men? Where are the middle aged transmen telling the newspapers about their delight at their newly grown facial hair and deeper voices, yet agonising about how best to fill that space in their trousers? I don't see them. I wonder why that is?

rightreckoner · 10/04/2019 08:59

It was the absence of middle aged mothers of three identifying as men that first set me wondering about this whole agenda. It’s teenage girls and middle aged men. It shouldn’t take a grown up too long to figure out what’s going on here.

CaveMum · 10/04/2019 09:13

Why anyone gives Twatchell (as I’ve seen him referred to elsewhere and shall be stealing) air time I do not know. His connections to PIE and “that” abhorrent letter should render his persona non grata.

JessicaWakefieldSV · 10/04/2019 09:23

His connections to PIE and “that” abhorrent letter should render his persona non grata.

Agreed. Yet he still has a platform. But then look at Harriet Harman.

Ali1cedowntherabbithole · 10/04/2019 09:32

I reckon rightreckoner is right Grin

Rubidium · 10/04/2019 09:33

And FFS Oxford students:

cherwell.org/2019/04/08/oxford-professor-criticises-use-of-gender-hormones-as-unregulated-live-experiment-on-children/

"Content warning: transphobia" [rolls eyes]

I've no idea why they've asked Fox Fisher to critique the work of Prof Carl Heneghan, Director of the Centre of Evidence-Based Medicine at one of the world's leading universities. Fox's comment of

"behaviour of this sort should never be tolerated and jeopardises the well-being of students and the integrity of the institution"

Sigh. Proper scrutiny of data and rational analysis of evidence is just the sort of 'behaviour' that institutions like Oxford University shouldn't just 'tolerate' but downright expect. It doesn't 'jeopardise...the integrity of the institution' it's what makes them the institutions they are. But then Fox knows best.

buzzbobbly · 10/04/2019 09:42

Oh god I am cringing inside at the Cherwell students fumbling around with this. They will look back on this "we know it all" period of their lives with embarrassment and shame.

Datun · 10/04/2019 09:56

I don't know why people like Peter Tatchell are still claiming it's because people are more comfortable coming out now and that's why you're seeing an increase. It's patently not true.

How does he account for the 76 kids at one Brighton school coming out at once?

And yes, of course the hordes of middle-aged female transitioners finally coming out to their husbands so they can be their authentic selves. Hmm

Popchyk · 10/04/2019 10:32

And those middle-aged husbands, who are heterosexual men, being totally cool and accepting of their new role as a gay man married to another gay man.

Wish people would wake the hell up.

nauticant · 10/04/2019 10:35

I saw some good in the Cherwell article. If you read it you'll see that one person is talking about science, research, and evidence and those complaining are talking about "behaviour of this sort should never be tolerated", "Transphobic, fear-mongering articles", and "transphobic rhetoric which is harmful to transgender people".

It will cause some people to think "now hang on a moment, what's going on here?"
